00:00Vivacious and tenacious and other things that rhyme vivacious.
00:05I don't know vivaciouses, but ten...
00:11Unique. Incredible force of a woman.
00:14Yeah. If she was here now, you'd know it.
00:16There'd be no Where's Marie.
00:18Right, yeah.
00:28My mental health.
00:29Don't get me started on that.
00:31It's an issue that was definitely prominent in Marie's life.
00:38You can't shy away from it.
00:40You can't tell a story about Marie without visiting that aspect of her life.
00:45So, but you've got to handle that with as much care and dignity and grace and respect as you do
00:52the rest of her life.
00:54You know, and I hope that we did that.
00:55No, I mean, honestly, you know, the care and the approach that was taken by everyone in portraying Marie,
01:03and certainly that more difficult side, because this is going to be seen by her friends and relatives, her family.
01:09Everyone's going to see this and, you know, there was, it was never a cavalier approach to it.
01:15You know, it was thought out, considered Rosamond with Marie, the portrayal, you know, sympathetic but honest.
01:24You know, that is the best you can hope for.
01:29Closer than, you know, I've ever worked with anyone that I've been depicting.
01:35When I played, I think, four real people before, none of them still alive, and certainly none of them on
01:42set.
01:43Sorry.
01:43Should I apologise for being silly?
01:45Yes.
01:46That's basically what I'm asking you to do.
01:49No.
01:50But to have the person you're depicting on set at all times was incredible for me, you know.
01:56And not just from, you know, selfishly from a work point of view and an embodiment point of view, an
02:02accent point of view.
02:03There's so many reasons why it was incredible, but also, you know, to have his support throughout the process was
02:08amazing.
02:09And to have him, you know, Paul's spent a lot of time in the Middle East.
02:12I haven't.
02:13And just to be out there in an unknown land and to have a companion and a friend, someone to
02:20even just socialise with at the weekends,
02:22and sometimes during the week maybe, and that was incredible, you know.
02:27Friendship under fire is a very strong friendship.
02:29You know, in Jordan, pulling this film together off on location for that long was actually akin to what we
02:36used to do.
02:37And it was just, you know, you do bond with people really quickly and, you know, it's a bond that
02:41I'm sure will be there forever.
02:46You know, I always say this, I don't think it's my place to tell people what they should feel at
02:52the end of a film,
02:53but I guess, you know, I think we see it as a homage to real journalism and that's important right
02:59now, I think, more than ever, you know.
03:00So if they can take that away, I think that's, we will feel that we've helped a little bit, we've
03:06done our job a bit,
03:07to shine a bit of light on people who are literally willing to sacrifice everything to tell the truth.
