There‘s nothing more quintessentially "Christmas in New York" than seeing the Rockettes perform live at Radio City Music Hall. That‘s probably why demand for tickets is so high — the dancers often perform four or more times per day, which is no small physical feat, considering all the kicking and acrobatics that go into a show. Through it all, their French twists, false lashes, and red lipstick remain perfectly intact.

00:08I'm so excited to be here with Sierra and Tori from The Rockettes.
00:11It is literally 30 minutes before showtime at Radio City Music Hall,
00:14so they have to finalize their looks and do their red lip,
00:17false eyelashes, and the French twist.
00:21To do your French twist, what's the first step?
00:23It helps to have kind of day-old, a little bit dirtier hair.
00:27It just kind of saves us some icing time if we can have a twist that lasts all day long.
00:32So now you guys are twisting the ponytail.
00:34I have to loop it in a bun and then bring it back around and tuck it under.
00:39And then I do a little different and I loop it up the top.
00:42And then take a pin.
00:44Sometimes we get French twist tantrums where bobby pins will be thrown at the mirror.
00:53What comes first, lashes or lips?
00:56Lashes.
00:57Lashes.
00:57Every woman's great dilemma.
00:59Originally, what I would do was put it on a bobby pin just to get a really thin line.
01:04And this dries clear, so it's okay if you get it all over your face a little bit.
01:08Right, you're using the classic duo adhesive.
01:10So I use a Q-tip to press it more towards my lash line.
01:15I like to take mascara once my lashes are through and put a little bit more on
01:19to kind of blend the fake lash and my own personal lash together.
01:22Okay, all done.
01:25What is the go-to red for the Rockettes?
01:27Russian red is definitely one of the ones that I like to use for math.
01:31I'll also use Revlon certainly red.
01:34That's just a tiny bit brighter.
01:35We have one number where we are Santa Claus and we wear beards.
01:42You have to have the lipstick sealant because otherwise it ends up all over your face.
01:46Oh my god.
01:47And then the wig people are angry with you.
01:50Yes.
01:51So this is it?
01:52You guys are completely show ready?
01:54This is it.
01:55We have our classic red lip on, our lashes, and our twist.
01:57Those are I think the three things that really make us look ready for a show.
