The rope braid is kind of a big deal in the hair world right now. What makes this slightly undone, fluffy style such a standout is that it's a modern take on the typical plait. We've already noticed lots of celebs sporting the trend — now, we want to hop on the bandwagon, too.

So, we enlisted celebrity hairstylist Mark Hill to show you how to recreate this easy, fuss-free 'do on your own. Watch the video for a step-by-step tutorial on copying this Rapunzel-like twist.

00:06Hi, I'm Mark Hill, British Celebrity Hairdresser, and I'm here with the lovely Gina to create
00:10you a very bang on trend rope braid. Ready to start by actually putting some foundation
00:15in with the fabulous finished hairspray all through the roots. That just fills up the
00:20support in the hair. And then when we've done that, we're going to take the hair over to
00:24one side. Part the hair into two big sections through the back section here. Take the underneath
00:29section here and twist that hair inwards. The second section, we do exactly the opposite,
00:35and we twist that backwards. So as we do, we continue to twist that round, continually twisting
00:42underneath and over the top, and then taking the small elastic at the bottom. Now at this
00:48point, once we've created the fabulous rope braid, we then need to go back into the hair
00:52and give it that very modern sort of finish to the hair by just bringing the hair through
00:57and just using again the fabulous finish spray, just working that through that hair, and then
01:02just literally just picking up those pieces, just frothing those out, and this gives it
01:07that great, modern, almost sort of accessory finish. So if you get any little strays in
01:13there, just use a small pin and just stick those in, and that just controls it. But remember,
01:18it's all about that fluffy texture. It's all about that softness. It needs to look really
01:22modern. So as you can see, the hair just drapes across and twists underneath here, and it gives
01:26a real nice detail. What makes this look so good is the combination of Gina's colour as
01:30well. Because she's got the two-toned ombre, it gives that sort of variation and dimension
01:35to what is a great finish. The most important thing about this look is to keep that lazy girl
01:40feel to the hair, that vibe of that softness and that freedom. Still have fun with her hair.
