Consider this a warning, all: Don't tell a #GIRLBOSS she can't do something because she's a girl. It's a surefire way to making sure she proves you wrong. At least, that's the very lesson we learned in the latest Nasty Gal video featuring French actress and musician, Soko.

The next installment of Portrait Of A #GIRLBOSS features the multi-talented, one-name wonder on her personal road about making it big. As her story goes, the now-successful artist was once told she couldn't play guitar because "you're just a girl." And, well, you can kinda guess where this is going, right?

With a film reel a mile long, and slightly soft, sweet voice that's the perfect accompaniment for her kooky, badass music videos, it's pretty clear that Soko's not the lady you want to bet against. Watch on for #GIRLBOSS-in-the-making tales, and proof of what happens when you utter those famous last words.

00:09Yeah, hi, I'm SOKO.
00:10I play music and I've been acting in movies since I'm 16.
00:14I grew up in the southwest of France, near Bordeaux,
00:19in a very tiny village.
00:21I lost my dad when I was five, so then I had a stepdad,
00:25so it was all like half-brothers and sisters and step-brothers and sisters.
00:28So it was six kids all together, not much access to the city and art at 16.
00:36I was like, I want to be a grown-up, I want to be responsible,
00:38and I want to be creative and make things.
00:41And I was just very, very ambitious.
00:43So I left because I was so fearless.
00:45I just would not take no for an answer.
00:48I was just like, I don't need parents.
00:50At 16, I was a lot more mature than I am now.
00:54I was just a little bit bored with acting.
00:57Having to wait around for people to desire me,
01:01and I want to just make my own thing.
01:03I was trying to work with people,
01:05work with guys who would play guitar for me
01:07because I didn't know how to play it.
01:09It was terrifying because they were just like,
01:11oh, you're just a girl, you're nothing without me.
01:14So I taught myself the guitar to prove them wrong.
01:16If you can do it, just because you're a man,
01:18doesn't mean that I can do it.
01:19Like, I'm just as good as you.
01:22But that said, there's no better thrill
01:24than being in a rehearsal room with a musician that you love
01:27and hearing your songs come together.
01:30I just feel like life is a constant series of obstacles.
01:35Many days I just think, like, I'm just going to give up.
01:37I can't do it.
01:38If I do anything that feels wrong,
01:40I start having panic attacks
01:41because I'm too much of a control freak.
01:43I would say follow your intuition.
01:47Everything that's bad is just here to teach you lessons.
01:50Don't be overly emotional.
01:53And trust.
