00:01The cybersecurity firm Hunt.io reports Wednesday, October 28, it found online 68 gigabytes of data
00:07potentially stolen from databases of a Philippine government agency. The Hunt.io research team says
00:14a thief copied the data, kept a receipt of it, then left that receipt and their tools on a
00:19computer anyone online could open. That mistake is how it came to light, not a public dump of the
00:24data. The firm adds it did not have the stolen data but reverse-engineered the tools used and
00:29read the logs. The exact nature of the potentially stolen files have yet to be determined because
00:34the firm did not examine the data. But Hunt.io notes the file names discovered match case
00:39management systems operated by agencies including the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration
00:44and the Department of Migrant Workers Balik Manggagawa online processing system. Hunt.io also
00:50previously wrote about a reported hack involving the theft of sensitive files from the Philippines'
00:55nuclear research agency.
