00:05Hi everyone, it's Taylor from Refinery29.
00:08Accomplishing the perfect cat eye can always seem a little daunting,
00:11but today I'm going to show you how with a few simple steps you can master that seemingly scary look.
00:16You've probably been told to start from the inner rim of the eye and work your way out,
00:19but today I'm going to show you a new trick by working from the outer rim in.
00:24I'm going to do that by creating a guide to work off of.
00:26The key to mastering the perfect cat eye is choosing the product that works best for you.
00:31For those of you who are novices, I recommend using a felt tip pen.
00:34My favorite is the Hourglass Calligraphy because it has a super fine point,
00:38which is going to allow you to get really close to your lash line.
00:41Today I'll be using the MAC number 208 brush.
00:44You can also use the Hourglass Calligraphy Pen in Ebony,
00:49the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion,
00:51and the Make Up Forever Aqua Black Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow.
00:57It's always good to prep your eye with an eye primer.
00:59This is going to ensure that your cat eye is going to stay put all day long and not budge.
01:03Today I'll be using a gel eyeliner, which I'll be applying with a small angled brush.
01:08You want to make sure that the bristles on your brush are very stiff and very tight up at the
01:12end.
01:13This is going to ensure that you're going to get a straight, even line throughout.
01:17It's really important when you're picking up the product with your brush that you do so by using small brush
01:22strokes on the side of the brush.
01:24This is going to ensure that the end of the brush stays super tight and doesn't fray out.
01:28We're going to want to get a sharp line when we do this, and this is where it's going to
01:31start.
01:32The easiest way to see what you're doing when you're applying eyeliner is to do so with your eyes open,
01:37obviously.
01:38But sometimes that can be hard.
01:40So my tip for achieving this is to look straight into the mirror and tilt your head back.
01:45You're going to be able to see what you're doing, and you're still going to be able to apply it
01:48as you need it to be.
01:49Pulling the skin tight on the outer corner of the eye, you want to use the brush really close to
01:55the lash line, pulling outward.
01:58Once you've got the angle that you want, pull the product as far out as you're going to want your
02:02cat eye to go.
02:03Don't worry about it being perfect. We're going to fix it later.
02:10Once you've got that down, it's super easy from here.
02:13Picking up more products on your brush, you're now going to flip the brush the opposite direction.
02:20And holding it close to your lash line, we're going to put the tip of the brush at the tip
02:25of the eyeliner.
02:28And then we're going to work our way in.
02:30This is going to be our guide for the rest of the look.
02:33Don't worry about doing one solid straight line.
02:36You probably won't be able to get it on the first try anyway.
02:39Working in small dashes, you're still going to achieve the look you're going for since we've already created a guide.
02:54And voila, a super easy cat eye.
03:01So now you can go try it yourself.
03:03Meow.
03:09There are 2 dipped buckets of one gianty.
03:09Where the box comes, you can put now.
