There are makeup artists, and then there are makeup artists. Dick Page falls, unquestionably, into the latter category. A master of both color theory and technique, Page always manages to surprise us with a fresh outlook on making faces. And, as the artistic director of makeup for Shiseido, he's the man who develops the seriously gorgeous hues that wind up in the brand's color collection. His latest creation, the Eye Color Bar, is a mixology-inspired palette of nine new liqueur-inspired eyeshadows. On paper, the colors sound like a lot of look. In practice, these pretty shadows make us wonder why the heck we haven't been wearing magenta and cobalt eyeshadow all day, every day.

00:11The idea of the eye color bar palette is to really maximize the potential of using bright color, natural color,
00:17and then two modifying shades, champagne and soda.
00:21So these, used alone or in combination, give you an infinite variety of looks, and it's the color bar because
00:26it's just like mixing cocktails, and you just have fun with it.
00:30So this look is called Notorious, it's a bit of fun, a bit of drama, and I'm starting off with
00:36the soda modifier shade, and this is the one that has a pinkish violet tone to it, and I'm blending
00:41this all over the lid, following that with a Parfait Amour, and the Parfait Amour is this beautiful, beautiful deep
00:47violet, and this is following the shape of the outer corner of the eye, and tracing the same shade along
00:53underneath the eye, quite soft, not as intense as above, and then gradually building up into a kind of a
00:58winged effect.
00:59It helps to pull the edge of the eyelid up a little bit, just to really get down into the
01:03base of the lashes, you want to make sure there's no skin showing between the color and the lash.
01:07And now I'm taking the black shade, the central color in the palette, and using this like a liner, sketching
01:12it right in close to the upper corner of the lashes.
01:15This just gives me an extra bit of weight, and blends into the Parfait Amour purple shade.
01:20I'm taking the highlighting shade from the luminizing satin face color, the gold, and just dusting that along underneath the
01:26eye, onto the cheekbone.
01:32And now for contrast and a bit of fun, I'm taking the Cassis, the reddish shade, and applying the blush
01:37very, very high on the outer corner of the cheekbone.
01:40And this almost uses the cheekbone blush effect as an enhancement to the eye makeup, a little bit of extra
01:46drama.
01:47And speaking of drama, the lip is painted on using the Perfect Rouge in Showgirl.
01:52You could do it straight from the tube. I prefer a bit more control using a brush applying lipstick.
02:02And then to further enhance this really painted mouth, I'm using the warm lip gloss.
02:06And what's interesting about this is not only adding shine to the lip color, but I'm actually using it to
02:11take down the color in the center of the lip.
02:14So there's a little bit of contrast there.
02:16And the finished face, glamour, drama, intensity around the eyes and the lips, and a glowing, beautiful complexion.
02:57Amen.
