00:03What excites me about each season is that you get to research and then translate a concept into clothing.
00:12I'm not just pumping out clothes or following trends. I go in really deep every season and that allows me
00:19to stay true to who I am.
00:21Since I was a little kid I always knew that I wanted to be a designer.
00:24As early as I can remember I kept tears of magazines that I have and books I would create and
00:30collages.
00:32And so I did internships in all aspects of the fashion business that would lead me to this point.
00:39The first runway show for me was like, whoa, I was thinking about this when I was in sixth grade.
00:47I've had my line Kimberly Ovitz since spring 2009.
00:50I started the company in LA, established all my contacts there, and I just moved the company from LA to
00:59New York.
00:59It's going to be a year this March.
01:01I always wanted to be in New York. It just took me longer to get here than I thought.
01:07I think a really important thing to remember that I didn't realize when I was just starting the company was
01:13that there's no one rule.
01:14You don't need to travel and spend a lot of money to get inspired.
01:19Inspiration is around you everywhere if you're curious and you just have to look and know what's going on around
01:26you and it'll just come to you.
01:30I think that it's drive. I think it's passion and it's ambition.
01:36I think that you have to know that it's going to be hard as hell and a lot of work.
01:43But if you want something, you go get it.
01:49My name is Kimberly Ovitz and I'm a fashion designer.
01:52Yes.
02:00I think it's really helpful.
