00:04Everybody has obstacles and challenges and I think the key is to be resilient and go
00:11deep down into your reserve and push forward despite those obstacles. That's
00:16the key to every successful person I've known.
00:21I founded an internet company in New York in 1997 in the early days of the
00:27internet. I knew early on that technology and the internet would transform our
00:33lives and the way we work and I really wanted to be a part of that and funding
00:38the next generation of companies. So venture capitalists fund startup companies
00:44at very early stages. I definitely think that mentoring is one of the more
00:49rewarding parts of what I do. I just think it's important for any woman to have a
00:53role model. There's no one set career path. My mom encouraged me to follow my
01:00own path. I was more on the creative side. I was actually a very serious ballet dancer
01:06and then I went to college and discovered finance and I took my first economics
01:13class. It's been an evolution of combining a lot of my passions and my interests so
01:20around technology, around innovation, around communication and finance and
01:25business. Technology is transforming lives around the world and I feel
01:31extremely fortunate to be funding and being part of that change. I'm Jalik
