00:05Hey guys, it's Megan from Refinery29. I'm here in the Beauty Test Lab today to try out Nails
00:10Ink New Feathers Effect Polish. It comes in four shades, $9.50 a piece, and it's available at
00:16Sephora. And what it is, is exactly what it sounds like. It is multicolored particles that when
00:21painted on your nails, give the effect of feathers. So we're going to go ahead and give it a try
00:25today. I'm going to be testing out Brighten, which is a teal and yellow, very springtime appropriate
00:33mix. So let's go ahead and give it a go. So definitely make sure you shake this up before
00:38you use it. I did notice it separated pretty quickly. And what you're going to do is just
00:43get a nice coat on there. And now it doesn't come on particle-wise very thick, so you're going to
00:49have to do multiple coats with this. But you're going to want to wait until it dries. Otherwise,
00:54it moves the particles around, and you just end up with a bunch of pieces at the top or
00:58the bottom, and it doesn't really give you that feathered effect you're going for. Pulling
01:02it across the nail spreads it a little too much, whereas you dab, you get more of a dispersion
01:08of those particles. And you can smooth over it and kind of manipulate it where you want
01:12to go. Okay, so this is one coat done. Now, you could go ahead and leave this as is. It
01:18looks a little bit like confetti to me. I personally want to get that really awesome feathered effect,
01:22so I'm going to go ahead and go in for another coat. So again, now that I've got my foundation
01:26down, what I'm really doing here is kind of pressing the color in and then spreading it
01:31around and manipulating it rather than smoothing it over the nail. This gives a much more layered
01:36effect and helps create the feather feel that I'm going for. And again, don't be afraid to
01:43get a good amount on that nail. And you're just going to go over it again with top coat once
01:48it's dried, so you don't have to worry about this feeling gloppy or catching and chipping
01:53right away. So after you've applied that second coat, not right when it's completely still wet,
01:58but not when it's completely dry either, kind of that in-between stage, use your finger to press
02:03down on those particles and kind of manipulate them where you want them to go. I notice that this
02:09gets a little bumpy in places if you layer it too much. So using your finger to kind of press
02:14down and gently move the particles will help get rid of those large bumps. And then again,
02:21when you go over it with the top coat, that will help with the smoothness too. And there
02:25we go. That's two coats and I've got that feather look I was going for. So now I'm just going
02:29to seal that with some top coat and it'll be all set. So I'm going to go ahead and give
02:34the Nails Ink Feathers Effect Polish a pass. I think they're really cool. One thing to keep
02:40in mind is that these are going to chip pretty quickly because it's so thick and the
02:44particles harden. It's just going to be really easy to chip these. But conversely, they're
02:49so easy to do. This took me all of two minutes that I don't think that's really a huge downside.
02:54Also, the colors are just right on trend for spring. I can't help but look at these and
02:59get really excited for warm weather. So I think this would be a great addition to your spring
03:03nail polish wardrobe.
