00:06Hey guys, it's Charlene from Refinery29 and I'm here with Bethany Brill, our go-to guru
00:11for everything hair and makeup related. And we're here in Tinseltown, your shoppable extravaganza,
00:18bringing you holiday gifts to give to your friends and loved ones. So today Bethany and
00:23I are going to go through three beauty looks, one for makeup, one for hair. So let's go through the
00:28smokey eye look today. What are you going to be doing to glam out my face for the holidays?
00:33Well, you can see she's fresh faced and she needs a little party flair. I would say that
00:38smokey eye is one of the most common questions that I get as a makeup artist. So should we
00:44get started? Yeah, and I know today we're using the Urban Decay Naked palettes which are for
00:48sale on Tinseltown. Naked 1 and Naked 2 are amazing gifts to give or for yourself to use
00:54every day because it's so versatile. It has so many colors that you can use it for day
00:59and night and each set is $50 which is a great, great price to give. Yeah, this is all you
01:04need
01:04for shadows. I mean, there's neutrals, there's dark, there's shimmer, there's matte, it's
01:12everything. I guess I always start with dark just because that like really defines the shape
01:18of the eye and then you can move around there. So I'm going to have her close her eye and
01:24if
01:24you just pick up that little part of the eyebrow, it really smooths out the eyelids so you're
01:29not tugging at the skin. And we're going to move along just below where the crease of her
01:35eye is. Open your eye. So just right in there. So you're going to move in a V-shaped motion
01:42along
01:44the lash line and push the shadow into the lashes, then into a V-shape. So then next,
01:52our shimmer shade, we're going to tap in the center of the eye. Don't worry if some of the
02:00dark mixes. And then our last shade, our skin-colored shade, we're going to do just again below the
02:13crease and just moving over the outside edge of what we just did. So this is how you blend it
02:21into the eye. Just your smoky eye, we topped it off with a little eyeliner and mascara and now you're
02:28ready for your party circuit. I think the only thing this look needs is a little lipstick. Today,
02:34we're going to use Lipstick Clean in Cha-Cha. Ooh, fancy. I think this is the right color for you
02:41because it has like a brown undertone and for your medium olive skin, brown looks so good.
02:47So we're starting to apply the lipstick. I like to start with the Cupid's bow and then move around.
02:56I think this lipstick has a really smooth texture. It's sheer. It's easy to apply. You're not going to
03:03mess up. And it photographs really well because of the shimmer and sparkle in it.
03:09Okay. So there you have it. Her complete look ready to go out. She's got a smoky eye and a
03:16shimmery look.
03:17Thanks, Bethany. I definitely feel party ready now for the holidays.
03:21Absolutely. And I wanted to mention that the Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen gift set you used is three shades for
03:27$48.
03:27So it's a great value and they all are really fun names. You used Cha-Cha on me and the
03:33other also named after dances.
03:35The Hustle and then the Electric Slide. I think we're ready to slide on to our next part of the
03:41look.
03:41We're going to be doing our holiday hair look with a twist using these MEJ assorted hair ties that are
03:48$28.
03:48And you get a pack of 18 that come in festive colors. And we all know that sometimes you forget
03:54to take off your hair elastic.
03:55I know I do. And then it's kind of an eyesore in pictures. But these are really fun because they
04:00come with all of this bling.
04:02And you can wear them as accessories. So what we're going to do with these is we're going to integrate
04:07the hair ties into a braid,
04:09which is then going to turn into a top knot. So we're going to start with a ponytail at the
04:14crown of the head.
04:15So then we're going to section the ponytail into three parts just like you were going to braid.
04:22And just tie the hair ties. I would start by doing one in each section. So do it in all
04:28different levels around the hair.
04:31So then they're kind of evenly distributed when we braid it. So now we're just going to go ahead and
04:36braid just like normal.
04:40And if you see, they're kind of all just mixing it. If they're too close together, you can slide it
04:45up or down the hair.
04:47Then finish the braid with a clear elastic. Wrap the braid into a bun.
05:04And use hair pins to secure it. There we go. Top knot with a twist.
05:10So there you have three high impact beauty looks that you can keep in your arsenal.
05:15And your makeup bag. Thanks so much, Bethany, for being here today.
05:18And all of you that are watching, keep shopping. This is Refinery29 Tinseltown.
05:23And stay tuned for the next episode.
05:25we'll saw it again.
05:27Alright, come on.

05:34Oh, they're playing everything right now!
05:37Oh, it's bad.
05:38Peace!
