Hot or Cold
A Song by Trey Knowles

Are You Living for the Will of God or the Will of the World?

In a world where wealth, power, and material possessions often take priority over spiritual truth, Trey Knowles delivers a bold and thought-provoking message through his song "Hot or Cold." Inspired by the teachings of Yeshua (Jesus Christ), this song challenges believers, church leaders, and society to examine their hearts and ask one important question: Are you truly following God, or are you serving the desires of this world?

Being a disciple of Christ is more than claiming to believe in Him. It means following His example, obeying His commandments, walking in righteousness, and allowing the Spirit of God to transform your life. True discipleship is not measured by financial prosperity, church attendance, religious titles, or material success. It is measured by faith, obedience, love, mercy, and the willingness to live according to God's will.

In "Hot or Cold," Trey Knowles confronts what he sees as the growing influence of prosperity-centered Christianity in America, where the pursuit of money and worldly success can overshadow the true purpose of the Gospel. While churches accumulate wealth and religious leaders preach financial blessings, countless people in neglected communities continue to suffer from spiritual ignorance, injustice, poverty, and a lack of genuine discipleship.

James 1:27 reminds believers that pure and faultless religion before God involves caring for orphans and widows in their distress and keeping oneself from being polluted by the world. Yet how can the church fulfill its mission when material wealth becomes more important than teaching righteousness, extending mercy, and helping people overcome sin?

In Matthew 6:24, Yeshua makes it clear that no one can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and money. Likewise, Mark 4:18–19 warns that the deceitfulness of wealth, worldly worries, and the desire for other things can choke the Word of God, making it unfruitful.

Through this song, Trey Knowles also raises difficult questions about America's religious institutions, the historical oppression of Black communities, and systems that profit from human suffering rather than promote restoration and mercy. He challenges religious leaders who travel across the world to preach the Gospel while overlooking spiritually neglected neighborhoods in their own country.

The message echoes Hosea 4:6: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Without the knowledge of God, people remain vulnerable to deception, sin, and spiritual destruction. The church's responsibility is not simply to collect offerings or build institutions, but to make disciples, teach God's commandments, care for those in need, and lead people toward repentance and spiritual freedom.

Matthew 28:19–20 reminds us of the Great Commission: to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything Christ commanded.

00:06I won't hope. I can't find a hope cause no one won't teach me anything. They won't teach me anything.
00:13I go to church they're not teaching me anything. They ain't telling you what's right and wrong.
00:19You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. Either you're
00:29hot or cold. You can't be both. You can't be in love for two different things. Either you love one
00:34or hate the other. Who are you for? Poor or the rich? You're about getting rich. Is that good? I
00:41find it strange. You will not even come to me in my hood and tell them to repent. You ask
00:46for money.
00:46Don't you see I'm sick? You wouldn't even give me the words to put on my conscience. Instead you're going
00:52to another country and be a missionary. Why not be a missionary in your own country? Come to the sick
00:57and preach. Come to the sick and teach. All I see is Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses. What's your practice? What's
01:04your practice? Are you walking? Are you acting? Are you practicing nonsense? You adulterous. You can't be in love for
01:11two different things. Compromise. Clockwise. Take them back, yo. You Pharisee.
01:17You turn the house into a den. Do you preach against sin? Or do you preach about making money? Are
01:23you scared about losing congregation? Be cognizant. I can't tell the difference.
01:28You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either
01:34hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either hot or cold. You can't be both.
01:46What's the real gospel you learned in college? Look at you. Look at you. Are you representing Christ? Are you
01:52representing your worldly life? This song is not to scold you. I never met you. I don't even know you.
01:58Did I prophesize in your name? You prophesize for fame. You would not even tell the people to repent and
02:03change.
02:05For your knowledge. For your knowledge. For your knowledge. I reject you as a priest. I'm ignoring your children. You
02:10would even tell my children to repent and change. To be saved for Jesus. No one should perish.
02:17You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either hot or cold. You can't be both.
02:26You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either
02:33hot or cold. You can't be both.
02:36So the problem is people's always ready to go outside the country and be missionaries outside the country but they
02:43don't want to be a missionary right here in America and go in the hood and be a missionary.
02:49You're saying that people won't listen to you. People will listen to you. We want to know that you care
02:53for us and you love us. We want salvation. We want righteousness. Nobody wants to exhibit an unrighteousness.
02:59You know you're so quick to come in the hood when a white police officer shoots down a black man
03:05but you won't come in the hood and tell them to change our evil ways and to live a better
03:11life for Jesus Christ.
03:13That's hypocrisy. All messed up man.
03:19You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. You're either hot or cold. You can't be both.
03:28You're either hot or cold. You can't be both. Truth of Knowledge.
03:42You're either hot or cold. You can't be both.
03:45You're either hot or cold. You can't be both.
04:11You're to lie to you.
04:12You
