00:02A community putting their hands up to ensure their ambulance service stays alive as concern
00:08grows about Pinaroo's safety. These people are the most vulnerable in our community when it comes to
00:14what they do because they're flying out there doing some pretty serious stuff. The volunteer-run
00:18station is without its local workers who walked off in solidarity with their longest-serving
00:24member Rob Boleyn when he was stood down over allegations of misconduct a month ago. The
00:29health minister has confirmed an investigation into the allegations but the community says the
00:35investigation should be at arm's length from SA Ambulance. It needs to be independent. It needs
00:41to report to the minister. The state government says the ambulance service receiving the details
00:47of the independent investigation is entirely appropriate. It says the allegations have been
00:52taken seriously and will be kept confidential to protect the privacy of those involved. The community
00:58is also calling for a parliamentary inquiry into volunteering in the ambulance service.
01:04It is a statewide thing that needs to be looked at and addressed and that's where the parliamentary
01:08inquiry in part is really important. In the meantime locals have been relying on nearby stations.
01:14Lucky that hasn't been anything really big bad and brutal that required an ambulance up here in a hurry.
01:21Having them here locally is really important and timely. It saves people's lives.
01:28Hoping the worst doesn't happen while they wait for answers.
