The Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir faces internal rebellion as 25 National Conference MLAs issue a 14-day ultimatum to party leadership. The rebel legislators have threatened to march to Raj Bhavan and pull the plug on the government unless three major demands are met. They are seeking a complete cabinet overhaul, the dissolution of the current ministry, and the removal of the Chief Minister's advisors, including close aide Nasir Aslam Wani. They have also demanded that the party boldly pursue poll promises regarding special status and constitutional guarantees with the Centre. The rebellion follows reports of Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah threatening to resign from the party and his parliamentary seat.

00:10National conference rebels threatened to pull plug on Omar Abdullah government.
00:15So 25 NC MLAs have threatened march to Raj Bhawan.
00:19And the rebels are demanding complete cabinet overhaul.
00:22The rebel MLAs are seeking the removal of all the ministers.
00:26And they've given Abdullah a 14-day deadline.
00:29And the rebels are also demanding chief minister's advisors removal along with the cabinet ministers.
00:37And in fact, they are also threatening that they will march to the Raj Bhawan.
00:44And they have given a 14-day deadline.
00:47So Aga Rahula's exit threat also adds to NC turmoil.
00:52So this trouble is clearly mounting for the Omar Abdullah government in Jammu and Kashmir,
00:57which faces rebellion from within the national conference with 25 rebel MLAs now issuing an ultimatum to Chief Minister Omar
01:05Abdullah,
01:05saying that it's a 14-day deadline that they have given to Omar Abdullah.
01:11And they have also threatened that they will march to the Raj Bhawan.
01:14They are seeking complete cabinet overhaul.
01:17And they are seeking the removal of all the ministers.
01:21My colleague Meer Fareed is now joining us with more details on this.
01:24Meer, trouble is clearly mounting for the Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir,
01:29with 25 of the NC MLAs now issuing a threat to the Chief Minister,
01:35seeking an overhaul of the entire cabinet.
01:39Give us more details on what are they demanding and the ultimatum that has been given.
01:45That's right, Anjali.
01:46This is a major, major internal crisis.
01:48Probably the biggest internal rebellion that the national conference,
01:53this grand old party had or has ever had,
01:57where you, in fact, we have been reporting non-stop on these developments within the national conference,
02:03where initially there were 25 members, while 19 were present in the meeting.
02:08It was a secret meeting.
02:09But then it was clear that this time around they have made it clear that they will go ahead with
02:15this
02:15and they want certain demands, at least three major non-negotiable demands that they want the high command to accept.
02:23Otherwise, they'll go step further.
02:26And they've given 14 days to the Abdullahs, to the high command, to accept these demands.
02:31Or they have in unison decided that they'll go to the Raj Bhavan and pull the plug on the government.
02:37Because out, in fact, the national conference is 41 MLAs in the 90-member assembly.
02:43And then also it has support of some allies, some independents.
02:46But if 21 decide to move out of the government, it definitely means that the government will fall.
02:52So this is a major crisis and it's happening at a time when already the N.C. was bracing for
02:59a big jolt in Kashmir,
03:01where its MP, Aga Ruhullah, on 3rd, he's resigning not only from the party, but also from the parliamentary seat.
03:08So it was bracing for that, the big jolt.
03:11And then now it also has to take care of this major internal rebellion.
03:16Now, three major demands that they have.
03:18One, that these ministers, this ministry has to be dissolved, the cabinet has to be dissolved.
03:26And in consultation with all the MLAs, the high command will take decision on the next cabinet,
03:33who is going to be the minister.
03:34And also importantly, the advisors, which is Nasir Aslamwani,
03:40who is considered to be a very close aide of Omar Abdullah.
03:43And for these legislatures, he is a very bad influence and a reason for all the internal trouble.
03:49So they want him also removed.
03:51And then also, the poll promises where they won election on the fact that they'll fight for special status,
03:58for constitutional guarantees, that has to be taken up from here on in a big way.
04:02And broadly, as far as the BJP government at the centre is concerned.
04:06All right, Mee, thank you for those details.
04:09And for that context, your trouble is clearly mounting for the Omar Abdullah government,
04:13with the internal rebellion within the national conference being reported,
04:16with the 25 MLAs now threatening to pull the plug on Omar government.
04:22They're not just seeking complete cabinet overhaul,
04:24but they're also seeking the removal of Chief Minister's advisor.
04:28We'll see you next time.
