00:03it's day number two South Africa taking on Australia and it is the first test
00:11match between these two sides the first of three Kings me looking wonderful no
00:21sunshine this morning it's overcast but the bowling side certainly you'll be
00:25happy with that and the batting side will ready themselves for another day of some
00:31difficulty even though with an older ball 65 overs old the ball is now and
00:38they'll be the anticipation of that new ball to see how this first session goes
00:42a look at what happened as far as the Australians are concerned won the toss
00:46decided to bat first and this is what they've managed to put up an important
00:50moment a couple of moments lover Shane his wicket before lunch and Smith his
00:55wicket after lunch were crucial but then Renshaw 46 up 115 in a really good
01:01partnership with Cummins have struggled along and hold the key for this
01:06Australian side in their first innings
01:13nicely balls it is off the edge it goes through that cordon on the ground though
01:19and goes for four yes 50 up for Matt Renshaw a fourth half century to him
01:36shot the bluff didn't work four runs to Cummins Australia one nine six for six
01:55well snared and finally the partnership is broken
02:01Australian captain departs marker with the catch and that is the wicket the local side needed looks like
02:10the new ball is coming out to the middle and big Marco Jansen will be ready to roll in a
02:16moment
02:16and then he will be ready to roll in a moment and he will be ready to roll in a
02:20moment and
02:20he will be ready to roll in a moment and he will be ready to roll in a moment and
02:20he will be ready to
02:21take the new ball there's also a bowling change
02:31wonderful
02:33Bien Mulde said this morning ahead of play they wanted to aim to hit the stumps a little more
02:40yesterday he felt that with the bounce they may have not missed that opportunity to go for the stumps
02:46but he gets it on target
02:53nicely done nice work to the wrist from Matt Renshaw
03:05lovely placement timing is very good but the placement is something to really enjoy
03:16lifting it over the top there's definitely been a change in his approach in the last couple of overs
03:26version of was
03:27unoicans slide
03:37and something and something and something and something and something and something and theiende
03:51seission
03:52se
03:52se
03:52se
03:52se
03:52se
03:59so that's a signature stroke
04:02if I'm picking a Matt Renshaw shot that's it
04:07beautiful
04:08Renshaw on strike on 96
04:12please pick the gap the chase is on for 10 but no chance
04:18what a moment
04:19what a fabulous 100
04:23he's dug Australia out of the hole here
04:27and Matt Renshaw is their hero right now
04:33now the luck goes with him
04:36you make your own
04:38that's what happens
04:45yep very much Australia's morning
04:47a job extremely well done
04:49the wickets falling Pat Cummins and Mitchell Stark
04:54Matt Renshaw unmoved
04:59impossible it seemed
05:00and he's still out there for more this afternoon
05:05unbeaten with 102 in innings of great courage technical skill and you've got to say today timing
05:15hit it beautifully in various areas mainly through sort of widish mid on he played a lovely uppercut
05:22using the bounce pace and he rightly raises his back takes a bow
05:29and he's the man of the moment
05:33yeah certainly a moment that belongs to that young man Matt Renshaw
05:41so Australia back in the game we always say if you get 300 in the first to news of a
05:45test match you're right in the game
05:46well they're not far off that
05:47South Africa gather Sean Pollock is alongside me along with Vernon Philander
05:53but Vernon was with me actually when we were talking about Matt Renshaw's 100th moment before lunch
05:58Sean wasn't so summarize your thoughts for us Maestro
06:03yeah for me I think the key is it's almost been a little bit old school
06:06we often hear about it it's a new game it's played in a different era it's played in a different
06:11way
06:11but he's just accumulated like the good old-fashioned test hundreds that we've seen for many years of the past
06:21lovely stroke really let the bat flow there
06:25he's played within himself for most of the innings and just occasionally he's kind of branched out and reminded us
06:31that he's got a flare as well
06:38oh how well is that play that has played brilliantly great Tristan Stubbs on the boundary
06:42he was pre-empty where it was going to go to so he ran to his right but it went
06:46to his left
06:47but it went like a tracer bullet with that reverse sweep
06:53nicely steered what a desperation there was shouts of catch it by the South Africans
06:59but it's going to be a boundary to end that over from Mark Janssen
07:08nicely done by Nathan Lyon
07:13a boundary for him and that means he moves to 11 his second four
07:24driving not quite possibly going where exactly he wanted it but
07:28it'll be some more runs and frustration for South Africa
07:36if we go back to Australia yesterday six for 124 and another boundary for the Australians so they continue after
07:43the break
07:44it's six for 124 and look cooked
07:50gloved and it'll be four runs down the leg side
07:54Lorraine a move but couldn't get right across
08:02talking about his bowling now he pulls out the on drive from the top shelf
08:06to finish the over dare I say one of the shots of the day
08:14on 146
08:15Renshaw gets it fine
08:16it rolls it rolls and it reaches the rope
08:19and Matt Renshaw he has rescued his country
08:23he moves to 150
08:25and this is a knock
08:27of tremendous significance
08:33gets it on the full this time
08:35that'll be frustrating Maharaj
08:36because he's going for runs four more of them
08:40ingenuity edits the best here
08:50fantastic effort in the field but
08:52it was hit so hard
08:54and a sense there of how things have changed a full toss from
08:59Kejav Maharaj
09:05instead he thunders it down the ground
09:09that's a brilliant stroke
09:10and
09:12much appreciated by all
09:18sharp Nathan Lyon
09:21he loves being on the back foot
09:23and I can tell you
09:24on the record he loves to hook and pull if he gets the chance
09:33got him
09:34surely
09:35yes he has
09:38at last
09:40well deserved by
09:42Marco Jansson
09:43they're going to review it
09:44but you sense that
09:46it's in vain
09:52okay pitching outside of
09:54impact in line
09:55wicket sitting
09:56on field to stay with his original decision
09:59Nathan Lyon has given out the stick with the same decision
10:02it's the ball that Vernon Philly was asking for the fuller one
10:04but you do have to recognise change of game plan from Australia
10:08he had decided to harvest truck for many many deliveries
10:11and only left Nathan Lyon with two
10:13this time he went with three to go
10:19bouncer it was but beautifully played
10:21almost premeditated
10:23I think he picked it worked it out
10:27and it's six
10:32takes on the short staff
10:34fielders can't see it
10:35and there's a reason they can't see it
10:37because it went
10:38as Rabi Shastu would say
10:40like a tracer bullet
10:46just leans
10:47back on the offside
10:48Josh Hazelwood
10:50showing the batters up there
10:51how to do it
10:51straight to the fence
10:57shouts of catcher
10:58he wants to
11:00he might get more than two
11:01he's tied with that well
11:02Norkia
11:02I reckon he's given up a boundary
11:05you have to have a look
11:11close to
11:13the rope
11:14oh
11:19a boundary and a highest test score
11:21for Matt Renshaw
11:25Hazelwood survives
11:26the Australians continue
11:28to hold out
11:29the home side
11:30another fantastic session of grit
11:33and real tough test cricket
11:35390 for nine
11:37Renshaw will go for his bunny chow
11:39on 190
11:44well deserved indeed
11:47yeah look at that
11:49you can see a smile too
11:51on the face of
11:52Pat Cummins
11:53there'll be many a smile
11:55in that Australian change room
11:57because this work has been
11:59outstanding
11:59the very fact that Renshaw
12:02could stay within his bubble
12:04is something to behold in itself
12:07but then the work
12:09of the lower order
12:11to be stoic in their defense
12:13and just to provide
12:16support
12:17so that they could
12:19remove themselves
12:20from the little trouble
12:21they'd got into
12:22at 124
12:24for six
12:25tough stuff
12:27and classical test match cricket
12:29which has been attritional
12:31and heavy particularly
12:33on Timber Bavuma
12:34and his troops
12:40welcome back to Kingsmeade
12:41for the third session
12:42here on day two
12:43and what a day
12:44it has been for Australia
12:45what a day
12:46it has been for Matt Renshaw
12:47190 not out
12:49the score is 390
12:50for nine
12:51he has the opportunity
12:52he's already got
12:53his highest test score
12:54he's now got the opportunity
12:56to get his first
12:57double century
13:02Matt Renshaw
13:04will go for 190
13:0710 runs short
13:10of a double 100
13:12but it takes nothing away
13:14from a magnificent innings
13:17a career best it is
13:18for the left-hander
13:19who makes his mark
13:21on this test team
13:22yet again
13:24yeah he's had to work
13:25extremely hard
13:26to be afforded
13:27another opportunity
13:28and he's taking it
13:30with both hands
13:31with quite a remarkable
13:33knock here
13:35his team was in all
13:36kinds of trouble
13:37and here take a bow
13:39Matt Renshaw
13:41190
13:42out of 390 runs
13:44for Australia
13:46he's definitely
13:47better this team
13:48into a
13:52position
13:53that they feel
13:53that they feel
13:54they can boss
13:54the game
13:55hand takes
13:56all round
13:57applause
13:58all rounds
13:58and deservedly so
14:04there's a task ahead
14:06of South Africa
14:06of course
14:07because it runs
14:08on the board
14:09390
14:10but what about
14:11this bowling attack
14:12Kaya
14:13this is a serious
14:14bowling attack
14:14for Australia
14:16this bowling attack
14:17is experienced
14:18the South African
14:19batters are going
14:20to have to be
14:20watchful
14:22Markham and
14:23Rickleton
14:23are going to have
14:24to make sure
14:26that they
14:28don't give
14:29anything away
14:31because to set it up
14:32they would have been
14:32in the field
14:33for a long time
14:35they've got to make
14:36sure that
14:37they set
14:38their feelings up
14:40to the tee
14:40because it's an
14:41important phase
14:42of the game
14:46flashes on it
14:47and Hazelwood
14:48has an early wicket
14:50no runs on the board
14:51yet for South Africa
14:53but they have already
14:54lost one of the openers
14:57yeah this is the danger
14:58of Hazelwood
14:59with the new ball in hand
15:04just getting one to go
15:05across the left
15:06and
15:11onto the front foot
15:12he goes
15:13a strength of Markham
15:15as he drives through
15:15the offside
15:16for his first boundary
15:25lovely
15:26that is a thing
15:27of beauty
15:30deserves the applause
15:31around Kingsmeade
15:38quality shot
15:40he's bringing it back in
15:41he just punched him
15:42down the ground
15:42with authority
15:43in such good touch
15:44hasn't he
15:45how she got
15:45what is he
15:46500s
15:46on the county circuit
15:47two are ready
15:48for for Western
15:49province
15:50and this is when
15:51he's at his best
15:51when he transfers
15:52his weight
15:53and punches it
15:53down the ground
15:58take a photo
15:59take a photo
16:00of that
16:00when you get a chance
16:02right out of the textbook
16:04quality
16:04quality cricket
16:09whipped
16:10nicely
16:12boundaries coming
16:13from South Africa
16:13it's a good counter punch
16:1423 for one
16:15after seven
16:36this doesn't look good
16:38the umpires are
16:39conferring
16:48here Pat Cummins
16:49there
16:49was that a hard
16:49no
16:49that was a hard
16:50no
16:53yeah it's an
16:54unfortunate situation
16:55and you do feel
16:55for the people
16:56that come in
16:57it doesn't feel
16:58like it's too dark
16:59from a spectator's
17:01perspective
17:01but there has to be
17:02consistency
17:03and they've made
17:03a call on day one
17:04they've got a reading
17:06that's going to plan
17:07as long as there's a
17:07build-up of cloud
17:08and the sun gets
17:09behind it
17:09eventually these
17:11unnatural larts
17:11will take over
17:13and the larts
17:14will be offered
17:15it's not ideal
17:17we'd love to see
17:17a little bit more
17:18cricket take place
17:18and people thinking
17:20well if I didn't play
17:20club cricket in this
17:21lart I wouldn't play
17:21any cricket at all
17:23but it's
17:23it is a standard
17:24that's set
17:25and as you say
17:26once that initial
17:26reading is taken
17:27they can't waver
17:29from that
17:29so disappointing
17:31but it has been
17:31an enthralling
17:32day's test cricket
17:33what's going was
17:33one of
17:35and
17:36I'm stuck
17:36what's going
17:36to do
17:36I'm done
17:36wh
17:38Fr
17:41what's
17:41kind of
