00:16Welcome to Oktoberfest in Blumenau, Brazil.
00:20How did this traditional Bavarian Folk Festival get here?
00:24How German is it really? And how Brazilian?
00:27And most importantly, what are visitors wearing? Let's find out!
00:32The atmosphere, the joy!
00:35Strapped beer!
00:37It's passed down from generation to generation.
00:40From the youngest to the oldest, everyone comes dressed up and celebrates.
00:46It's great! Our first Oktoberfest!
00:50We like it a lot. It's a lot of fun and a lot bigger than I was expecting.
00:55Blumenau's festival is one of many Oktoberfests now held around the world.
01:01Attracting almost 700,000 visitors each year, it's also one of the biggest.
01:06Many visitors try to dress Bavarian, for fun, tradition, and because you get half off the entrance fee.
01:13Unlike in Munich, you have to pay to party here.
01:16To make the festival really worth it, you first have to dress appropriately, otherwise you're missing out.
01:22This is original lederhosen from Germany.
01:26I've put on a flower crown and a little dress.
01:30It has to have an apron.
01:34My stockings and black moccasins.
01:38The German Village Park is the center of the festival.
01:41It's open year-round.
01:43Alongside costume and souvenir shops are many German restaurants.
01:48And, of course, lots and lots of… beer.
01:54Blumenau is the beer capital of Brazil.
01:57Many breweries here brew according to German beer purity laws.
02:01One-liter pours, like in Munich, aren't normally served here.
02:05But those who don't want to drink from plastic cups can buy their own mug.
02:08We come here, have a little beer, buy mugs, it's all great.
02:15The 41st celebration is underway.
02:20Tatiana Krival tells us how it all began in 1984.
02:25So, the Oktoberfest began because we had a really bad flood.
02:30And then we decided to make the people happy, so we brought the Oktoberfest from Germany over here to Brazil.
02:38So, we began with a really small party and was such successful.
02:43So, they just kept going and was growing and growing so fast and so big.
02:49The later it is, the busier it gets.
02:51Partying on the weekend goes until 3 a.m., while in Munich everything closes by midnight.
02:57Brazilians have a lot of stamina.
02:59We waited all year for finally the Oktoberfest to start.
03:03And we love to celebrate the German traditions in a Brazilian way.
03:07What that means, we don't want the party to finish.
03:11And we go in nearly 3 weeks partying even longer than Munich.
03:19The chicken dance, Brazilian style.
03:22It's an Oktoberfest classic in Blumenau.
03:25German folk music, Portuguese lyrics and Brazilian choreography.
03:45In Munich, people dance on the benches, but here there's a huge dance floor.
03:53It's so fun.
03:55Brazilians and Germans suit each other very well.
03:57Both love to party and when we combine our cultures, everyone's happy.
04:02The best is a German party, Brazilian style, where both cultures melt together.
04:07It's a great vibe, it's awesome.
04:11Every year it gets busier.
04:13Visitors come from all over Brazil and even neighboring countries.
04:17At Oktoberfest in Blumenau, the atmosphere is just as exciting as the original in Munich.
04:22A few days later, we've moved through to Kalab чая.
04:23Lots of communizers and 55-50 factions.
04:25That's kind of a small break.
04:26The world is so awesome, we can call it to the early days.
04:27It never's ever been a very new country.
04:27The world is still a big part of the day.
