00:04The security bubble that we've enjoyed for so long is no longer there, security is now a much
00:10more important thing for all levels of government and industry to start to consider because you can't
00:17put a value on safety. That's the focus here at Millipol Qatar in Doha, where I'm taking a look
00:26at the technology designed to help and seeing how it works. Whether it's a cyber attack, a break-in
00:32or a major fire, keeping people safe means preparing for different threats. This year's edition we have
00:39around 280 different companies, 70% of them coming from all over the globe, only 30% are local. What
00:48we are offering through the exhibition is solutions for whatever challenges that different governments
00:54and different countries are facing. And those solutions obviously have been tested in different countries.
01:03Among the exhibits is a drone fitted with traffic lights intended for use when signals at a junction fail.
01:11We are calling it flying traffic signal. What we did, we have compacted the traffic signal controller
01:17in a small box and we have included the traffic signal head around it and hang it to a drone.
01:24So this drone is responsible for mandating the traffic during the major failure of the traffic signal,
01:31rather than sending traffic police to the middle of the intersection and doing that temporary traffic
01:37mandating. We are doing it over this drone, having everybody life safe until the traffic signal restore to its functionality.
01:51This van has been fitted out as a mobile command center. It can be configured for drone operations or crowd
01:59monitoring.
02:03What we do is that we bring actually all the technologies into a certain van. You can use it for
02:09different
02:10purposes and 100% customizable as per the need of each entity. So either for a drone launching,
02:16for using for the crowd management, on like what you want exactly.
02:27Now I want to find out how this equipment is used in real emergency. I'm with Alexandros Nakatamitis from
02:33West Bay Petroleum. Alex, can you take me through the time you've used this and how it helps?
02:37Absolutely. So what we have in front of us here is a fixed wing VTOL drone, vertical takeoff and landing.
02:43And one of the biggest applications for emergencies that this is used for is in search, search and
02:49rescue. So we use it to find people in very, very big areas and then try to rescue them from
02:56those
02:56locations. Drones right now, I mean, you can put, for example, on something like this, you can put a
03:01fire hose and use it for fire situations, for industrial security, or you have, for example, a gas
03:07leak. You can launch a drone that has a gas system on it and can enter without having to put
03:13a human life
03:13at risk. Once the drone comes back, we are able to run those individual photos through algorithms
03:19and then essentially try to find what looks like a person. On the water, one project involves adapting
03:28a boat to operate without anyone on board with missions set from a control center. We are able
03:35to lay out missions to the boat and it is able to execute those missions autonomously to detect
03:41objects, go survey areas where it needs to survey, execute its mission, and also return back while
03:48maintaining the communication back and forth with the command centers. When you adopt artificial
03:54intelligence, there are numerous security layers that you have to pass it through and vet the performance
04:00of such system. You have to be careful and diligent when you employ that.
04:07This remotely operated robot is fitted with cameras and sensors for detecting gas and radiation.
04:14We have AI on the robot, but also human intelligence is important. So the human can control everything
04:22on the robot, the arm, the movement, the point of gravity, everything can be controlled through this
04:28control. So our main goal is just to if anyone has to be harmed, it has to be a machine
04:36and not a human
04:37person that should be always safe. Here at MiniPol, we've seen technology designed to protect our data,
04:46our buildings, and our lives. The goal is simple. Spot danger early, respond quickly,
04:52and keep more people out of harm's way.
