"There is going to be a blue wave," election analyst Dr Larry Sabato predicted on Nov 2, the eve of the midterm elections, with the Democrats taking control over the US House, Senate and gubernatorial majorities.

Early voting, whether in person or by mail, has already set a record with 57 million votes cast as of Nov 2 afternoon, up from 45 million in all of the 2022 midterms.

00:23This way, this way, you have to talk.
00:34Well, you can see from the Senate for Politics map for the Senate that there are a lot of
00:39competitive races.
00:40Look at the striped states, for example.
00:43Texas is the one that looms here because, incredibly, a Democrat might win a Texas U.S.
00:50Senate seat for the first time since 1988.
00:55This is going to be a blue wave, and the blue wave simply means that Democrats are going
01:01to come back in a midterm election and they're going to defeat a fair number of Republicans,
01:06especially in the House of Representatives, but probably in the U.S. Senate, too.
01:10They're also going to pick up state governorships, which are very important in the American scheme
01:15of things.
01:15Now, what's interesting is Trump was hurt even in the first midterm.
01:20He lost 41 seats in the House of Representatives, which was a lot.
01:26He'll come close to doing that again.
01:29And of course, in the Senate, if he does, in fact, lose it, as I think he will, that's
01:35worse than in 2018, his first midterm.
01:37He did not lose the Senate then.
01:39He only lost the House.
01:40And keeping the Senate meant he could get his Supreme Court nominees through, for example.
01:45And his cabinet appointments, when he had to replace a cabinet member, that will be gone.
01:49I don't think Democrats are likely to vote for a single person he nominates for just
01:55about anything.
01:56So it's going to be a difficult two years for him if these things happen.
02:01The voters we're hearing from in a variety of ways tell us they can't make ends meet.
02:05They're most concerned about inflation and the high cost of living.
02:10Some have said it's the worst they've ever experienced.
02:12And certainly in rural areas and for farmers, for example, it probably is.
02:17And remember, that has been a strength for Trump.
02:20He has carried rural areas 70 percent or more.
02:24And now in many of them, he's below 50 percent, well below 50 percent.
02:30Republicans can't win without overwhelming support from rural areas and farmers.
02:36So it's a major problem for the Republican Party.
02:42So early voting this time, we really saw unprecedented turnout.
02:46So we actually had an increase from a like election, 53 percent increase of people turning
02:51out to vote early.
02:52So great news for Wake County voters, you know, that we have that participation level in this
02:58upcoming election.
02:59We're proud of our voters for showing up early.
03:01We are anticipating a high voter turnout for Election Day as well.
03:05But again, that early voting number does alleviate some of that strain on Election Day.
03:10So we actually met with our local law enforcement, our emergency management team.
03:14We even worked with our Wake County attorneys as well just to talk about some of the things
03:19that could be could be a horizon issue.
03:22I know there's a lot of information kind of being floated in nationally about ICE being
03:28at the polls.
03:29So I think the biggest thing for us is making sure that we're ahead of those things.
03:33We know what to do.
03:34We know the partners to call and we've made those relationships ahead of time.
03:37So it's a smooth Election Day if anything were to occur.
03:40When I'm on the ground, when I'm going to these rallies, I went to a Watley rally on Saturday.
03:45He is super strong.
03:46His message is super strong.
03:48People are, you know, they're just very much behind him in North Carolina.
03:52I'm hoping that the Republicans come out and, you know, Republicans tend to wait until
03:57Election Day to vote.
03:58We've tried to get people out earlier this year.
04:00We started pushing months ago to get vote early, as early as you can.
04:04But we're seeing that the trend we're seeing is that as it gets closer to Election Day, we're
04:08seeing more higher Republican turnout.
04:10I think we've done everything we could do.
04:13We left no stone unturned.
04:15We pushed as hard as we could push.
04:18We, you know, we were out canvassing.
04:21We were out, we had phone banking going on.
04:23We had a lot of get-out-the-vote events with elected officials.
04:27And then with the text blasting, I think, you know, that helped a lot as well.
04:45We have to do it.
04:48You
