00:01In 2015, a lesion spread through my spinal cord,
00:04and within a day, my left side was effectively left paralyzed.
00:10I didn't make the recovery that was expected.
00:14Months passed in bed, and I watched life move on without me,
00:18and I felt incredibly isolated.
00:24But outside the window, I also watched the birds swoop
00:27and the seasons turn and the tides ebb and flow.
00:31Resting outside, I felt held by the grass and the elements.
00:36Nature seemed to be moving at a slower pace that really aligned with my body.
00:42The more I tuned into that rhythm,
00:44the more hollow our culture of speed and endless consumption began to feel,
00:49and the more painful its disconnection from the natural world and our bodies.
00:55Just walking again, fully immersed in nature, did become my daily purpose.
01:02In 2021, I set out to walk 125 miles of the Cornish Celtic Way.
01:09The heat really flared my symptoms.
01:10The pack was unbelievably heavy and probably not suitable for somebody with a spinal cord injury.
01:17I needed to halve my days and then halve them again.
01:21It really meant I had to remove all expectations and completely slow down and surrender
01:27to the elements and where my body was at.
01:31I began to really trust my body again.
01:35I let my senses lead, listening to the land.
01:39Slowing down turned uncertainty into joy.
01:44Nature was teaching me that there is no normal.
01:47It bends, adapts, regrows.

01:57Yeah.
02:06There are so many trees that we have lived in Europe today.
