00:00A couple times there's been people shouting from their cars going,
00:03are you in heated rivalry? And I go, no, no, no, the other one.
00:11I was super familiar with the books, so I kind of knew what we were diving into in a way.
00:17So I read my book specifically because I just wanted to know a little bit more about my character
00:21and how his thought process was. But those books are very spicy.
00:26I would find myself a lot of the times reading them and feeling like I shouldn't be reading this
00:29kind of, especially in a public area. You kind of feel very, this is very private,
00:34even though no one else can hear what you're reading. It feels as if everyone in the room is
00:37like listening to what you're reading on that page. So it was definitely a fun experience to read.
00:43I'll say that. Yeah. My fiance read the books and she thought that this could be a really good
00:48opportunity for me. And this specific character that she took a liking to, she said that that's
00:54a great character for me that I, she thinks I could play. And, uh, I went in and I auditioned
00:59for Logan at first and I didn't hear anything, unfortunately. But then as time went on a couple
01:04months later, it was April and, um, uh, this audition came in for Dean. It was April 29th and,
01:12um, my manager, Michael called me and he was like, it was the quickest conversation we ever had.
01:17Cause usually when we talk, we talk for 20 minutes, this was 90 seconds, this conversation,
01:21he was like, they just want to meet with you. And they just want to have a conversation. Like,
01:24is it another audition? Do I have to memorize? No, no, no. They just want to, they just want to
01:27talk to you. Okay. Bye. And then, and then he, then he hung up the phone quickly. I'm like, okay,
01:31I don't know. I honestly thought that they wanted to call me to tell me that I didn't get the
01:34part,
01:35which would really suck. Um, and so I rushed home. I did a little ice bath on my face,
01:42you know, to de-puff and everything and just look as good as I possibly can put on my favorite
01:47shirt
01:48and, um, went downstairs in the basement and I hopped on zoom and they basically just said,
01:54you know, would you be this character? Would you be Dean for the show? And I just remember like,
01:59it was just like, there was such a pinch me moment. Like finally, after all the auditions and,
02:06and close calls and getting so close to things for, for years, uh, finally pays off in that moment.
02:11It was all worth it at the end of the day, you know, to, to have all those no's and
02:15then to
02:15finally get that one. Yes. And it's, uh, leading to hopefully a lot more great,
02:21great opportunities as well. So yeah, it's been amazing.
02:23I don't have to take this slander. I'm a responsible, upstanding member of society.
02:28Dean.
02:32I'll be ready in 30 minutes. I had a good feeling about the show. I,
02:35I didn't know it was going to be like this, but I had a good feeling when we all got
02:38together
02:39as a cast, the chemistry, the writing, it was all coming together, I think. And I just kind of knew
02:45then and there when we wrapped that, I think that we have something special to show to the world. And
02:48now we have a lot more to show as well. Since the show's come out, it's kind of, what's been
02:53nice is
02:54that we've been able to go right into production and just start working immediately. Um, some things
02:59are a little different. I'll be walking around and I'll see kind of, someone will kind of like look at
03:04me
03:04and kind of glance for a second and then take a double take and then go on their phone and
03:09then
03:09look again, nod their head and then approach me and come say hi and go, are you the guy in
03:16the
03:16off campus show? And then, you know, take a little photo with them. But besides that,
03:20everything's been the same. Everyone's been very lovely and sweet.
03:22Can I just be the first to say how thrilled we are that you decided to pledge Sigtail?
03:26We welcome you to our brotherhood.
03:28On paper, the character can be the most typical frat boy you could imagine. But I really wanted to
03:34make him, yes, that, but in a lovable way. But also there's like a sensitive, sweet side to him that
03:39you can see. And in those scenes with Dean and Ali in the first season, there were lots of moments,
03:43I think, to kind of pull it out of there, but also covering at the same time. So I really
03:47liked
03:48playing that part, the sensitive side to him, because that's, uh, that's kind of like me in real life.
03:53So it was cool to kind of put that into that character.
03:55I'm sorry you can't be with your family though. Seems like you miss them.
04:01I'm looking to be here with you.
04:03This season has felt, uh, different in many ways, I think. In the first season,
04:08you see a lot more of that playboy charmfulness from Dean. I think this season, uh, there's a lot of
04:14exploration when it comes to, uh, just growing as a character, as a human being. And he goes through
04:20a lot of things and he learns a lot about himself. I would always ask for advice from
04:25Belmont and Ella and they would just look at me and go, you've got it, man, you're good. And I'd
04:30be
04:30like, all right. And that's the only advice I needed. I just needed a little, I think a reassurance
04:34every once in a while, like, you got this, you can do it. And I'm really excited actually for, for
04:39fans to, to see what, you know, happens next season. It's going to be really, really, really fun.
04:44Obviously it's off campus, but it's different in ways, I think, this season than the first season,
04:51which is good. I think we need something new and spicy to change things up a bit.
04:59My mom actually was the one who put me into, uh, it's like, it's called Timbits, like the
05:05Little Timbits hockey, uh, Tim Hortons thing. And, um, she put me in and I played a couple years of
05:10house league and then I tried out for a rep team and I got on and I just played hockey
05:15my whole life.
05:15And that's kind of what I wanted to do with my life. And unfortunately that didn't work out,
05:18but it worked out in other ways. So I'm grateful for all that. I always liked being a class clown
05:24and,
05:24and I went to some drama camps when I was a kid and I just said, you know what,
05:28it would be really cool to just do a play and have everybody come watch it. It would be really
05:32cool to get in front of an audience and perform like that. And I loved it since day one, since
05:36I
05:36got the part there, all the rehearsals and the preparation for it all was really exciting. And
05:41I wanted to explore more of that and learn more about the field. I was never tough enough to be
05:45a
05:45hockey player. And my coach, Sean Gray, he told me when I, he went to go see my play, I
05:50did a,
05:50a musical called Grease, Danny Zuko. I got to play that. And, um, he went and saw me and he
05:57just
05:58told me one thing and he just put his hand on my shoulder and he said, you're too pretty to
06:02be
06:02a hockey player. You should stick to acting. And I go, are you telling me I'm a bad hockey player?
06:07And he's like, no, no, you're a great hockey player, but I think you're a better actor.
06:10And, uh, you know, Sean unfortunately passed away, but he, those words meant a lot to me. And I,
06:16I'll never forget that. I'm pretty much Tom Cruise on that ice. Yeah. I'm doing,
06:25I'm doing a whole lot of my own stunts, but I love it though. It's fun. I like, if I
06:29can,
06:29I would prefer to do them because it feels more natural doing it. And also when I see it at
06:35the
06:35end of the day, it's cool to know that I did that and like pulled it off, but they're not
06:39crazy stunts.
06:40I mean, some body checking, couple stick handle plays, diving for the puck or whatever. So that's
06:46not like I'm not jumping buildings. So those guys, I'm basically Connor McDavid to them.
06:51They're so bad at hockey and it's really funny to watch them fall on the ice, but they try,
06:55they really try so hard. Like even this season, Jalen always skates up to me and he says, Hey,
07:00Steven, Steven, look at this. And then he'll show me like a tight turn. I go,
07:04really good Jalen. I'm so proud of you. That was fantastic. You did a great job.
07:07He's like, you think so? And I go, no. And then, you know, just kind of bully him a bit,
07:11but they all work really hard and they try really hard and they actually have been doing a lot more
07:15of their hockey stunts this season. So, um, that's really exciting. They have improved quite a bit.
07:21Unfortunately, I don't think the NHL is going to be calling them anytime soon.
07:27We hang out too much, honestly, now at this point, we, we are all brothers and it all started
07:32doing the hockey training at the very beginning. We spent so much time together. By the time that we went
07:37on screen, it was like, we've already known each other for years. So I think we nailed that chemistry
07:41between the four of us. And I think that was a really important part of the show. Yeah. And
07:46there's a lot more of that this season too, which is going to be really, really fun. You get to
07:50see
07:50a lot more of them together and bonding. Can I go work out now? I don't think he's done. No,
07:55no, no, no. I'm very much not done. A general is only as good as his troops. Okay. Where's Gary?
08:00Are we supposed to be your troops? My dad's like my biggest fan. He's really like,
08:05he's super excited about all this. I think he's watched episode six, maybe a hundred times now.
08:10Yeah. Yeah. He, he's very proud of me. And sometimes he'll send me clips and you know,
08:16yeah, like I have to click not interested a lot because it's, it's, it can get a little much
08:21sometimes like seeing yourself that often. It, it feels a little like weird. Usually what my, my,
08:28my FYP is, is just animals and babies and, and cute videos like that. But yeah,
08:34I have to click not interested when that comes up. And my sister, I mean, obviously she's very
08:38proud of the show, but she's my sister. So she'll always tease me. And she goes, you know,
08:41you guys just aren't as hot as like the OC or like a one tree hill guys. I'm sorry. Like
08:45you just,
08:46I just don't see it. And I'm like, thanks a lot, Ashley. I really appreciate that. But then she goes,
08:50but you did a good job though. And I go, thank you.
08:56Victoria keeps me grounded a lot. She knows me out of anybody the most. So it's, that's why it's,
09:01I feel very grounded with her always being there and supporting me. And I couldn't be more grateful
09:06for that. And she always stuck by my side. So I always appreciate that. Do you remember that like
09:11very first time you two met? Yeah, I do. I do. It was a dance and I was absolutely terrified
09:21to
09:23kiss her or do anything. But I think the night ended with a kiss on the cheek after I asked
09:29her
09:29out. And I don't know if it was me who kissed her or she kissed me. I don't know. It
09:38could have
09:38been anybody, but, um, it was a special moment and I'll never forget that. What's the most romantic
09:53took her to a drive-in, got her some flowers, wrote a nice letter one time. I wrote a really
09:59sweet letter. I haven't done that in a while. I should probably do that again soon, actually.
10:04You know what? Just, just showing up and being me. That's, that's right, Victoria?
10:08Yeah, exactly. So I would say that. Yeah.
10:17I'm just so grateful to be here in this position. It's not easy to get that one job and for
10:22somebody to
10:22give you the thumbs up. And so I just want to work, keep working hard and, and, and continue to,
10:28to play interesting and fun, dynamic characters in the future. So I want to do rom-coms. I want
10:33to do drama, comedies. Would love to do a horror movie. Um, we have some really interesting and cool
10:39upcoming directors too, that I would love to work with eventually one day. I would say the horror is
10:44my favorite genre. So any director, let me know. I'm there. What do I envision in 10 years from now?
10:51I don't
10:51even know what I'm going to do tomorrow, but I kind of live in the moment. And obviously when it
10:56comes
10:57to the future, be healthy, be financially stable, and to continue on to work on projects that mean
11:04a lot to me and mean a lot to, uh, audiences.
