A rebellion has hit the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir as Srinagar MP Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi resigned from Parliament and the party. Speaking at a rally in Budgam, he accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of failing to uphold core election promises, including statehood and the fight for Article 370. The resignation coincides with growing discontent among legislators denied cabinet ministerships after a recent cabinet expansion. While party leaders dismissed speculation of a split and highlighted internal democracy, more than 15 legislators met to discuss their demands, leaving the Chief Minister facing a significant challenge to maintain party unity.
