00:06Qatar says there is hope of an interim deal between the United States and Iran with mediators
00:11passing proposals between the two sides in real time. Speaking here at the foreign ministry,
00:16spokesperson Dr. Majl Ansari said a Qatari delegation held more than three hours of talks
00:21in Tehran yesterday. Both sides are now reviewing proposals. Confidence is built through the process,
00:28not specific actions. We are working towards an interim deal that would hopefully create that
00:34confidence-building environment where we can see commitments being applied on the ground and both
00:40parties adhering to the commitments. We need such a phased-in approach to a sustainable peace in
00:47the region. It can only happen through finding a diplomatic resolution to the crisis as it stands
00:53right now. Ansari said Qatar was judging the talks by the official responses to its proposals rather
00:59than public statements. Qatar is also working closely with Pakistan and coordinating with its Gulf neighbors.
01:05Ansari also condemned threats to ships belonging to Qatar and other countries, saying freedom of
01:11navigation through the Strait of Hormuz was non-negotiable. He warned that further escalation
01:16would affect the negotiations. Muhammad Al-Ashi, your news, Doha.
