00:00They've won five games in a row. Five in a row. Are they good? They are good. Okay, let's 888
00:05-957-9570.
00:07We'll get to Draymond. Don't worry. Yeah, and you asked me before the show, and it caught me a little
00:11bit off guard, and you said, are they good? Are they good? And I paused for a second, and I
00:15said,
00:16yeah, they're good. And the reason why I think that they're good is that you've got Yaxel Lendeborg,
00:22who is unbelievable. He's good. God, I know. Like, and Steph Curry, in all the games he's going to
00:27play, which is going to be about 60-65, if at all, you know, health permitting, he's also
00:33phenomenal. But all the other pieces, including soon-to-be friend of the program, Charles Bassey,
00:39who came out there, and, like, everybody wants them to have a big, and they want to have a center,
00:44and he's not a 7'1 or 7'2 guy, but that's a big man. He's an interesting player, isn't
00:51he? Yep.
00:52Yeah. He's interesting. He can finish around the rim. He can change his shot. Do you know
00:57what my favorite thing is about him? You go ahead and hack him. He's going to go make
01:01his free throws. I, like, and then he's doing an interview with Bonte, and Juan Toscano was
01:09in there yesterday. JTA. Right? And they're all chatting with him, and he basically said,
01:15yeah, all this, all that Suns stuff, everybody out there, this was a bunch of fake tough guys.
01:20Fake tough guys. I'm like, give me more of Charles Bassey. Like, you need a center, badly.
01:28I don't want to get, it's not time for the organization to lean on him. Interesting option.
01:34He's an interesting player. Yes. And yes, he'll join us at four. And a very interesting story,
01:39if you follow his career from, you know, being a kid in Nigeria, and he goes through Usai Ujiri's
01:47camps out there, and the league that he helped set up, and he comes to America, and he bounces
01:52around to, you know, a couple of different high schools, and he goes to Western Kentucky,
01:56and he eventually goes from there. And he was an academic all-conference guy at Conference
02:01USA. And, you know, he makes himself available for the draft. He gets drafted very low, second
02:08round. And it's, you know, G League, and you're cut, and you're cut, and you're here, and you're
02:12there, and San Antonio, and Golden State, and Santa Cruz. And now it feels like maybe
02:16they have found a diamond in the rough.
02:18I mean, how many times do we need to be reminded in sports, and hell, forget sports. It's just
02:23like life. You're looking for the right fit. And a lot of times, these guys bounce around,
02:31and therefore then that reputation runs with them. Like, oh, they're not good, because they've
02:35been given up on by them, and then it went over here, and that didn't work out. Maybe this is
02:41just a fit. Maybe this is a perfect fit. Or maybe it's just a moment in time. I don't
02:47know, but he's an interesting player. And if he's kind of consistent, Yaxo's a player.
02:53I think we've moved beyond that. Oh, by the way, Steph Curry, yeah, he's not going to play
03:00three games in four nights. But when we go back to the runner's knee story from earlier
03:06this year, wouldn't you be excited if I could tell you then that the start of this season would
03:11look like this? He's going to play most of the games, and when he plays, he's going to play
03:14really, really well. Right. I think that's a win. Brandon Pajemski is obviously taking the next step,
03:20and everybody's perspective on him is different, because you're not looking at him to be like
03:24the straw that stirs the drink anymore. DeAnthony Melton looks good. Brandon Williams looks like a
03:29very key piece off of the bench. Nihang will come in there and hook the three in there every now
03:34and
03:35again throw a ball around. Like, they've won five basketball games in a row. Are they good?
03:43And what do we do with that? Because remember, oh, how are we going to win games until Jimmy arrives?
03:52Well, you've won five games in a row. So I got to think we're at least on the front end
04:00of having
04:00a conversation about how this changes the perspective on the entire season and the urgency
04:08of getting a Jimmy Butler and a Moses Moody back in uniform at some point over maybe, I don't know,
04:14the next two and a half months. Right. Is that realistic? I think you could look at like January
04:191st for Jimmy Butler and maybe a little bit further down the road for Moses Moody. I'm not sure exactly
04:24where they both are in their relative rehab stints and how quickly they're able to come back. But
04:30the fact that you've won five in a row and you could look at it and go, well, I mean,
04:34schedule Sam, the Clippers are the Clippers, whatever. But you beat Denver on the road,
04:39which is very rare. You beat Minnesota without Anthony Edwards. I get it, but still, that's a
04:44good team. You beat the Lakers in a payback spot. The Clippers are, I think, more down than what we
04:49would have thought. And they're going to stay down for quite a long time. But Phoenix took you behind
04:54the woodshed when you went there. Yeah. And the Clipper game, if we're going to say, hey,
04:58you beat Minnesota without Ant, well, you beat the Clippers without Steph and Draymond. Fair.
05:02Yeah. The Axel scored 37 points. So, yeah, the schedule Sam thing is tough for me in the NBA.
05:11Do I have this right? They didn't win five in a row last year. Ever. Ever. No. No.
05:17They've already done it. And I'm not making fun of anybody. When they were all in three,
05:22it was like, I don't know if they're going to win 20 games this year.
05:28What would the odds have been? Go ahead. Trade on anything. What could I get when the Warriors
05:34were 0-3 after losing in Phoenix? It's October 25th. What could you get for they're going to
05:41win the next five in a row? It probably wasn't on there, but I do know that if you looked
05:46at
05:46the win total, which started at, I think, 38 or 39 based on, you know, Cal sheet trade
05:52on anything. After they started 0-3, the market told you that it was down to 33 or 34. And
05:58now they sit at 5-3. And if you want to jump in and try to trade on the Warriors
06:03season win
06:04total, it's probably back up to 38 or higher.
06:07Yep. I'll look at that, actually. And oh, by the way, they play three more home games this
06:13week against, uh, the two and five heat, the two and five magic and the three and four
06:22Pelicans. Is it going to be an eight game win streak? It could be. I mean, it very well
06:30could be like other words. Good. They are good. And the reason why I say they are good
06:36is based on, I guess it might be a small sample size Steve of last night where that was a
06:44game
06:44third game in four nights. And even though you had Stefan Draymond back after rest, well,
06:48Draymond didn't make it even, uh, past the third quarter because you know, he lost his
06:54way yet again. And you're looking at that game and you're thinking, you know what? I get
06:58it. It's going to be tough and you can't win them all. Blah, blah, blah. You're down 17,
07:02but they found a way to chip away. No Draymond green. The offense came to life. Steph Curry
07:08was doing Steph things. Yaksa Lendeborg was again, a really solid player. Pods is doing
07:14things that pods haters don't want to talk about, but Brandon Pajemski is a solid winning
07:20player. Next thing you know, you come all the way back and you take the lead. And even in the
07:25fourth quarter, when you had the lead, it felt for a minute, like, okay, you got the lead,
07:29but you're going to find a way to muck it up. And yet you were able to hold on and
07:33get
07:33the W. They have one more back to back until a couple of days before Christmas. One more.
07:40That's it, huh? So maybe Steph Curry also plays in, in almost all of the games.
07:47You would figure, but you're right about like the back to back. You've got at Dallas on a
07:51Wednesday and then at Memphis on the Thursday, that'll be a classic, like Draymond, Al and
07:57Steph. Like some of them will sit one game. Some will sit the other game. You won't play
08:00in both.
08:01Hmm. Um, let's take some calls on this. We'd love to hear warrior fans perspective. Are
08:07they good? Where the hell did this come from? What do we like? Because I also, they started
08:13winning games and I think we got very sidetracked. And by the way, uh, spoiler alert, we will
08:20again, later today, we will get sidetracked on Draymond. I promise it's coming, but we're
08:26sidetracked by Yaxel and then Steph's knee and, and his performances pods looks really
08:35good. And then the Valkyries just kind of poked in and won a championship. And there's
08:39all of these things going on.
08:41Niners are six and one.
08:42Sure. And, and so all of a sudden you stop and you go, hold on a second. At what point
08:47do we start talking about their record? Because I, I, a week and a half ago, we'd given up
08:54on that idea. Nobody ever like, we were like, Oh, we're not going to, we're not going to
08:58do the record this year because we're going to suck and we're going to miss the playoffs
09:02and all of these things. And now they've won five in a row. I think we're supposed to
09:05talk about the actual outcomes of the games and not just make this about winning rookie
09:11of the year. Maybe you win a playoff spot. Um, let's go to John Mark and in Walnut Creek.
09:17Hey, John Mark, thanks for calling. What's up?
09:21Hey, how you guys doing?
09:22We're great, man. Thank you for calling us.
09:25Hey, thank you. Uh, Willard Dibbs. You guys are my favorite on the, on the, uh, on the
09:29channel. I just wanted to chime in real quick. Cause I heard in the crossover, you were talking
09:32about, you know, Draymond and, you know, I guess fans or whatever, not really appreciating
09:38Draymond. I'm going to say this without Draymond, there is no championships for the
09:42Warriors without Draymond. There's no real enforcer on the floor. Okay. He does what he
09:47does because it's necessary. Just like, just like, um, back in the day when you had the
09:53bulls, you know, they had their enforcer, right? We got ours and you got, you can't discount
09:57that. Um, another thing about Draymond this year that's changed is that he's taking more
10:02of a leadership role with Yaxel. And I see them hanging out all the time, talking to each
10:07other. That's great for Yaxel. And you saw what that's doing on the court as well. So
10:11I think Draymond's influence is, is always going to be huge for the Warriors inside the
10:16organization. That's why they appreciate them. And any fan that doesn't recognize how important
10:21Draymond is just doesn't know basketball. That's my take, you guys.
10:24John Mark, thanks.
10:25I appreciate y'all.
10:26Yeah, appreciate you.
10:27I think, um, at minimum, you have to say he has a point and this is kind of what I
10:34see,
10:35at least in this moment, I think it's been different year to year. It's not always been like
10:39this, but in this moment, I guess the question I have for a fan that is done with Draymond
10:46Draymond doesn't, he not good anymore. They're better without him. I hate his antics. Um, things
10:52like last night, I just can't take it anymore. The Warriors appreciate him and, and, and, but
11:01why don't you, that'd be my question. You don't have to, I don't care if you don't like the
11:06guy. Um, I'm not saying that the detractors don't have a point as well, but that's what
11:11keeps going through my mind. Every time we see this, the golden state warriors franchise
11:16is activated by one thing, successful basketball. So if that's what they're trying to do, why
11:22are they so married to this guy and stand behind him in every moment? If he is what so many
11:30fans
11:31say he is, which is done and annoying, right? He's neither done. Well, he could be annoying.
11:37And I think that he at times can be annoying, but I look at last night, for example, and it
11:42was an unnecessary flagrant one. I thought it was a flagrant two. And then Dylan Brooks
11:46gets in his face and he grabs him by the, uh, the neck and he grabs him by the, the
11:51Jersey.
11:51And he basically is not going to allow him to come in there and bully the Warriors. You're
11:58going to allow him to come in there. And I do think that Draymond Green at the very base
12:01impact of what he does, that is what he does. Like Steph Curry doesn't have to go out there
12:06and try to be tough and try to square up with anybody else because Draymond Green is there
12:10and there's value in that.
