00:00So let me ask you about something you got caught saying during the World Series.
00:04It was really a nice gesture by Jake Bowers, right?
00:06He had the final ball that he had caught for the final out to end the World Series.
00:11He gave it to you.
00:13He is a free agent now, and you said to him.
00:15Just remember when you're on that board.
00:17You guys want to play it for yourself.
00:20Just remember.
00:22Just remember you should be.
00:23You might have a release, okay?
00:25So we had a little thing going.
00:26After every celebration, I'd shake his hand.
00:28And I'm saying, you rich so-and-so, you're going to leave us.
00:34We're not going to be able to pay you.
00:35You're going to leave us, and you're going to forget all about how we did things,
00:39how you were using the opposite field, taking your walks, all the things that made you great.
00:44I would just give him this rhetoric every time.
00:47Oh, no, you'll forget all about us.
00:48So I didn't mean to say these Yankees, like the 2026 or whatever Yankees are selfish.
00:56I was just referring to the teams that have a lot of high-paid, long-contract players.
01:03Sometimes it's harder to get all those guys together to play together.
01:06You know, I used the Yankees because I knew Jake was with them before.
01:10But yeah, I mean, I called Brian Cashman right away when I heard it got out.
01:14I didn't know how to talk about it.
01:15I heard the next morning we were at the parade, and everybody was talking about it.
01:19I'm like, what?
01:20How did they hear that?
01:21You know, I'm like, hot mic.
01:22And I'm like, whatever.
01:24So I picked up the phone and called Brian right away and had a good conversation.
01:28The best I could try to explain that I wasn't talking about the 2026 Yankees.
01:33Did Cashman buy it?
01:36He's just such a good guy, man.
01:38He's just a level-headed.
01:39I mean, he's been through so much.
01:40I wish I had his demeanor and his way of handling things.
01:46I felt horribly if I slandered the Yankees because I was just, you know, kind of referring
01:52to them as this iconic machine that maybe isn't as, I don't know.
01:59It's just an easy way to refer to it.
