00:00Good evening. I'm Sarita Mary. I work in private company as administration manager and I wish
00:11to take up Islam. It's only because of two men in my life. That is, I wish to marry a
00:28Muslim man
00:30and I see him every day, the way he talks to people and his simplicity and he's very religious.
00:42The second person will be Mr. Zakir. That is because I'm watching his speech and it is
00:57very informative to know about all the religion. Before I could take up Islam, I have one query
01:09to clarify by your end. That is, how is Mother Mary, that is Mary, Mother of Jesus, is described in
01:23Quran?
01:25My Shara sister is impressed with Islam by seeing a person who's religious and seeing my tapes.
01:32The only query is that how is Mother Mary described in Islam and what is the status? If you compare
01:41what is mentioned about Mother Mary, in the Quran, as well as the Bible, in the Quran, there is a
01:49full
01:49chapter, a full surah called as Maryam on the name of the mother of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him,
01:58Maryam. If you read all the books in the Bible, whether the Old Testament or New Testament, whether
02:06there are 66 books of the Protestants or 73 books of the Catholics, there is not a single book which
02:12is
02:12named after Mary. But there is a full chapter in the Quran called as Maryam.
02:18May Allah be pleased with her. And if you refer and analyze the story of the birth of Jesus Christ,
02:28peace be upon him, mentioned in the Bible and mentioned in the Quran, both are different.
02:34Overall, they are the same, but minute points if you note. For example, if you read the Bible, it says
02:40that when Archangel Gabriel comes and asks Mother Mary that you shall have a son, so she replies,
02:48how shall I have a son when I knoweth not a man? Knoweth not a man means sexually. Same thing
02:54in the Quran.
02:55If you read in the Quran, in Surah Al-Imran, chapter number 3, verse number 42, 247, where Mother Mary,
03:05Maryam, she says that how shall I have a son when no man has touched me? So Archangel Gabriel replies,
03:13when Allah decrees the matter and says to it be, and it is. So in the Quran, it says when
03:19Mother Mary
03:20questions that how shall I have a son when no man has touched me? That means no man has touched
03:27her
03:27sexually. So Archangel Gabriel replies, when Allah decrees the matter and says to it be, and it is.
03:33In the Bible, Archangel Gabriel replies that the Holy Spirit will come unto thee. So when a person has to
03:42think that what will the Holy Spirit come unto Mary and do what? So it lets your mind wander. It
03:49lets
03:49your mind wander what will the Holy Spirit come unto Mother Mary and do. The meaning is the same.
03:56It means that without any male intervention, Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, was born. But the way
04:02the Quran describes it is more sublime, is more divine, and is much more palatable as compared to the
04:09Bible. So if you read in the Quran, Allah says in Surah Al-Imran, chapter 3, verse 42, Allah says
04:16that
04:17the angels came and told that Allah has chosen thee, to Mother Mary, and chosen thee above the woman of
04:26all
04:26nations. So the honor given to Maryam in the Quran is that Allah says that she is the chosen woman
04:35above
04:36the woman above the woman of all nations. Imagine the Quran is being revealed in Arabic to the Arabs,
04:42and at that time, the Arabs and Jews did not get along well. The Quran says a Jewish woman,
04:50woman, the mother of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, mother Mary, has been honored as the woman
04:57chosen above all the other women. Imagine Muhammad ﷺ is giving the message to the Arabs, it is actually
05:06antagonizing them, that a Jewish woman is chosen above the Arab woman. He did not say that his wife
05:13Khatija, may Allah be pleased with her, was the chosen woman, or his daughter Fatima, may Allah be pleased with
05:20her,
05:20is the chosen woman. He could not, because Allah says that the revelation from Allah, he has to repeat it.
05:25He says in the Quran that Mother Mary is the chosen woman above the woman of all nations. So the
05:32respect
05:32given in the Quran to Mother Mary is far superior even than the Bible. Hope that answers the question, sister.
05:38I'm coming from two different cultures. So I'm half Filipino and half Indian. Now, my good friend,
05:47she brought me here. I believe everything about Islam. I have no other doubts, but I just want you to
05:54help me out. I mean, I'm not really sure what's really stopping me. So like, I just want to ask
06:02you
06:02if you can help me out. Sure sister, you can go ahead with the question. What is the doubt?
06:08And that's, that, that's the doubt. I don't know what's really stopping me. No, no, you are saying
06:12that you have read Islam and you agree with Islam, but there's something that is a doubt. Yeah,
06:20there's something that's stopping me, but I just don't know, I just really don't know. Sister has the
06:26question that there's something that is stopping me, but I don't know what's stopping. Sister, if you don't
06:33know what's stopping, so let that don't know. So just you forget about that and you take a step
06:39forward. Okay. Sister, do you believe that there's one God? Yes, I do believe. Do you believe that
06:46idol worship is prohibited? I do believe. Do you believe that Jesus is not God? Yes, I do believe.
06:54You do believe that he's not God. I do believe he is not a God. But he's a messenger of
06:59God. Yes.
07:00Do you believe prophet Muhammad is a messenger of God? Yes, I do. Sister, these two things that there is
07:05no God but Allah and prophet Muhammad is a messenger of Allah is sufficient for you to enter the school.
07:12When someone is entering the school, he need not be a graduate. He knows the basics. He enters the school
07:18and then he learns more. So my request to you would be that if you believe that there is no
07:23God
07:24but Allah and you believe that idol worship is prohibited, you believe prophet Muhammad is the
07:29messenger of God, you go ahead and inshallah God will guide you further and inshallah you'll be a more
07:34practicing Muslim. Okay. So do you want to accept Islam, sister? I think I should. Why not? Is there anyone
07:42forcing you? No, nobody's forcing me. Are you doing all of your own free will? Yes, I am. So inshallah,
07:49I'll just say it in Arabic and you can repeat it. Okay.
08:09I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
08:22It's the messenger and servant of Allah. It's the messenger. It's the messenger and servant of Allah.
08:27Mashallah, you have become Muslim.
08:30I pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to guide you further and to remove any obstacle.
08:37Hello, Dr. Zakir Naik. My name is Harris. I'm from Phoenix, Arizona in the United States. I'm an
08:43entrepreneur and a marketing manager. Two of my friends in America have converted watching YouTube videos
08:51videos of you, one of them a Christian, one of them an atheist. One of my friends presented me with
08:59how to deal with an atheist DVD of yours, which I did watch, but that didn't answer my question. And
09:07I've asked this question to a lot of people with no satisfactory answers, a lot of intelligent people.
09:12Of all the scholars that I've ever watched on YouTube, in my opinion, you are the most rational,
09:19logical, easy to understand kind of scholar that I've ever come across in my life.
09:27And it is really important that this question is answered because I've never had a satisfactory
09:32answer for this question. My question is like a coin with two sides. The first side of it is this,
09:38and this is the question. I'm somewhere between an atheist and agnostic. I'm not sure where. God has
09:44created this entire universe and the Quran speaks a lot about how it has taken so many days and mountains
09:51and this and that and life is going to be a test and whatnot. My question is, way before God
09:59decided
10:00to create this entire universe, before he decided to put human beings, before he decided to send
10:06Prophet Muhammad or Adam and Eve, way before he even planned about doing any of this, he knew
10:13the end result of it. He knows in the end he will be disappointed by certain people and he will
10:20throw
10:20them in hell fire. He knows they will be burning. He knows they'll be tortured and that is when they'll
10:26be repenting for what they've done. Way before he created the entire universe, he knows the outcome
10:32is gonna be bad. It may be good for certain people who are in heaven, but he knows that he
10:37can save those
10:38people from being in hell. Way before he even decided to go ahead with the creation. Yet he decides to
10:45go ahead with it, with all his godly logic. Why would he want to do that? The question, if I
10:51can
10:52just put it in this manner, how can God be so sadistic that he would actually go ahead with a
10:56plan which he knows is going to end up in that manner? That's the first side of the coin. The
11:00second side of the coin is, for some reason, if I believe that okay, God is all almighty and he
11:06understands everything is great, God is great. Why is God insisting in the Quran that look at the
11:13mountains, look at the protons, the electrons, this and that, everything is so synchronized,
11:17how amazing I am. Why is he forcing us to find his creation amazing when it is a piece of
11:22cake for
11:23God? I mean, he just had to say Kun and it was done. Then why is it a big deal
11:27if God has made this
11:28entire universe which is so amazing? Because for God it's nothing. So I should not be really amazed at
11:34his creation. He can do much more than this. So I do not understand why he wants us to respect
11:38what he has done or find it amazing what he has done. The brother asked a very good question and
11:44a very intellectual question. It's a very good question. And he has seen some of my tapes on
11:51YouTube even of atheism and this question that is troubling him, he hasn't got the answer to.
11:57The brother asked the question that almighty God knows everything before he created the heaven and
12:03the earth before he created a human being. Even if one person goes to hell, he could have avoided that.
12:11I mean, he could avoid being disappointed. Of course. I'll reply. The brother said even if one
12:16person goes to hell, it is as though God would be disappointed. Now coming to your question,
12:23I started a school. I started a school and you may have heard Islam international school. If a teacher
12:32takes an examination, if she's just, while she is giving the examination, she writes in the maths paper,
12:41two plus two is equal to how much? The student in front of her or him, the teacher, writes five.
12:49She can very well tell the student, change five to four. Would it be just on the teacher,
12:57during the test and examination, to correct the student who's writing a wrong answer?
13:02Right. But if she has an option that the student doesn't need to do any of that and still just
13:06go
13:06and get the student. No, no, no. I'm asking a simple question. I'm asking a simple question.
13:10The teacher has given the question paper. Right. All the students were informed about it.
13:13In that circumstance, you're right. For that particular situation.
13:16For that particular situation, the teacher can tell.
13:19Dear student, change five to four. What will the other students think about?
13:24Unjust. But God can be just at the same time. He can create a completely different condition.
13:29He doesn't have to go ahead with that situation. He's not bound by any situation.
13:32Brother is saying, Almighty God can create something which is perfect and will not make mistake.
13:37Correct? That God has already done. He created the angels. God created the angels. The angel never
13:44go against any commandment of God. But human being is a better creation than angel. The angels have got
13:50no free will of their own. If you have heard my tapes, if you have not heard, I'll tell you
13:54now.
13:54The angels are a creation of Almighty God, but not the best creation. Almighty God created the human
14:00beings. The human beings have a free will to go against God or to follow God. If you have chosen
14:06to be a human being, if you disobey his commandments, you go to hell. If you obey his commandments,
14:11you're superior than the angel. Because the angel doesn't have a free will of his own. Then he follows
14:18God. It's nothing great. The human beings are the better creation of Almighty God. Almighty God has given
14:25a free will. That's the different question that Almighty God knows. Because he has il-me-gayb.
14:31He has knowledge of the future. He is more superior. So he has created such a creation which has a
14:37free
14:37will. The fault is of human being, not God. No, but God has created us with that fault. And he
14:43knows he
14:44can avoid that. Not fault. Not fault. It's not fault, brother. It is free will. But why has he given
14:48us a free will
14:49He knows he's going to eventually put these many people in hell? Why is he doing something? That is a
14:53different creation. Would you want to create something which can think on its own or would you
14:59want to? Why would someone so compassionate be? No, brothers, that's what I tell you. What you want,
15:03God has already created an angel. I'm asking you, which is better? An angel following Almighty God or a
15:09human being following Almighty God? Which is better? For me, absolutely. If I get a second chance,
15:13I would want to be an angel. Why would I risk going to hell? Second chance, correct. That's why Almighty
15:17God says in
15:18Surah Araf, chapter number seven, verse number 172, Almighty God brought all the human beings from
15:25the loin of Adam and asked them, is there one God? All agreed. Almighty God says in Surah Hasar,
15:30chapter 59, verse number 21, if Almighty God revealed the Quran on the mountain, the mountain would
15:38shudder down. Almighty God says in Surah Araf, chapter 33, verse number 72, it is the human beings who were
15:44fools,
15:45who said we want to be human beings, you and I. You and I were fools. Now you cannot backtrack.
15:51Once you said you want to appear for the test, once you read the test paper, nobody asked me,
15:56they asked Adam and Eve. No, brother. Quran says every human being was asked and then it is washed
16:02off. This memory is washed off. If the memory is aware of the test, Almighty God says in the Quran,
16:08do you want to be a human being? If you become a human being, you can become superior to an
16:13angel
16:13or can get inferior. If you don't want to become a human being, just pass.
16:19Even for argument's sake, even in that condition. Please let me complete.
16:22You ask the question. All right, go ahead. If you interject, I will answer. Sure, go ahead.
16:26So Almighty God asked the human beings and the Quran says, we human beings were fools. You and I,
16:33both were fools who opted for the test. Now, once you undergo a test, if you follow the commandment
16:41after free will, you'll be superior to an angel. If you disobey Allah, you become inferior to an angel.
16:47We wanted to pass with distinction, you and I. You and I. You told, I don't remember. Of course,
16:54you will not remember. And even I don't remember. But I believe in the Quran. On the day of judgment,
16:59Almighty God says, not a single human being will object to the justice of Allah. That will come to
17:06know on the day of judgment. Only thing we'll say, please give us one more chance. Almighty God will say,
17:12it's too late. Because if he wants to give you a new chance, then I'll have to come back in
17:16the world again.
17:17Again everyone. So those who failed, he can't get only the failures. So the Quran says, no one will ever
17:25object on the justice of Allah. They will request Allah give us one more chance. Almighty God is
17:30too late. Almighty God gives us chances in this world itself. You make a mistake, Allah gives you
17:36a chance to repent. You repent. Allah forgives you. Again you make a mistake. Once you die, it's only one.
17:43So as far as the first question is concerned, why did God create? Because it's a better creation. Any
17:49logical person including you has to agree that a person who has the free will is a better creation
17:55than a person who has no free will. Only a question you don't remember is perfectly right. When you die,
18:00when you're resurrected, that time you and I will meet. Then you will say, I remember. Even I don't
18:06remember now. But I have faith in the Quran that Quran cannot be wrong. Because scientifically,
18:11if you heard my lecture, 80% of the Quran is 100% matching with science. 20% is ambiguous.
18:19Neither
18:19right, neither wrong. So my logic says when 80% is 100% correct and not even 0.1%
18:26of the 20% is wrong.
18:27So my logic says even this 20% would be right. I'm a scientific person. I'm a logical person. So
18:33I believe
18:33in the statement of the Quran that we chose. If we wouldn't have chosen, you could have questioned God.
18:39Why did you make me a human being? Then God would have been at fault. But God says in the
18:45Quran,
18:45He asked, the mountains were afraid. Everything else was afraid. We human beings opted for this.
18:53But do you remember being asked? I don't remember being asked that question.
18:56Brother, if you heard my answer, even I don't remember. But if you remember, where is the test?
19:04Imagine if a teacher teaches you something. Teacher teaches you something. Teacher gives you the
19:10book. The teacher has to take away the book for the test. If the teacher says, okay, take the book
19:14and
19:14answer. Where is the test? Okay, but what? After the examination is over, you can go home and check or
19:22not.
19:22But even before the exam began, God knows. Brother, listen to me. After the examination is over, can you go
19:28and
19:29check home or not in the textbook? Absolutely. But during the examination, can you check? No. So now the
19:34examination is going on, brother. Once it's over, you can check. If you tell teacher, teacher, I want to see
19:41the
19:42textbook. I don't remember. No. During the examination, you cannot refer to the textbook. It will be called cheating.
19:49Correct? So once the examination is over, if you don't remember, you tell God, what is this illogical?
19:56But Quran says not a single human being will object to the justice. Let the test get over. So today,
20:04I being a
20:05scientific person, I being a logical person, based on my knowledge of science, based on my logic, when I read
20:12the other scriptures, and when I read the Quran, I find Quran is the only book, only religious
20:18scripture on the face of the earth, which passes this test. So therefore, I, being a scientific person,
20:24being a logical person, agree, okay, fine. This statement of the Quran also has to be right. I don't
20:29remember. That is the test. If I remember, where is the test? So that answers the first part of the
20:35question. First part, that saying that God was sadist. God is not sadist. For example, I start a medical
20:44college. I want the school students to go to medical. How many students who go to school,
20:50enter the medical college? Just roughly, can you guess? Few, surely less than five percent,
20:57less than maybe one percent. So why did you make a college where only one person can enter? Fine,
21:04it is for selected few. So same way God made heaven, Jannah, Janet Firdos. Everyone cannot go to
21:12Janet Firdos. Why not? Sorry? Why not? Why can't every, why can't everyone go to medical college? Because
21:19it's human capacity. If humans were capable of being able to put everyone to medical college, they would.
21:24That's the way we are made. So same way, everyone cannot become a doctor. Only those who have the
21:30capacity. Same way, everyone cannot go to Janet Firdos, the high levels of paradise. We have to
21:36strive. God has given you capacity. If you don't follow his guidance, you cannot. If you follow his
21:41guidance, to go to Jannah is very easy. If you're intelligent, it's very easy. If you're intelligent,
21:49and if you're truthful to yourself. But if you're not truthful to yourself, even a non-intelligent man
21:55can go to Jannah. Only thing you should be truthful. God has given you different options
22:01how to follow him. Some people think they are smart. I tell them they are extra smart.
22:09If they were smart, they would see it as crystal clear, in black and white, that this is the word
22:15of God. You have to follow it. That's the reason Francis Bacon said, little knowledge of science
22:22makes you an atheist. In-depth knowledge of science makes you a believer in God.
22:27So I wouldn't say God is sadist. I said we were fools who opted to undergo the test.
22:35Not God. God gave you an option. What do you want to be? We chose. So we are responsible,
22:42not God. God is not a sadist. We are fools. That's what the Quran says. On the day of judgment,
22:48you'll come to know, inshallah, you and I both. Inshallah, if I go to Jannah, inshallah, inshallah,
22:55I'll pray to God. I'll thank God. You know, I was a good person. I choose to be a human
22:59being.
22:59If you pass that. If you fail, then we will curse our own self. Hope that answers the question.
23:04The second part? Sorry, what was the second part? That even if I believe how almighty he is,
23:09how knowledgeable he is, why is he so bent on convincing us? Look at the mountains,
23:14look at the electrons, look at the protons. That's right. The second part of the question was
23:18that why does almighty God give references of the mountain that has created this? For him,
23:24it is peanuts. So why is he talking? You know why he's saying? He's saying these peanut things,
23:30mountain, they would shudder. You human being who are superior, why don't you understand?
23:35Quran says in Surah Hashar chapter 59 verse 21, had the Quran been revealed on the mountain,
23:41the mountain, the mountain would have fallen down to utter ruin. But to us human beings,
23:47it makes no difference. He's giving these examples to show that these things which are so powerful,
23:52the mountains, et cetera, which has created, would have submitted the will. Why don't you human
23:58being do? He's trying to give an example that we are fools. He's not trying to praise himself.
24:10God is the greatest. Do you think it will change Allah? No. Whether you say a thousand times,
24:18Allah or a million times, he cannot become greater. He's already the greatest. The reason we say these
24:25things is because it is our human mentality, our human nature, that we follow the people who are
24:32famous. We follow the people who we praise. For example, your mother has a heart attack.
24:39There's unknown person on the street who gives you the treatment. And you heard that the best heart
24:46specialist in the world is Dr. X. Now, will you follow Dr. X's advice or the person on the street
24:53who
24:53you don't know? Dr. X. Why? Because Dr. X is famous. People know him. He's the best in the world.
24:59So, the reason in our salah, in our life, we say Allah is the greatest. Allah is the most wise.
25:06Allah is the most intelligent. Why? If we say that it doesn't benefit Allah, it benefits us.
25:13That if we praise him, we follow him. If we follow, we go to Jannah. To Allah, it makes no
25:17difference.
25:20Therefore, Allah says, will you not then believe? Will you not then understand? That means the Quran is
25:26revealed to the people for understanding. So, he's giving this example not to make himself great. He's
25:33always the greatest. Whether you say a million times Allah is the greatest, it will not make a difference
25:38to Allah. He's telling it to you. Allah says in the Quran, Allah does not require you. You require him.
25:46So, when we praise him, it is human psychology that the person you praise, person you talk great about,
25:53you tend to follow his advice. By following his advice, it will benefit you. It will not benefit him.
25:58He's already the greatest. He's already the merciful. So, these are rules and regulations laid down.
26:03He is our creator. He knows our mindset. You are a student of science, correct?
26:08I'm also a student of science. The moment I come to know, Allah mentioned these scientific facts,
26:14which we came to know today, 50 years back, it increases my faith in Allah.
26:20Allah says in Surah Fusilah chapter 41 verse 53,
26:28Soon we shall show them our signs in the furthest regions of the horizons and into their soul,
26:34until it is clear to them that this is the truth. So, Allah is giving these examples so that it
26:39benefits us. For him, it makes no difference. It is benefiting us so he is giving us a chance
26:48to follow him so that we can go to heaven. Hope that answers the question brother.
26:52I recognize his power and I understand he's amazing and all that that he's done, but am I
26:57expected to be amazed at his achievements at creating this universe? Because for me, for him,
27:02it's like a one-second job. Correct. Right? So, for him, which is a one-second job,
27:07when he tells you not to have alcohol... I want to have alcohol, sure, but am I expected to be
27:12amazed at his creation? No. See, the thing is that he's not there to prove himself better.
27:17If you believe that for him it is peanuts, so will a person lie? No. So, if you say don't
27:22have
27:23alcohol, you will not question him. No. Don't have pork, you will not question him. Yeah, but I'm not
27:28amazed at his creation because for him it's nothing. Compared to us, it's amazing. For him it's nothing.
27:33Right. But compared to us, a person who can create the universe, when he tells me not to have
27:40alcohol, I immediately follow. Sure, I don't mind following him, but do I have to be amazed at his
27:45creation, as is said in the Quran? See, as you ask me the question, should I be amazed at the
27:51creation?
27:51Right. I would say, if I believe human being is a better creation, then yes, I'm amazed, and then I
27:59say, Alhamdulillah, he has made me better than that. So, if I'm amazed, he made the mountains,
28:05he made the stars, he made the sun, ah, but he made Zakir Naik also. He made a human being.
28:12And we are the best of creation. So, he gives these examples so that we realize what benefit
28:18he has given to us, all the favors he has given to us. Talking about the sands, talking about the
28:24protons, talking about the mountains, finally he says, human beings are the best creation.
28:28So, in comparison, we have to agree that our creator has created this human body, the molecules,
28:37the DNA, the complex thing, which can never come by chance. So, in this way, we are amazed at the
28:44creation of the human being. And then, we submit to him. If you are not amazed, only by being amazed,
28:53we submit that he is our creator, he is worth worshipping. No one else can do that. This is so
29:00that we worship him, and we pass the test, and we go to paradise. Hope that answers the question.
29:07If Bill Gates gives me $100, should I be amazed that he has given me that money?
29:11I believe that the question has been answered, and unfortunately, we are very constricted for time.
29:16You are welcome to come back tomorrow, inshallah. As with all of the brothers and sisters,
29:20we have come to the end of tonight's session. So, please, a very big thank you.
29:23I just give you a class. He said, if Bill Gates gives you $100...
29:28Would I be amazed? Will you get amazed? Brother, the question is, why should Bill Gates give you $100?
29:41If you tell me, a Tom, Dick and Harry gives you $100, nothing to be amazed. Bill Gates gave me
29:48$100.
29:51It's something that he gave you. Why did he give you? Why not somebody else?
29:55Why? The question is, why did he give you, is the question.
29:59Okay. If some Tom, Dick and Harry gives you, if a man on the street gave you $100? Bill Gates!
30:07Got it. You got it, na? Got it. I got that.
30:10So, now you're convinced, huh? Yes, absolutely. That is the answer.
30:14So, inshallah, I hope that we'll come closer to Islam.
30:17So, I should not be amazed at the fact that he's giving me the money.
30:20I should be amazed it's him who's giving the money.
30:22Alhamdulillah.
30:24So, it was worth the time extending.
30:27Alhamdulillah.
30:28Thank you very much.
