00:00That's Clayton Kershaw's guy.
00:01That's actually kind of notable considering the fact that while he's not coming in as necessarily the Mets catching coach
00:07in a way that is the case currently with JPR and CBO, which I hope we see more out of
00:11next year.
00:12AJ, though, was a fantastic catcher during his time with the Dodgers and caught Kershaw more than any other catcher.
00:18I mean, over 800 innings, we're talking here, and that span Kershaw had a sub to ERA.
00:23So not only did we see Ellis do a fantastic job, one of the best southpaws that we've ever witnessed
00:29in recent years, but especially doing it in a big market like L.A. is notable.
00:33You're getting another guy here who has worked at the major league level, has had to work with different personalities,
00:39different pitchers.
00:40So when it comes to strategy, I don't think it's always as much as this is how we're going to
00:44play.
00:45This is how we're going to approach the game.
00:47It's also understanding guys in the clubhouse, what they need, what is going to push them, who they work well
00:53with.
00:53All those things matter.
00:55So if AJ Ellis is on the same page as Andy Green, I think this could be a dope hire.
