INDIA bloc and Karnataka Congress leaders organised a massive demonstration at Freedom Park in Bengaluru against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision issue. Protesters staged a theatrical mock arrest on the streets, featuring a demonstrator dressed in handcuffs and wearing a mask of Gyanesh Kumar alongside an actor dressed as a police officer. Demonstrators also paraded the individual in a mock jail setup, dressing the figure in khaki shorts to allege political ties with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Senior Karnataka Congress leaders, including Dinesh Gundu Rao, took part in the street protest. Party representatives stated that the demonstration followed the earlier opposition rally held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on 1 November, which demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and the scrapping of the Special Intensive Revision.

00:00India blocks anti-SIR stir now in Bengaluru in Karnataka.
00:05A mock arrest of Gyanesh Kumar on the streets of Bengaluru, ladies and gentlemen.
00:09Look at that.
00:10Coming up on your screens.
00:12A man looking like Gyanesh Kumar, or wearing of course a Gyanesh Kumar, the CEC mask,
00:18is arrested officially and I say that in quotes.
00:22Gyanesh Kumar is not arrested, ladies and gentlemen, of course, don't get me wrong.
00:25But a protester dressed as a cop on the stage and somebody of course from the group dressed
00:33as Gyanesh Kumar are staging a mock arrest, like mock impeachment, mock arrest is happening.
00:39Look at that.
00:40Let's go across to that visual and let's see what happened here.
01:10All right.
01:11So what I can see, not just arrested, ladies and gentlemen, Gyanesh Kumar arrested and paraded
01:18on the Bengaluru streets by the Congress workers.
01:22That's Dinesh Gundu Rao, I believe, and he's, of course, remember, senior leader of the Congress
01:27Party.
01:28So on the streets, a full-on jail has been set up.
01:32Gyanesh Kumar being paraded on the streets, of course.
01:35When I say this, I say that in quotes, in the sense that it's somebody from the group
01:40who's dressed up, wearing a mask of CEC.
01:43It's a mock arrest.
01:45A full-on jail also has come in.
01:47So one Gyanesh Kumar is outside, arrested and paraded, and one inside the jail.
01:51I don't know if it's creative or it's cringy.
01:54We leave that to the viewer to decide.
01:57But because these are not random protesters or people, there are senior Karnataka Congress
02:02unit leaders who are part of this as well.
02:04And that's Dinesh Gundu Rao, I believe, who's leading that protest.
02:10So there's a full-on cop in the uniform.
02:13And you can see handcuffs on CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
02:18Sagai Raj is joining me from Bengaluru on this.
02:21Sagai, what's happening?
02:22This is turning bizarrely creative.
02:27You notice that the Congress had called for a protest in Karnataka against Gyanesh Kumar.
02:33And this is a continuation of the old shory protest which has happened on a Sunday in Delhi.
02:41And subsequently, leaders, including the Karnataka Chief Minister, KPCC President,
02:46and the entire cabinet from the Karnataka government will take part in this particular protest against Gyanesh Kumar.
02:53What is their plan?
02:55Why do they think that such mock arrests, do you think it's going to catch attention?
03:01This could look like a mock justice as well to me because I want to understand what is the strategy
03:08here.
03:08They want to consistently ensure that on the streets of Bengaluru, Sagai, that this will be a protest that will
03:14be seen.
03:15No, it is the Karnataka Congress government in the state.
03:18And they want to send across a message that wherever the Congress is in power,
03:23they will take this particular protest to the next level.
03:28And that is the reason it is a continuation of the protest which has happened in Delhi.
03:32Now, including the Chief Minister of Karnataka and the cabinet ministers,
03:37and everybody will take part in this particular protest at Freedom Park.
03:43All right, Sagai, please stay on with me.
03:45Let's dip into the video again.
03:46Let's listen to the sounds that are coming in about a mock arrest and paraded on the streets.
03:53CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
04:06Look at that.
04:08Dinesh Gundu Rao telling this imposter CEC to walk along because I think that the CEC who's wearing the mask
04:20of CEC,
04:20the man who's wearing is slightly confused on what to do.
04:23So he's being told by the Congress leader to keep walking.
04:27Poor man is in the handcuffs and is being dragged on the streets by this, of course, a mock cop.
04:34There's a full-on jail that has been crafted.
04:38And clearly this has led to reactions from the Congress party as well.
04:41So they're ensuring, at least in the Congress-governed states, they will not let the SIR issue go.
04:46Let's listen into more reactions of Congress leaders.
04:49India bloc organizing a massive protest against Mr. Gyanesh Kumar and SIR.
04:57This is in continuation of No. 1 Ramlila rally,
05:03where my leader Rahul Gandhiji and all India Congress Committee,
05:08President Malikarjun Kargayji and all India bloc leaders had gathered in Ramlila
05:14to seek the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar and to scrap SIR.
05:20In continuation of this, India bloc has assembled today in the Freedom Park.
05:28So there's a mock impeachment, a mock parliament, so to say.
05:31There's a mock arrest.
05:33The Congress is going all out to try and put all strategies that they possibly can.
05:37And this is to help understand, as you can see Meera Kumar,
05:41who's been a former speaker as well, of course, of the Lok Sabha,
05:44and how that is now being seen.
05:46Congress believes that this is not going to happen in reality,
05:49at least with the government right now.
05:50And therefore, they will do the mock impeachment and they will do the mock arrest.
05:54So you can see what happened in Delhi.
05:57And this was the mock impeachment that was done in the parliament, so to say, of course.
06:02And a mock arrest, CEC being dragged on the streets of Bengaluru.
06:06All right, I notice here, ladies and gentlemen, before I leave,
06:09they've made the CEC wear khaki shorts.
06:13And that is, of course, not coincidental.
06:15That is symbolic of trying to show that he's affiliated to the RSS, to the SANG.
06:22So fully prepared mask, suit with khaki shorts and trousers.
06:28And he's being told to walk on the streets in handcuffs.
06:31Congress says he needs to go.
06:32He's been acting on the orders of the government and the RSS.
