00:00What happened in Texas yesterday is crazy for a variety of reasons,
00:03but maybe the biggest of which is Dan Patrick is out.
00:07Dan Patrick has been a thorn in my side for a very long time.
00:11This is a wonderful, wonderful day that Dan Patrick is gone.
00:16Now, years, years of people saying that Dan Patrick would one day be defeated.
00:23We finally came to that day.
00:25It took a long time for that to happen.
00:27But the lieutenant governor, the governor, the attorney general,
00:31and the U.S. Senate races were swept by the Democrats last night.
00:35What does that mean?
00:37Well, that means that the number one guy,
00:39the guy who controlled the overall legislature in the state of Texas,
00:46because in Texas, they've got a very unique government,
00:49but the lieutenant governor gets to dictate what gets voted on.
00:53Dan Patrick would never allow any voting on the legalization of casinos or sports gambling
01:01or DFS, never would allow it.
01:04He basically said, over my dead body, we're ever going to have casino gambling in Texas,
01:08which again, Texas is surrounded, Louisiana to the east, Oklahoma to the north,
01:14and New Mexico to the west.
01:16They all have it.
01:18They have casinos.
01:19They have sports gambling.
01:20They have all of it.
01:21So if you live in Houston, you're completely SOL because you can't get there.
01:26You can drive an hour and a half to Louisiana, I guess.
01:28So that's one way.
01:29But Dallas goes to Oklahoma, right?
01:31The Windstar Casino is just over the border between Texas and Oklahoma,
01:37just like Council Bluffs, okay?
01:39So now there's a real chance that Texas could legalize sports gambling.
01:45It changes a lot because it's kind of weird bedfellows.
01:48The largest donor to the Republican Party is the owner of this or was the owner of the Sands Convention
01:54Center,
01:55the Adelson family.
01:56Sheldon has passed, but his wife is still heavily involved, has given tons of money to the Republican Party.
02:02She owns the Dallas Mavericks, okay?
02:05She sold.
02:06She bought the Dallas Mavericks from Mark Cuban when he sold.
02:08There was a long thought that there was going to be a Sands-owned or a Sheldon Adelson Company-owned
02:16casino
02:16attached to a new Dallas Mavericks facility, Dallas Mavericks practice facility and arena that would be built in Dallas.
02:25Dan Patrick was the reason why that was not going to happen.
02:28Dan Patrick was the impediment for that to go down because the rumor was if Dallas wasn't able to get
02:37a new casino,
02:38to get casinos passed or get a new building built, that the Dallas Mavericks were going to move to Vegas
02:42and it was going to become the Vegas Mavericks, which works from a team perspective.
02:48So there was a lot of thought that if this didn't go down this way, if Dan Patrick stayed,
02:54that there's a reason why we hadn't seen the Vegas expansion team be awarded officially yet.
03:02They're claiming it's all, it's a fight.
03:04There's three different warring parties.
03:06I was told, and look, this is just a rumor, but I was told that the reason why the NBA
03:12hadn't done,
03:13hadn't done that yet is because the NBA was waiting for this to happen.
03:16They were waiting to see if Dan Patrick was going to lose.
03:19And if Dan Patrick lost, then the Adelsons can get casino gambling onto the docket, get it passed,
03:26and then they can build a facility with a casino attached to it.
03:30And they can completely change the city of Dallas as to what happens and how much money is leaving Dallas
03:35to go to Oklahoma every damn day.
03:38And that is the rainbow.
03:40That is the putt of gold at the end of the rainbow for the Adelson family and for this ownership
03:46group.
03:46Of the Dallas Mavericks.
03:48So there's a lot like this is a whole domino effect to go down.
03:53And as Dom said, take 16 hours, drive out of Texas.
03:57People don't like it.
03:58I'm not saying people like it, but they do it all the time to go gamble.
04:03And that's why wind store is one of the biggest sponsors of the Dallas Cowboys.
04:06You don't think the oil money folks would like to bet in their backyard.
04:11That's why Houston is the number one city in America for poker rooms because they can't have casinos,
04:18but they've got poker rooms because if they're tied to a charity, they're able to operate.
04:23Got to give it back.
04:25Like New Hampshire, when it comes to the casinos that they're building all in New Hampshire,
04:28as long as you're giving, I think it's 40% of your profits to a charity,
04:33you can go hog wild and build casinos.
04:36And they are on the seacoast and also in places like Manchester and Nashua.
04:43New Hampshire is doing the same thing.
04:47So people are like, all right, well, you have it on the books.
04:49We have to do certain things.
04:50You got to give up.
04:51So in Houston, it's like, well, okay, we got to give up how much to charity?
04:54Sure.
04:54Let's go.
04:56So there is so much gambling that goes on in Texas.
05:00I live there.
05:00Don't tell me there's not.
05:01There is so much gambling going on.
05:04It's unbelievable.
05:05It's just, they don't want anyone to know about it, right?
05:07The underground black market in Texas is unbelievable.
05:12Billions, in my opinion, get bet.
05:14Because these oil tycoon guys, they can't help themselves.
05:18I mean, 25K to them is nothing, all right?
05:21They want, you know, they want to go ahead and lay down, you know, massive amounts of
05:25money, getting to huge poker games, getting to big time, big time house games.
05:30Like poker is rampant in Houston.
05:33So now Dan Patrick's out.
05:37His replacement is interesting because the replacement said, her name is Vicki Goodwin,
05:44said she would leave the decision up to the voters.
05:47So she would go ahead and put it on the ballot.
05:50To let Texans decide whether or not they're going to have it.
05:56I don't know if that gets followed through with.
