00:06Hola, bienvenidos a M2. Sí, ya
00:09nos acercamos a esta temporada
00:11maravillosa donde estamos por
00:12todos lados viendo películas
00:14extraordinarias de las que vamos
00:16a estar hablando en la temporada
00:17de premios. De hecho, ha sido un
00:18año muy interesante al respecto
00:19y hoy me atrevo a decir que
00:24John Malkovich se va a llevar el
00:26Oscar a Mejor Actor. Estará
00:28compitiendo fuerte, sí, contra
00:29Tom Cruise por Digger y contra
00:31Matt Damon por La Odisea y hay
00:33cosas interesantísimas ahí también
00:34con La Bola Negra de la cual ya
00:36estaremos hablando. Pero esta
00:37película, Wild Horse Nine, que es
00:41dirigida y escrita por Marty
00:43McDonough y protagonizada justo por
00:45John Malkovich y Sam Rockwell, es
00:47imperdible. Ya la pueden ver este
00:50fin de semana también y tengo que
00:52decirles que el trabajo que hacen
00:55aquí estos dos agentes de la CIA,
00:58uno de ellos pues ya en su
00:59absoluta decadencia, están en Chile
01:01justo antes del golpe militar.
01:05Que nos platiquen los
01:06protagonistas, por favor.
01:07Adelante, John y Sam.
01:08He's fine.
01:12Hello.
01:13Where's Big Mouth?
01:14He's next door.
01:15We hear he's been acting
01:16problematic again.
01:18Problematic?
01:18No, he's acting the same exact pain in the ass
01:20he's always acting.
01:21Yo, hungry?
01:23Remember, he ain't leaving the
01:25fucking island, Lee.
01:26What's that, a threat?
01:27You can take it any way you fucking want.
01:29Well, how about you take it and you
01:31shove it up your flabby little
01:32ass? How about that?
01:37¿Quién fue eso, tu mamá?
01:48¿Dónde se quedó paranoid?
01:50¿No se quedó paranoid?
01:51I know, John.
01:52You just flew over there from here,
01:54basically, ¿verdad?
01:55Yes, ma'am.
01:57Bueno, we're at the same time,
02:00sort of.
02:00You know, I spoke to Martin a few weeks ago
02:03and he told me he loves to push boundaries
02:05of outrage
02:07just enough to make people laugh.
02:09I think it's more than that.
02:10Is that part of the joy of working with him?
02:12It is.
02:13Yes.
02:15Yeah.
02:15How does that work when you're, you know,
02:19creating these characters?
02:21Well, I think he's
02:23a terrific writer.
02:25And, you know,
02:28any scene really
02:30that's well-written,
02:32any good actor or actress
02:35can play it
02:36and it can be played
02:37in a myriad of real
02:39catholicity of ways.
02:43And that great writing
02:45opens up a whole world
02:48for an actor
02:49or actress.
02:50and Martin has an uncanny ability
02:57to say
02:58very politically
03:01incorrect things
03:03in an extremely funny way.
03:07And he can also make,
03:11he's very good
03:12about comedy from pain,
03:14which is the real,
03:17that's the real
03:18birth canal
03:20of comedy
03:21is pain,
03:23I think.
03:24And he,
03:25he's very good
03:27at hitting that
03:28note.
03:31Yes,
03:32and that's really
03:33appreciated
03:34as an audience.
03:35Sam,
03:36one of those things
03:37that I appreciate
03:38as well
03:39is to get this look
03:40at male friendship.
03:41I would say
03:42even if it's even
03:43sort of a love story
03:44between these two
03:45as friends,
03:46would you agree?
03:47Yes,
03:48yes,
03:50yes.
03:51And when,
03:52when we see them
03:54develop
03:55all these
03:56situations,
03:57but at this
03:58extreme point
03:59in their lives,
04:00is there a feeling
04:01that,
04:02you know,
04:03I'm really sad
04:04about this,
04:05but I,
04:05I still have something
04:06that I'm going to
04:07keep forever?
04:08Sure.
04:09I mean,
04:10I think there are
04:12people who are
04:13extremely,
04:13you know,
04:13it's a big,
04:14big ask
04:15to ask somebody
04:17and I would say
04:18especially a friend.
04:20I think it would be
04:21much easier
04:22to ask a stranger,
04:23here's a gun,
04:24blow my head off.
04:25But it's a big ask
04:28to make to a friend
04:29and to a person
04:31you care about
04:33because that's going
04:34to have a ripple effect
04:36for the rest
04:37of their lives.
04:40So that's a big,
04:41it's about as big
04:42a thing as you
04:43could ask,
04:44I think.
04:45Yeah,
04:46I cannot imagine
04:47even being in that
04:48situation.
04:49Me either.
04:50But we go along
04:52with you
04:53in this movie
04:54and one of the
04:56other things is
04:56maybe in your case,
04:58Sam,
04:58you're trying to
04:59sort of keep
05:00control of things
05:01but it's really
05:02out of your hands
05:02and your character
05:03is also very explosive
05:05in his own way.
05:06So he has quite a thing
05:07to do there,
05:08right?
05:09Yeah,
05:09he's a company man.
05:11He's repressing
05:12a lot of emotions
05:13because his wife
05:16has a difficult
05:18relationship
05:18with his wife
05:19and he has
05:21a complicated
05:22relationship
05:23with what would
05:24appear to be
05:25his best friend
05:26and because
05:30they're both
05:31pretty handicapped
05:32and emotionally
05:34in a lot of ways
05:35and I think
05:36they're stuck together
05:38and they've grown
05:39to love each other
05:40even though they
05:41don't necessarily
05:41know it
05:42and
05:45yeah,
05:46my character
05:46is repressing
05:47a lot of
05:48anger
05:49and it finally
05:51kind of comes out
05:53because people
05:54keep pushing him
05:55and pushing him
05:56and pushing him
05:57including John's
05:58character
05:58and then it
05:59finally
06:00unfolds.
06:02Yeah,
06:03it certainly does.
06:04Those horses
06:05are so gorgeous
06:06and they're such
06:06a stark contrast
06:08to what we do
06:09as humanity.
06:12Would you
06:13elaborate on
06:14what you felt
06:14when you were
06:15working with them,
06:16John?
06:18Well,
06:19you know,
06:19it's funny.
06:20I've worked
06:21with the horses
06:22a number of times.
06:23I mean,
06:23I wouldn't trust
06:24any horse
06:24as far as
06:25I can throw it
06:27because they're nuts.
06:28so,
06:29you know,
06:30you can have
06:30a horse
06:31or you can
06:32sit on it
06:32all day
06:33firing a gun
06:34right next
06:35to its ear.
06:36It's like
06:37they're bored
06:38out of its skull
06:39and doesn't matter
06:40at all
06:40and all of a sudden
06:42it sees
06:43a small
06:45plastic bag
06:47drifting
06:47across a landscape
06:49and it goes
06:50completely insane
06:51and runs off
06:52in the opposite
06:53direction
06:54at 200
06:56miles a minute.
06:58That's like
06:58my dog.
06:59Yeah,
06:59you just never
07:00know what
07:01they're gonna do
07:02but of course
07:04in terms of
07:05this film
07:06they,
07:08I think,
07:10represent
07:11a kind of
07:12freedom
07:13and natural
07:14state
07:16and a natural
07:18state
07:18in the kind
07:20of way
07:20that Rousseau
07:21assumed
07:22that nature
07:23is good.
07:24I'm not sure
07:25that nature
07:26is good at all.
07:27Nature is nature.
07:28It doesn't have
07:29to be good.
07:31It's in charge
07:32of everything
07:34and there are
07:36predators
07:37and victims
07:39so I don't know
07:41how good nature
07:43is but
07:43in this
07:46the horses
07:47also represent
07:49I think
07:50the part
07:50it's the part
07:51of the film
07:52that's kind of
07:52like a western
07:53in a way
07:55they represent
07:56that you can
07:57just ride
07:58as far
07:59as your horse
08:00will take you
08:01and
08:04ride with
08:05the wind
08:06so
08:08and
08:09East Rhin
08:10is spectacular
08:11for that
08:12because there are
08:13wild horses
08:13everywhere
08:14there are wild cows
08:15wild dogs
08:16everything there
08:18and they just
08:20they just go around
08:21on their own
08:23you know
08:24they're on every road
08:26every street
08:27they're all around
08:30Maestros
08:31the two
08:31we'll talk a lot
08:32more about them
08:33don't forget
08:34we've also
08:35had a little bit
08:36of the interview
08:37with Martin
08:38McDonough
08:38when he started
08:39winning festivals
08:40with this film
08:41but now
08:42we have it in
08:43Mexican cinema
08:44I think
08:45it's time
08:46to listen
08:47to all the rest
08:47Martin
08:48McDonough
08:49great director
08:50great writer
08:51winner
08:51of the Oscar
08:52adelante
09:22what's your hope
09:24that
09:24that these characters
09:26do for us
09:28emotionally
09:28first as a writer
09:29and then as a director
09:31oh gosh
09:32um
09:33I'm not sure
09:35I
09:36I
09:36I
09:37I think when you're
09:38creating a character
09:39or working in a movie
09:40you just want to
09:41capture
09:42some kind of humanity
09:44in
09:45in your characters
09:46even if they're
09:47as dark
09:49and as
09:50troubled
09:51and as
09:52uh
09:55wrongheaded
09:56as
09:56as these characters
09:57are
09:58to show
10:00that we're all human
10:01and we could all
10:02go to that place
10:03maybe
10:04if
10:04if
10:04if
10:05we chose
10:05the wrong path
10:07I think that's
10:07kind of interesting
10:08maybe to
10:09to
10:09to
10:10to take away
10:12but I also think
10:13um
10:14you know
10:15that aspect of history
10:17of the CIA's
10:19involvement
10:19in
10:20in the
10:21the
10:22Chilean
10:22military coup
10:24is
10:25something
10:25it's something that
10:26you know
10:26I think maybe young people
10:27might not know
10:28too much about
10:29and so that's one thing
10:31to
10:31for
10:31for them to maybe
10:32take away
10:33is just to
10:34you know
10:35go away and learn
10:36a little bit
10:36more about that
10:38and to see
10:38the connections
10:39between
10:41uh
10:42the world today
10:42and
10:43the fact that we're
10:44sort of
10:45not
10:45this isn't new
10:46that we're
10:47repeating
10:48a lot of the
10:49same
10:50tragic moments
10:51um
10:52for a lot of
10:52the same reasons
10:53no but
10:54but it is amazing
10:55because there's
10:56this whole context
10:57but there's a couple
10:58of friends in the
10:59middle of
10:59of it all
11:00and two men
11:01that cannot
11:02actually express
11:03their love
11:03because I believe
11:04they have love
11:05for each other
11:05and you've
11:07touched on that
11:07subject
11:08in different
11:08in different films
11:09and plays
11:10what is it
11:11about that
11:12um
11:14well I
11:15I do see the love
11:17you know
11:17I I know
11:18it's probably
11:18quite male
11:19and sort of
11:20seemingly kept down
11:21but I
11:21I definitely
11:22see that
11:23love for each other
11:25despite their
11:26fighting
11:27and their
11:27comedy
11:28and all of that
11:29and I definitely
11:30think by the end
11:31you see the
11:33the the love
11:35that they have
11:35for each other
11:36um
11:37I I just think
11:38it's it's
11:38interesting
11:39to
11:40explore
11:41or even in
11:42you know
11:42male
11:43I think
11:43female characters
11:45and women
11:46in the world
11:47are allowed
11:48or it's okay
11:49to to explore
11:50those things
11:51but I think
11:52with men
11:52it's sort of
11:53frowned upon
11:54you know
11:55you're supposed
11:55to be more
11:56macho
11:56or hide
11:57your feelings
11:57and so
11:58so I
11:59I
12:01think
12:01there's something
12:03new
12:04or interesting
12:05to see
12:05así que
12:06seguimos
12:07seguimos la pista
