00:00Let's check in now with Rochelle for more in tonight's weather forecast.
00:04Thank you, Disha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. While some of us got hot and sunny weather,
00:10others got wet and gloomy conditions. Here's what happened today. An isolated strong thunderstorm
00:15developed over parts of Puerto Spain and parts of Trinidad's northwestern peninsula,
00:20producing locally heavy rainfall with street flooding occurring in some areas.
00:25Elsewhere got sunny to partly cloudy skies with brief showers affecting northeastern Tobago.
00:31Now, subtle conditions returned by sunset. But what can we expect tonight? The Met offers
00:37clear and cool conditions despite an odd brief shower with temperatures dropping to 25 or 26 degrees
00:44in Trinidad and Tobago. And on Friday, we will get a mix of everything, sun, haze and rain.
00:51Let's get into it. Pre-damping on the hot and sunny conditions are expected over most areas with a
00:58few showers during the afternoon. Now, there is a medium chance of a heavy shower that can become
01:03thundery, favouring western and near hilly areas of Trinidad once again. Now, temperatures will reach
01:10a high of 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 over in Tobago. And just like that, the weekend is around
01:17the corner. So, how you spend it will all depend on what I'm about to tell you. Both days will
01:23be
01:24mostly sunny with some dust concentration in the mix. But there will be one or two showers
01:29passing through in a few areas. Now, there is a low chance of a thunderstorm activity during the
01:35afternoon. So, guys, you have the details, so move accordingly. Moving on to our sun times now. In Trinidad,
01:41sunrises at 5.58 and 5.55 over in Tobago and sunset at 5.40 in Trinidad and 5.36
01:48in Tobago. And as I
01:51like to see, the F in Fridays stands for find me at the beach. So, if you'll be there, sea
01:57conditions
01:57will be slight with waves 1 meter to 1.4 meters in open waters and near calm in sheltered areas.
02:15And just like every Thursday, I have to put you to the test. True or false? Hurricanes, cyclones,
02:22typhoons are all different names for this same weather phenomenon. Is it true or is it false?
02:27And well, the answer is true. They are all tropical cyclones. The name changes depending
02:33on where the storm forms. So, hurricanes in the Atlantic, Eastern Pacific, typhoons in the
02:39Western Pacific and cyclones in the Indian Ocean. I find that was way too easy. So, here's another.
02:47True or false? Lightning only ever travels from the sky down to the ground. Is that true or is that
02:54false?
02:55And well, the answer is balls. Lightning can absolutely strike upwards. While most lightning
03:02moves from the clouds down to the ground, upward moving lightning frequently occurs. It typically
03:07triggers from very tall structures like radio towers, skyscrapers or wind turbines where the
03:14intense electric field causes a spark to shoot upward into the storm cloud. Now, let me know
03:20if you got any right. And well, that's all for weather tonight. You know what's next.
