00:00European leaders have firmly rejected any attempt by the United States and Russia to reshape the continent's security architecture without
00:09their involvement.
00:10It follows President Donald Trump's suggestion that Washington could be nearing a sweeping agreement with Moscow,
00:17something he calls, quote, a very big deal involving not only Ukraine but all of Europe.
00:24The move has raised fresh concerns that the U.S. administration could be moving towards a security arrangement that accommodates
00:32Russian President Vladimir Putin's long-standing demands at the expense of European interests.
00:38We cannot say how and when Ukraine and Russia will strike a peace deal.
00:43We can say what it needs to be put into effect.
00:48Any agreement in order to be implemented will require the European Union to be part of it.
00:54The diplomatic disagreement comes as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to bring an end to the war in Ukraine,
01:02with U.S. representatives preparing for renewed negotiations between Kiev and Moscow in Abu Dhabi next week.
01:11Bomb alerts continue to affect flights across Europe on Friday, with aircraft in Portugal, France and Italy affected.
01:18A Ryanair flight from Rome to Lisbon landed safely in the Portuguese capital shortly on Friday after a warning of
01:25a possible explosive device on board.
01:27Portuguese media reported that police had received a call about the threat.
01:31There was no confirmation of explosive being found on board.
01:35Meanwhile, France reported four more alerts involving planes flying over French territory.
01:40All the aircraft landed safely, with security checks subsequently carried out in all instances.
01:46A Viz air flight from Prague to Rome was also diverted to Venice after another bomb alert.
01:52The incidents follow bomb scares affecting at least 25 flights across Europe on Thursday.
01:58EU officials said it was too early to know whether the cases were linked,
02:02but the Irish government said they and additional hoax threats in Dublin were likely part of a coordinated campaign of
02:09disruption.
02:14Belgium's King Philippe has rejected Prime Minister Barth de Wever's resignation and asked him to resume budget talks immediately.
02:22De Wever offered to step down on Monday after coalition partners failed to agree on a 2027 spending plan.
02:29After meeting leaders of the five governing parties, the king said they had committed to making concessions to reach an
02:35agreement.
02:37De Wever is seeking 10 billion euros by 2029 to close the budget gap, but parties remain divided over how
02:43to find the money.
02:46Proposals include spending cuts and a VAT increase, opposed by the francophone liberal reformist movement.
02:52De Wever must report back to the king on Monday, November the 16th.
03:00The European Public Prosecutor's Office, the EU body that investigates fraud involving European funds,
03:06has opened a probe into possible fraud over renovation of Spain's Madrid-sevié high-speed rail line.
03:12The EPPO launched the investigation on its own initiative.
03:16It concerns EU money for upgrades to safety, signaling and communication systems.
03:22Spanish authorities have begun gathering evidence.
03:24The EU provided 111 million euros for the project in 2024.
03:30The probe follows two deadly crashes on the line.
03:3346 people died in January, while 69 were killed in the October 28 crash near Urda.
03:40Meanwhile, applications for compensation have opened for those affected by the latest crash.
03:46Families of victims and injured passengers can apply until the 5th of February, 2027.
03:51More than 100 people were estimated to have been injured.
03:55The aid includes grants for immediate needs and advance payments of future compensation.

04:22Authorities in the Philippines, where Markle Sr., previously lived, reported finding around 7,500 photographs and one video on devices
04:30linked to the inquiry.
