00:00Israelis are divided over President Herzog's decision to pick Gadi Eisenkot to lead the
00:06country's next government.
00:07Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lost his parliamentary majority in last month's election.
00:14But one thing everyone can agree on is that forming a new government won't be easy.
00:20What are the challenges you need to overcome?
00:22Wow, there are many.
00:23First of all, security.
00:25Second of all, to protect democracy.
00:27Third of all, to reverse the judicial revolution that Bibi tried to do.
00:33And then try to work with the one Arab party that will join the government hopefully.
00:39I have no problem with the Arabs being integrated into the government.
00:43Eisenkot didn't win a majority either.
00:46Arab-led parties meanwhile made historic gains, leaving them as potential but politically complicated
00:53kingmakers.
00:54I don't know what's going to be but I want to give a blessing that there should be a
00:59new understanding, a new mindset in Israel no matter what the government is, no matter
01:05what it is.
01:05That we should be able to look at one another, be able to respect one another and that should
01:09be instead of focusing on a new government, it should be a new mentality, be able to look
01:14at every single person in Israel and be able to come to a new place of respect, of understanding
01:20and that's the biggest thing that I hope will come with no matter what the political situation
01:24is.
01:26Eisenkot has six weeks to form a new coalition.
01:29It's a challenging task and a deeply divided country reeling from the 2023 Hamas attacks and
01:38three years of war in Gaza and beyond.
01:42Eisenkot has six weeks to come on with a new coalition.
