00:01At least four people were killed and 88 were injured when two trains collided on Sunday
00:07south of the Egyptian capital Cairo. Egypt's railway authority said a train traveling from
00:13Giza to Fayyum crashed into the rear of another service heading south from Cairo to the city of
00:19Aswan. One of the trains derailed, it said, but did not specify which. The health ministry said
00:26the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Emergency teams and cranes were
00:32dispatched to the scene to clear the wreckage and restore train services to their normal schedule
00:37as soon as possible. Egypt's 110 million people depend heavily on rail transport, but the network,
00:44one of the largest in Africa, has suffered repeated deadly accidents. Over the past decade, Egypt has
00:51poured billions of dollars into updating its transport infrastructure, including new highways
00:56and high-speed rail lines, but has yet to overhaul much of its aging rail network.
