00:00My name is Reverend Tim Gon, and I think I've been here now for four months, and both Karen and
00:07I have had a lovely welcome from all of you, so thank you for that.
00:13Let's just take a moment of quiet, where we just reflect on what's gone before, and pray for what will
00:24come.
00:31At the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918, the guns fell silent on the Western
00:40Front to bring an end to the First World War.
00:44Our nation and Commonwealth have recalled that moment, through our armistice and remembrance events, down through the decades.
00:55Decades which men and women of our armed services have continued to pay the ultimate sacrifice.
01:02And so we stand here today, to remember lives sacrificed in the service of our country, and those traumatised and
01:14injured in conflict.
01:17May we have such a devotion to justice and freedom, that the heroism of all who fought and still fight,
01:29may continue to be remembered in a nation of service and in a world of peace.
01:39This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope, the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies
01:50never come to an end, they are new every morning.
01:56We meet in the presence of God, we rededicate ourselves in your service, O God, that your will may be
02:06done on earth as it is in heaven, and that your kingdom of peace and joy may fill the hearts
02:14of people everywhere.
02:17Let us pray.
02:29Let us pray for all who suffer, as a result of conflict, and ask that God may give us peace.
02:40For the servicemen and women who have died in the violence of war, each one remembered and known to God.
02:50May God give peace.
02:55For those who love them in death as in life, offering the distress of our grief, and the sadness of
03:04our loss.
03:07May God give peace.
03:10God give peace.
03:12For all members of the armed forces who are in danger this day, remembering family, friends,
03:22and all who pray for their safe return, may God give peace.
03:29May God give peace.
03:31For civilian women, children, and men, whose lives are disfigured by war or terror, calling to mind in penitence the
03:44anger and hatred of humanity.
03:50May God give peace.
03:53May God give peace.
03:55May God give peace.
03:56For peacemakers and peacekeepers who seek to keep this world secure and free.
04:04May God give peace.
04:07May God give peace.
04:09For all who bear the burden and privilege of leadership, political, military, and religious, asking for gifts of wisdom, and
04:23resolve in the search for reconciliation and peace.
04:28May God give peace.
04:32May God give peace.
04:34May God give peace.
04:35May God give peace.
04:36O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish and those names we will
04:46never know.
04:47Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world.
04:55And grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm.
05:02As we honour the past, may we put our faith in your future.
05:09For you are the source of life and hope, now and forever.
05:17Amen.
05:18Amen.
05:18Amen.
05:18Amen.
05:18Amen.
