Mitt Romney has secured the Republican nomination after winning the Texas primary.
Although the race to take on Barack Obama for the presidency had been all but over, Romney has now officially clinched the 1,144 delegates required.
He has been the presumptive nominee for several weeks as his rivals one by one withdrew or suspended campaigning.
