Egypt’s top prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, has been given a military funeral, with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi leading proceedings.

Barakat was killed after a car bomb targeted his motorcade. He had been in charge of overseeing the prosecution of thousands of Islamists, including ousted former president, Mohammed Mursi.

El-Sisi has pledged to toughen laws against militants and extremists.
