00:00 He was playing with the sand and all of a sudden he came running over to me and said
00:05 he had cut his finger.
00:07 So I went to, obviously I was alarmed when he said he had cut his finger, so I wondered
00:11 what on, he said a needle.
00:13 So I automatically went over to the area where he was playing and there was needles on the
00:18 floor which he had caught his finger on which was under sand.
00:22 Extremely angry, you know, our children should be able to play in an environment where they
00:27 don't have to come across things like that and we should be able to bring our children
00:31 out into safe environments.
00:34 But yesterday just didn't, you know, it's made me feel very uneasy about bringing my
00:38 children down here again to play.
00:40 I think the council really need to step up a little bit and sort the situation out.
00:45 I had to take him to the chemist, Boots, who, lovely ladies in there, helped me wash my
00:49 son's hand and advised me to take him to hospital.
00:52 I took him to A&E and they were extremely shocked with what I was telling them and couldn't
00:57 believe what he had come across at the beach.
01:00 He's got autism so it was completely traumatised him, what he had to go through yesterday and
01:06 we were there for six hours.
01:08 So you know, he's now got to have hepatitis injections, antibiotics for three days, blood
01:15 tests which we're awaiting results for and, you know, a seven year old child shouldn't
01:19 have to go through that after a day at the beach with their family.
