There is no major impact caused by the Israel-Hamas war on the country's economy, a Cabinet official said.

National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said there is "hardly any impact" as there is no major disruption in the supply chain due to the ongoing hostilities between Israel forces and Hamas militants. (Video Courtesy of RTVM)

00:00 On our economy, are there certain ripples that we should be bracing for?
00:07 Yes, there was a meeting yesterday and we did look at the, discuss about the impact on the economy
00:17 but so far there's hardly any impact because there has been no major disruptions in the supply chain.
00:26 Oil has increased a bit but we don't know if that's just an initial reaction but the impact is so negligible.
00:35 I guess the question is whether, will it spread, will the conflict spread and that's another matter
00:41 because then if it gets into the supply chain affecting the global movements of trade
00:50 then the effects can be even more substantial but as of this date, you don't see any major impact on the economy.
01:00 But should it be the protracted war that everyone's worrying about?
01:06 Will there be or will there be an impact on the economy?
01:09 We had very little exposure with both Israel and Palestine in all dimensions
01:18 whether it's labour employment or trade or investment or, no.
01:24 Unless that is spilled into the other countries and it affects the supply of oil,
01:32 then there will be an impact on us but as of now, we are not seeing that.
