00:15 south after a warning by Israeli occupation forces.
00:23 In Ecuador, presidential candidates Luisa Gonzalez and Anel Novoa concluded their electorate
00:29 campaigns.
00:33 In Morocco, people rejected the involvement of international financial institutions in
00:38 global poverty and climate change during the annual meetings of the International Monetary
00:42 Fund and the World Bank.
00:46 Hello, welcome to From the South.
00:50 I'm Ana Rosabal from the Television Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:54 We'll begin with the news.
01:07 Thousands of residents of Gaza City are currently being evacuated to the south after a warning
01:12 by the Israeli occupation forces.
01:15 The warning comes before an attack by Israeli forces to be carried out this Friday in the
01:21 northern area of the territory, where more than one million people live.
01:26 Let us recall that in the last 24 hours, the percentage of displaced citizens rose to 25%,
01:33 resulting in a first-of-a-kind number of 423,378 displaced people.
01:40 Given this, the United Nations called on the United Nations community to declare that any
01:47 similar measures must be abolished immediately in order to avoid devastating humanitarian
01:52 consequences.
01:57 With the development of the Israel-Palestinian conflict and the intensification of attacks
02:02 in the area, civilians living in the Gaza Strip are on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe.
02:09 Health Minister Amali al-Khalil asserted on Thursday that the number of wounded is outstripping
02:14 the capacity of hospitals in the area.
02:16 In addition to a severe shortage of drugs, super-radians, room supplies and blood bags,
02:24 the stab is also in danger as since the escalation of the conflict, there have been attacks on
02:29 ambulances which have left several dead.
02:33 Following the closure of the border crossing by Israel, Palestinians were left with no
02:38 way out of the Gaza Strip.
02:40 In addition, the only crossing into Egypt or Hafez was closed on Tuesday after the Israeli
02:46 carried out a strike.
02:48 Moreover, Israeli defence forces are preparing to carry out an exempted ground mission in
02:53 the Gaza Strip, creating a worrying situation for civilians.
03:03 In the meantime, France bans demonstrators in support of the Palestinian people.
03:08 In a sense, the authorities spurred with tear gas grenades in rally in solidarity with the
03:14 Palestinian people.
03:15 The measure was ordered by the French Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, alleging
03:21 the need to maintain public order.
03:28 In Palestine, a new dead of intense bombardment by the Israeli army against U-Bahn centres
03:34 in the Gaza Strip, and more than 50 people were killed in the last hours, according to
03:39 official sources.
03:42 The Palestinian Minister of Public Health reported on Thursday that a total of 51 people
03:47 were killed or downed by Israeli defence forces' bombs.
03:51 According to the official body, the Israeli forces concentrated their attacks on the residential
03:57 neighbourhoods of Sabra al-Saitoun, al-Nafak and Tel Awa, as well as others in the Palestinian
04:05 enclave.
04:06 Since Saturday, the death toll in the Gaza Strip after the Israeli bombardment has exceeded
04:12 1,100 people.
04:13 On the other hand, the United Nations Refugee Agency confirmed that at least 12 of its staff
04:22 were killed, including five teachers, a gynaecologist, an engineer, a psychological counsellor and
04:29 three support staff.
04:31 It is estimated that 206,000 people have been displaced, so far about 10% of the population.
04:44 From the United Nations, the Secretary-General's spokesperson, Estefan Dujarric, declared that
04:50 the number of displaced persons in the Gaza Strip has already increased by 30% in the
04:55 last 24 hours.
04:56 The Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports that mass displacements across
05:04 the Gaza Strip continues in very, very large numbers.
05:08 The cumulative number of displaced people increased by 30% just over the last 24 hours,
05:14 now totaling more than 338,000, of whom over two-thirds are taking shelter in schools run
05:21 by UNRWA.
05:23 The UN Relief and Works Agency says that nearly 218,000 internally displaced people are sheltering
05:30 in 92 of their schools in all areas of the Gaza Strip.
05:35 In Gaza, more than 2,500 units have been destroyed or severely damaged and rendered uninhabitable,
05:42 while nearly 23,000 others have sustained moderate to minor damage.
05:48 At least 88 educational facilities have been struck, including 18 UNRWA schools, two of
05:54 which were being used as emergency shelters for displaced people, as well as 70 Palestinian
06:00 Authority schools.
06:01 This means that for the sixth consecutive day, more than 600,000 children have had no
06:07 access to education in a safe place in Gaza.
06:13 The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General also warns of what could happen to the Gaza
06:19 people of Gaza now that they have no electricity, water or food.
06:24 As a Gaza's sole power plant has run out of fuel and was forced to stop functioning, triggering
06:30 an immediate blackout, which continues throughout the Strip.
06:34 This follows Israel's halt of its electricity and fuel supplies to Gaza on October 8th.
06:39 A water crisis is looming in UNRWA emergency shelters and across the Gaza Strip due to
06:44 damaged infrastructure, lack of electricity needed to operate pumps and desalination plants,
06:50 as well as limited supply of water in local markets.
06:53 Water supplies cannot be replenished due to the total blockade of the Strip by Israeli
06:58 authorities.
07:00 Fuel cannot be brought in and Israeli water suppliers are no longer delivering water to
07:05 Gaza.
07:06 As Temu Harik pointed out, the humanitarian agencies are unable to carry out their humanitarian
07:14 aid work and announce the death of two people who were carrying out this work.
07:24 Agencies continue to face major constraints in providing humanitarian assistance.
07:29 The insecurity is preventing safe access to impacted areas and warehouses.
07:33 Despite the challenging conditions, humanitarian workers have provided some assistance, including
07:39 the distribution of fresh bread to 137,000 people, the delivery of 70,000 liters of fuel
07:46 to water and sanitation facilities, and the activation of psychosocial helplines.
07:52 Yesterday, the Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, allocated
07:56 $9 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund to urgently respond to relief efforts.
08:03 UNRWA adds that 12 of its personnel have now been killed since October 7.
08:10 In Iraq, dozens of thousands of protesters stood to bag a strip to batter Palestinian
08:15 people.
08:16 Demonstrators waved Iranian flags as they were threatening motors and carrying banners
08:22 "No Occupation, Down with Israel."
08:24 According to local media, supporters trampled Israeli flags to express their rejection to
08:29 the actions taken by the occupying forces.
08:32 Similar rallies occurred once in different nations of the region.
08:46 In Venezuela, social organizations held a rally in support of the Palestinian people
08:51 to condemn the Israeli siege.
08:53 In Caracas City, more than 60 pro-Palestinian organizations expressed their solidarity towards
08:59 the Palestinian people.
09:01 In the census denounced before the United Nations organizations the crimes against humanity
09:07 committed by the Israeli occupying forces.
09:10 The coordinator for the Platform of Solidarity with Palestine, a South American country in
09:15 the Andorra, pointed out that it is necessary to highlight by all means how Palestine has
09:20 been at the forefront of the defense of its territory.
09:29 We are today as a people, as a popular organization, raising our voice in solidarity with Palestine
09:35 and giving a round of applause to the Palestinian resistance.
09:38 Palestine has put itself at the forefront of the defense of its territory and also on
09:43 the offensive to achieve this objective.
09:46 This is fundamental for us.
09:48 We have to highlight through any media networks the courage and heroism of the people that
09:53 with their fingernails are attacking precisely an entity, a colonizing regime such as the
09:58 Israeli regime that keeps the Palestinian people in the parley.
10:02 And in front of that Goliath, the David, now upside down that it's Palestine, it has risen
10:08 up and is giving lessons to the world of sovereignty.
10:14 Let's take a short break.

10:33 Welcome back.
11:01 In Ecuador, presidential candidates Luisa Gonzalez and Daniel Novoa concluded their
11:06 electoral campaigns.
11:09 The closing acts took place in the province of Santa Elena and Guayaquil.
11:14 Wearing a national soccer team, a jersey and a bulletproof vest, the candidate of the Syrian
11:20 Revolution, Er-si, who won the first round of these extraordinary elections, concluded
11:25 the promotion stage with a multitenuous act in the coastal city of Guayaquil.
11:30 During her speech, she denounced the increasing violence and the 280,000 Ecuadorians who migrated
11:38 as a result of the crisis in the Indian country.
11:48 Venezuela celebrated on Thursday the resolution adopted at the United Nations Human Rights
11:52 Council, HRC, against the imposition of unilateral cohesive measures.
11:58 The permanent representative of the South American country to the multilateral organization
12:03 in Geneva, Edger Constance, valued these results and its executive accounts as a new victory
12:08 for international law.
12:10 The resolution in question indicates that no state may resort to or encourage the use
12:16 of any type of measure to coerce another state in order to obtain it from its subordination
12:22 of the exercise of its sovereign rights or to obtain it from an advantage of any kind.
12:28 In the 39th session of the Human Rights Committee, Foreign Minister Ivan Gil denounced that Venezuela
12:34 was targeted by the perverse strategy of regime change promoted by the United States and international
12:40 ultra-rights.
12:41 During the sixth meeting of the International Forum of the Russian Energy Week, Venezuelan
12:52 Vice President, Desire Rodriguez, assured that Western sanctions against Venezuela remain
12:57 intact.
12:58 Desire Rodriguez stated that the unilateral cohesive measures imposed by the United States
13:03 and the European Union caused serious damage to the Venezuelan economy.
13:08 The head official also indicated that the impact of the sanctions against the country
13:12 has had a consequence of loss of thousands of dollars in oil production.
13:17 Rodriguez pointed out that following the people's own efforts, the government has undergone
13:23 an economic recovery process, highlighting that by 2024, Venezuela is projected to be
13:29 one of the first countries in South America to grow.
13:40 The 930 unilateral cohesive measures called "illegal and illegitimate sanctions" are still
13:47 intact against Venezuela.
13:49 It is a system of sanctions, extortion, blackmail, which precisely sought to asphyxiate the Venezuelan
13:56 economy to pressure and push the Venezuelan people to change their political course.
14:02 That is the first thing.
14:04 There are 903 sanctions against Venezuela.
14:07 They are absolutely in force.
14:11 Now the impact that this has had on the Venezuelan economy is brutal.
14:16 In five years, Venezuela has lost the production of 3,995 million barrels, a barbaric figure
14:23 that represents $232 billion.
14:29 The executive vice president of Venezuela, Desis Rodriguez, stressed that the economic
14:35 block of these bricks is contributing to the formation of a new world.
14:43 The bricks today have 43 of the world's energy reserves, but it has also become a space for
14:49 meeting and dialogue between the world's main producers and consumers.
14:53 That it is, it accounts for 29 of the world's gross domestic product, 46% of the world's
15:00 population, 45% of the exports of goods, and 46% of the oil production.
15:06 It's a new world where Russia, well, it's in that core generator, the redolorization,
15:12 the creation of a new world.
15:16 In the United States, Democrat Senator Bob Menendez was indicted for certain bribes on
15:21 behalf of a foreign government and acting as an undercover agent.
15:26 New indictments handed down by the federal jury in Manhattan show that Menendez provided
15:32 insensitive U.S. government information and took other actions that secretly aided the
15:37 government of Egypt.
15:39 These indictments allege that Bob Menendez leveraged his political influence for illicit
15:44 financial gains worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
15:48 The new indictment comes just weeks after the Democrat's wife was accused of accepting
15:53 bribes in cash, gold bullion, and a luxury car from the three New York ship businessmen
15:58 who wanted the senator to help and influence them in foreign affairs.

16:49 Morrocans rejected the involvement of international financial institutions in global poverty and
16:55 climate change during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the
16:59 World Bank in Marrakech.
17:02 More than 70 organizations and social movements gathered to protest against the agenda of
17:07 the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
17:11 The participants warned the organizations that they cannot be condescending and support
17:16 economic policies that imply a step backwards in environmental matters.
17:21 The demonstrations started in the center of Bab Doukhal square in the old part of Marrakech
17:27 and circulated under the tent of police deployment.
17:36 In Morocco, the International Monetary Fund, IMF, managing director Kistalina Georgieva,
17:42 told a press conference that what is happening in Gaza is regrettable and said that the IMF
17:48 is closely monitoring the evolution of the situation and how it affects the oil markets.
17:55 What is our reaction to that?
17:58 It's heartbreaking to see innocent civilians dying.
18:10 A attack from one place on another causing also reciprocity in response.
18:23 Who pays the price?
18:26 It is the innocent who pay the price.
18:32 We are very closely monitoring how the situation evolves, how it is affecting especially oil
18:44 markets.
18:46 It is too early to say.
18:49 We have seen some up and down of oil prices.
18:55 We have seen some reaction on markets.
19:02 And as I said, we will be closely monitoring this very clearly.
19:07 This is a new cloud on not the sunniest horizon for the world economy.
19:17 New cloud darkening this horizon, who of course not need it.
19:29 Pray for peace.
19:32 Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived on Thursday in Kyrgyzstan for a two-day official
19:38 visit.
19:39 This is the first international trip so far in 2023.
19:44 The Russian head of state's plane landed at Manus airport in the city of Izhkek, Riyadh,
19:49 Novosibirsk, reports.
19:51 His Kyrgyz counterpart, Sadee Sabara, foresaw Putin at the hall in front of the presidential
19:57 residence Al-Arsha.
19:59 During his visit, Putin laid a wreath of the Al-Tabayyid Homes of the Fathers memorial
20:04 complex located 25 km from the capital and built in memory of those who died during the
20:11 tragedy banks of 1916.
20:14 In addition, the president held talks with the state residents during which they discussed
20:19 key issues for the development of bilateral relations in the political, economic, commercial,
20:25 military, technical, cultural, humanitarian fields and others.
20:34 First of all, I would like to note that your visit has a great symbolic meaning since it
20:39 coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Khan Air Base and the 30th anniversary of
20:47 the Kyrgyz-Russian-Slavic University.
20:50 These significant events in our bilateral relations are symbols of our friendship.
20:57 We highly value the Kyrgyz-Russian strategic partnership and allied relations.
21:06 Russia is one of the leading trade and economic partners of Kyrgyzstan.
21:10 Last year, the trade turnover increased by 37% to a record nearly 3.5 billion US dollars,
21:17 and in the first half of this year it added another 17.9%.
21:23 Russia is the largest investor in the Kyrgyz economy.
21:26 About 36% of all accumulated foreign direct investment in Kyrgyzstan is made up of Russian
21:32 investments.
21:33 There are 800 enterprises with Russian participation operating in the republic.
21:41 The government of TPRBJS, United Nations Organization, reports considering that it lacks a thorough
21:47 investigation regarding the situation in the country.
21:51 Ethiopian authorities rejected the same embassy's report of the International Commission of
21:56 Human Rights experts on the economy of the country, which forces allegations compiled
22:02 from unreliable sources.
22:04 In this regard, the foreign minister recalled that the agreement for a last impasse through
22:09 a permanent cessation of hostilities signed last November silenced weapons in the north
22:15 of the country as a result of negotiations mediated by the African Union.
22:25 South Korea got its first close-up view of one of the new pair of giant panda cubs Thursday
22:31 at a ceremony to reveal their names and celebrate 100 days since their birth.
22:36 The females named Rui Bao, Weissfresher, and Wei Bao, Breitfresher, were born at Everland
22:42 theme park near the capital, Seoul, in July to have seen received an outpouring of enthusiasm
22:48 and affection.
22:49 About half a million panda lovers helped choose their names through online voting, according
22:54 to the zoo, and a handful of lucky fans were invited to the ceremony on Thursday.
23:00 Ai Bao and Li Bao, the twins' parents, arrived in South Korea in 2016 as a state gift from
23:06 Chinese President Xi Jinping.
23:09 China has long deployed panda diplomacy, gifting its animals to various countries, often to
23:14 further its foreign policy goals.
23:19 "We've never raised twins before, so we were very nervous.
23:27 But I was happy seeing them grow up, and I think the people watching them via social
23:32 media were also happy.
23:35 So I think that they are already a very generous pair of twins who provide a lot of happiness."
23:41 And we have come to the end of this news brief.
