A gathering storm will deliver a helping of snow to the Rockies and parts of the Plains, including accumulating snow in Denver.

00:00 Yeah, we'll say sayonara to one storm tomorrow and then well hello. Here's a
00:05 second storm later in the week. It begins with this some colder air that
00:08 is going to be charging south thursday friday and saturday across the Rockies
00:12 and the plain states here. Much, much colder air now it's going to be mild
00:17 preceding this air mass. So the temperature drop though is going to be
00:20 pretty significant 20 to 40 degrees from the what we're going to see the
00:23 next day or two here and we do have our storm that we're tracking here. Let me
00:27 take into the western United States and the storm that will inevitably be our
00:32 late week storm is in here. This energy in the gulf of Alaska, what's going to
00:36 happen is this is going to dive southeastward. Let me show you how this
00:39 is going to work. Watch this energy here comes dive southeast. You notice that
00:43 and by the time we get in the thursday we have this big dip in the jet stream
00:47 in the northwestern United States. This continues to strengthen. You could see
00:51 all the energy right in here denoted by the orange and red. Watch that kind of
00:56 carve out our upper level low where right across the four corners area as
01:01 we move in the friday and saturday. The old forecast a rule of thumb upper
01:05 level low along the four corner areas for corners area. Look out for snow in
01:09 Denver and Denver. You're going to get into the snow. In fact this is going to
01:12 turn out to be a sizable storm for the northern Rockies and central Rockies
01:17 here as we're looking at quite a bit of snow certainly in the mountains as we
01:20 begin thursday night in northern areas friday and saturday as you move farther
01:25 south. I think it's mostly friday friday night around the Denver area
01:28 where we're looking at several inches of snow here at least 3 to 6 inches.
01:31 But boy once you get just west of Denver it could be over six inches of
01:35 snow easily and then in the mountains 12 to 18 inches of snow with an accurate
01:40 weather local storm max of 24 inches. Now storms not done then moves out into
01:45 the plain states as we move in the saturday. It's going to be a fast
01:48 moving and weakening system. I think the best bet for accumulation here is
01:52 going to be across the high plains and certainly in the parts of colorado and
01:56 then the snow will be streaking out in the midwest. We'll keep an eye on it. I
01:59 don't think there's a lot of accumulation with this but we'll
02:02 certainly keep an eye on it. Oh and by the way really quickly, we've been
02:06 talking about this for the last week or so the end of this month. So that's
02:09 going to be mid to late next week. I think there's going to be an
02:12 opportunity for another storm. First of all, a lot of cold air is going to be
02:15 drilling across the midwest and into the northeast. Here comes our storm
02:19 across texas. Now two possible scenarios. I think this is the most
02:23 likely scenario, a storm that stays south that stays disconnected from the
02:27 cold air. So it's mostly a rain event. However, if and I see a possibility,
02:33 you say there's a chance for you snow lovers if this storm takes more of a
02:37 track this way, it's possible but not likely then then we could be talking
02:42 about accumulating snow across parts of the midwest here. So we'll keep an eye
02:46 on it. I think the most likely scenario though is that southern track and the
02:50 storm staying disconnected and it mostly being rain. But of course we'll
02:54 keep an eye on it.
