00:00Racing against time. Ambulances speed up and down the roads in Wayanad, trying to rescue
00:08as many lives as possible. With each arrival, anxious relatives scramble to see if the victim
00:18is one of theirs. The staff at this hospital are trying to put a face to the scores of
00:27missing here. There are 132 names written on the whiteboard. We're not yet able to
00:35identify who these people are. The situation is really horrible. Families are desperate
00:44to find any clues to the whereabouts of their loved ones. I lost six of the seven members
00:50of my family. So far we've only identified one body. It happened around 2 a.m. when everyone
00:56was asleep. The floods destroyed our entire house. Many were caught unaware. This is what
01:05remains of the several villages of Wayanad district. Cut off from the main town, rescue
01:10teams have been using ropes to reach the victims. These pictures speak a thousand words, a testament
01:20to the horror that unfolded after three landslides swept down the hills in succession, wiping
01:25out more than 300 homes. The devastation is so extensive, local officials are only
01:33beginning to assess the aftermath. This is the worst landslide in the history of Kerala.
01:42Currently, I can't tell you the exact number of deaths. In some cases, during the rescue,
01:49we only found body parts. Indian Army, Air Force, as well as the Navy are working on
01:57war footing, braving the continuing downpour in the region to try and rescue hundreds who
02:03still remain stuck or missing. Time is of the essence now.
