00:00Crime starred as the most pressing matter at the UNC pre-budget consultation
00:06but attorney at law and businessman Rishi Tripathi says there must first be
00:11the will by government to fight the menace.
00:30He announced a limited state of emergency in that area. He locked down that area.
00:36He put out some advertisements with some nice high rewards saying listen you bring
00:40information leading to the arrest of these persons who are involved in this
00:44or to the arrest of persons involved in gang activities, you'll be handsomely paid for it.
00:49And at least there's some initiative being shown.
00:52Financial consultant Ved Siriram says the financial figures publicized by the
00:58government are misleading.
01:28The loan repayment, the loan repayment. That loan repayment, you have to add another 6 billion dollars.
01:35So your deficit for the year is over 10 billion year after year after year.
01:41Additionally he says traffic weighs heavily on productivity.
01:45You ask any one of those drivers at the end of the day what did they produce?
01:50They produce nothing. So what are they doing for Spain?
01:55For Spain it's a massive cost center. It's a cost center that Trinidad can no longer afford.
02:03We cannot afford to upkeep for Spain. They produce nothing.
02:08Speaking of roads, one member of the audience criticized the government for what was termed its double standards.
02:15Why it is you want all owners of vehicles to get their vehicles road worthy and have a sticker?
02:28Otherwise you're charging them X amount of dollars.
02:31Why it is you're not making the road worthy for our vehicles?
02:38Former UNC candidate for the local government polled Javon Talisford reflected on the life of his friend
02:4423-year-old national athlete Shaquille Benjamin who died by suicide.
02:50How much more loss can our country afford with respect to human resource?
02:57We are losing our youth to migrations for better opportunities, crime, kidnapping, murder and suicide.
03:08I would love to see more attention in place on creating opportunities and helping the youth who are trying so hard to create a future for themselves.
03:17Opposition MP Dr Rudal Munilal lamented the slow pace of school repairs.
03:22Do you know there are schools, I went to one Saturday evening to a function,
03:26begging for six years now to do repairs during the holiday.
03:30Now is the holiday. The holiday will end in a week and a half.
03:35You know there are schools in this country that cannot be repaired.
03:39They cannot change bulbs, they can't put a light, they can't fix toilet facilities.
03:44If you go to school and you go in the toilet facilities where the children use, you run.
03:51And they don't have the resources for that.
03:53The final UNC consultation will be held on Wednesday in the Separia constituency,
03:59the seat held by the opposition leader Kamala Prasad Possessa.
