00:00Michelle just texted me.
00:02She said, oh, that's your new nickname.
00:06You're my snack.
00:07Thank you, Bobby Joe.
00:11Your barber fired someone in the building?
00:15Yes.
00:15I'm not going to say it at all.
00:16I know what it is.
00:17Your barber Nico?
00:18The guy I met?
00:19Gino.
00:20Gino.
00:20Gino.
00:20Of course you've got to tell us who it is.
00:23Who?
00:24It had to do over beard trimming issues.
00:26Who is it?
00:27Think about who has a beard, MJ.
00:29The guy who thinks he's Santa Claus?
00:31Oh, Shriner?
00:32I know what you're saying.
00:34Shriner was fired by your hair guy?
00:37That's the word.
00:38I think it was because of a beard issue, but, you know, I'm behind Gino on this one.
00:43Gino's my boy.
00:44Go see Gino at his barbershop.
00:46So you're Team Gino?
00:48That's right.
00:48I have no idea what Gino's barbershop is, but.
00:50Tampa Barbershop.
00:52Hang on.
00:52Down in country.
00:54All right.
00:54That was the worst.
00:55I think that was the worst mention of any company I've ever heard in my life.
00:59The barbershop, maybe.
01:00Calling Michelle.
01:01Hello.
01:02Hey, hey.
01:03Good morning, Michelle.
01:04Even I knew that was Shriner.
01:06All right, Michelle.
01:08I mean, what is wrong with you?
01:09The minute Froggy said it, I was like, Shriner.
01:11Oh.
01:12All right.
01:13So you got your hair done, what was it, last Thursday?
01:16Something like that.
01:17So last week, Michelle gets her hair done.
01:19She comes back.
01:19She looks beautiful.
01:20Just great, great color.
01:22Everything looks good.
01:23She looks fantastic.
01:24Really?
01:24Yes, really.
01:25Your hair looked beautiful at the Christmas gathering we had.
01:28It did.
01:28Oh, thank you, Foster.
01:29Exactly.
01:30All you guys saw, Michelle, at our Christmas year-end spaghetti and meatball dinner on Saturday
01:34night in my backyard.
01:36So Michelle comes home and says, oh, I got a story to tell you.
01:39You got to hear this.
01:41Michael's fired another client.
01:43All right.
01:44Now, Michelle, how long have you been going to Michael?
01:46How many years?
01:4818 or more.
01:49A long.
01:50A long.
01:51Didn't you fly here when you lived in New York just to see him?
01:54Yep.
01:55Jeez.
01:55That's outrageous.
01:57Nobody knows how to do hair in New York, so you got to see Michael.
02:01That's why I'm in Florida.
02:02It's really like a barren wasteland.
02:04There are no hair salons.
02:05There are no known hair cutters and stylists in New York.
02:08It's just, it's a wasteland up there.
02:10All right.
02:11So Michelle.
02:12He's the best.
02:13So Michelle comes back and tells me this story.
02:17I'm going to let you tell the story, Michelle.
02:19But, and over the, you've told me these stories before.
02:22I'm pretty sure I've heard at least one or two stories over the years about Michael, your
02:27hair guy, firing clients.
02:30And the latest is great.
02:31Listen to this.
02:33Well, when he was finishing up, trimming up my bangs and he fluffed them out for me and
02:38he said, sexy.
02:40And I was like, yeah.
02:41And then he said.
02:42So he's finishing up your bangs, fluffing out your bangs.
02:46And he, he says, sexy.
02:48And you say, yeah.
02:49And he said, you know, I have to tell you another client of mine, uh, when I finished up her
02:56hair like that, she told me that was inappropriate.
02:58And I was like, what?
03:03And she said it was inappropriate for him to ask her if her, if her, like her hair and whatever
03:09he had done was sexy.
03:11And so they, they had a little back and forth about it.
03:14And he said, is it because of hashtag me too or, or what?
03:18Because I've spent my entire career trying to make women feel, you know, beautiful and
03:22sexy and, um, you know, appreciate how they look when they leave my salon.
03:27And she said she was offended.
03:31And so he said, well, he said, well, I'm offended that you are offended by what I said.
03:36So you will not be returning to my salon.
03:38My goodness.
03:40This almost sounds like a mutual firing though.
03:42No salon for you.
03:43I mean, so, so he commented on her hair being sexy.
03:48Well, he's the hairdresser.
03:49He's making the hair sexy.
03:51You go to a hairdresser to get a great presentation crafted.
03:56And he just, I don't think that's out of bounds.
04:00Just said, Hey, it sounds like it's his like tagline that he uses for every haircut.
04:04Is this sexy?
04:05Like if you had a show on Bravo, it would say, wouldn't it get sexy this Thursday?
04:10Michael's barbershop.
04:11By the way, he doesn't sound like Bronson Pinchot in Beverly Hills Cop, okay?
04:15He doesn't sound like this?
04:17I mean.
04:17With a little lemon twisty.
04:19No.
04:19Cousin Larry.
04:21Don't be ridiculous.
04:23The desired outcome is sexy.
04:25It's not like he said, garbage.
04:27Garbage.
04:28Basura.
04:28I mean, I told him, I said, honestly, if I didn't come out of here with sexy bangs, MJ might be a check.
04:36Do you want Amish bangs?
04:38Right.
04:39Yes.
04:39What was it?
04:39We said no.
04:40Should he have said frumpy?
04:43Yeah, exactly.
04:43Is that what you're going for?
04:44I said that to Michelle.
04:45I said, yeah.
04:46Should Michael have said, hey, what do you think?
04:48Your haircut frumpy?
04:51Turn off.
04:51I mean, proof.
04:52You think you look like Doody?
04:54So.
04:55Please stop.
04:57Jess, Jess, you want your hair to look like crap, right?
05:00Michael's from Philly, man.
05:02He doesn't think so.
05:02Oh, okay.
05:03I got this all wrong.
05:04Don't tell us where he's from.
05:05We can paint him any way we like.
05:09He's not from Milan, okay?
05:10So, did he say, don't come back to me?
05:14Or was it just mutually understood?
05:16Was there a firing?
05:17Did he give her?
05:18No.
05:18He fired her.
05:20Yeah.
05:20And said, well, I don't think you need to come back.
05:22What did he say exactly?
05:24Did he tell you?
05:25He said that he told her that she made him feel uncomfortable, and so she should not be
05:31returning to the salon.
05:32It's a real tete-a-tete.
05:33Okay.
05:33How long has she been a client of?
05:37Oh, she'd been with him for years.
05:38People who go to him have been there for years, right?
05:40Like, you're not a new client with him.
05:43Like Kelly Ring, a friend of ours from Fox.
05:46Kelly Ring has been a client probably as long as you, Michelle, right?
05:49Longer, because she's the one who sent me to him.
05:51Oh, oh, Kelly Ring's.
05:52So, Michelle's been a client for 18 years.
05:55Kelly Ring's been a client of Michael's for even longer.
05:58Right.
05:59It sounds like they probably had a past.
06:01Maybe they argue a lot about different stuff, and this is just like sort of put the nail
06:04in the coffin, maybe.
06:06No.
06:07Maybe this lady can get the number to Gail Searins' old hair person.
06:12Huh?
06:12What do you think?
06:14Or Marty Matthews.
06:15Ooh.
06:15Yeah.
06:16Who are they using?
06:19Who did Suze Lenko use back in the day?
06:21Suze Lenko, yeah, exactly.
06:22Heather Van Ness.
06:23Where's she?
06:24What's her head?
06:24I don't know.
06:25What's she doing today?
06:26I don't know anyone at Channel 10 anymore.
06:28I couldn't name one person on Channel 10.
06:31Is Dick Fletcher still doing weather over there?
06:32Yes.
06:33Actually, he's still there.
06:34He's still there.
06:34Howard Shapiro.
06:36No, he was on Fox 13.
06:37He was on Fox 13.
06:37So, did she run out in a huff?
06:40Did you get any, like, aftermath story of him firing the client?
06:44No.
06:44She just, you know, paid her bill and left, and I guess she just never came back.
06:48Look, he's not going to make you another appointment if you've offended him.
06:52You know, we ought to go to phones here as well.
06:53We ought to go to our listener lines and ask our women listeners, if you're a woman, I'd
07:01love to hear from you right now, or are you offended if your hairdresser just colored your
07:07hair, styled your hair, cut your hair, and then says, sexy, as you're looking in the mirror,
07:13would you be offended by that?
07:14I want to hear from our women listeners right now.
07:17Now, 800-990-1047, 800-990-1047, would that offend you in the least?
07:26Listen, be honest.
07:27If you think it's inappropriate, then tell us.
07:31I just don't see how that is inappropriate, even in a Me Too world, for a hairdresser to
07:36say, hey, what do you think?
07:38Hair?
07:38Sexy?
07:39I don't have a problem with that.
07:40Even if it was my first visit with Michael, and he said that to me, and I didn't even know
07:44him, I would be like, yeah, thanks.
07:46And this woman has a relationship with him.
07:49Right.
07:49Yeah, they're friends.
07:50That's what makes it weird.
07:51Full disclosure, MJ.
07:52Yes.
07:52I've never had a relationship with a professional hairstylist for myself.
07:56Okay.
07:57I just want to put that out there.
07:58So you've never gone to one, like, more than once?
08:00I mean, I don't, yeah, you don't need.
08:02I have wool clippers, and I shave my head probably once every two and a half weeks.
08:05Now, look at the phones.
08:06Coop, hurry up, screen these things.
08:07Every line is ringing.
08:08But one of the more intimate relationships you would have in a professional setting is your hairdresser.
08:13Yes.
08:13So you would think there's a friendship or a.
08:15Well, also, you know, and Roxanne, you could probably attest to this, Michelle can, is
08:21that hairdressers have a lot of personal conversations with their clients.
08:28Hairdressers tend to know, like, everything that's going on.
08:32They got a lot of dirt on you.
08:33They do.
08:33And I know Michelle tends to be pretty tight-lipped because of, you know, my occupation.
08:38I don't think Michelle's a blabber.
08:40But, Michelle, a lot of women just will open up to the hairdresser, right?
08:44Sure.
08:44What's Michelle going to open up to the hairdresser about that he can't hear on the morning show?
08:48Seriously.
08:49Well, that's the problem.
08:50That is a...
08:50Thank you, Roxanne.
08:52That's a good point.
08:53Michelle, I...
08:53Michael does our kids' hairs as well, so...
08:55Yeah.
08:56All right, Michelle.
08:56I'm going to grab some calls here because every phone line is blown up.
09:00Good luck.
09:01All right, sweetie.
09:01I'll talk to you in a bit.
09:02Okay, bye.
09:03Bye-bye.
09:03Michael sees Julian's hair.
09:05He's like, I can't do anything with that spaghetti mess.
09:08You know, Michelle, I mean, in our lives, Michelle, you know, we're not really chatty about too much.
09:15You want to keep...
09:16What are you talking about?
09:18You're the chattiest chatty bird I've ever chatted with.
09:21Hey, I heard your husband this morning on the radio, and I know everything is happening in your life.
09:26You're so not chatty.
09:28Well, okay, I guess I do open up a lot on the air.
09:30Oh, you're so not secret spilling at all, either.
09:32Well, certain things, but I'm sure they're...
09:34I don't reveal everything.
09:36All right, Kim is in Bradenton up first.
09:38Hi, Kim.
09:39You're on the MJ Morning Show.
09:40Welcome.
09:43Hello, Kim.
09:44Oh, I can hear you now.
09:45I couldn't hear you.
09:46Sorry.
09:46All right, Kim, go ahead.
09:47You're on.
09:47What do you think?
09:49Well, I'm a hairdresser, and women are crazy.
09:51We are all crazy.
09:53So they tell us things that are worse than that, so why not be able to tell you you're sexy?
09:58We're supposed to build you up.
10:00Have you ever said to a client after, since you're a hairdresser, have you ever said to
10:04a client, hey, sexy haircut?
10:06Have you ever said that?
10:07Yeah, of course.
10:09So you think that the client's just whacked out to get offended, right?
10:13Well, yeah, but nowadays people are getting offended about everything, so...
10:17Have you had to fire a client before?
10:20Good question.
10:21Yes.
10:22Yes.
10:22Why do you have to fire a client?
10:24So I don't take new clients, so...
10:26Oh, hold on.
10:27Say that again.
10:27I stepped on you.
10:28Say it again.
10:29Oh, I'm booked out, so nobody can...
10:32I can't just take new clients.
10:33So if I'm firing you, that sucks.
10:37And then when was the last time you as a hairdresser had to fire a client?
10:42Just the other day, because she brought me in a piece of paper telling me how to cut
10:45her hair and put pictures of herself of how she did not want her hair.
10:50And then tried to tell me how to cut her hair.
10:52So I was like, yeah, no.
10:54What's the matter with that?
10:55Don't you tell the artiste what to do with your hair.
10:58What, are you going to Fantastic Sam's when you're looking through a magazine and give
11:02me that?
11:03I thought that's what you do.
11:04Oh, I don't...
11:05Thanks for the call.
11:06I appreciate it.
11:07Bobby Joe in Wesley Chapel.
11:10Hello, Bobby Joe.
11:11You're on the MJ Morning Show.
11:13Hello.
11:13Good morning.
11:14Hello.
11:14What do you think about the hairdresser telling a client that, hey, sexy?
11:17I've been going to the same hairstylist for two years, and if I left her salon without
11:24her calling me a snack or calling me a bad B-word, then I would feel uncomfortable.
11:31She better make me feel, you know, good and confident.
11:34She's great.
11:35Right.
11:35So she'll say something like, whoa, you're a bad B-word right now.
11:40You're just a snack.
11:41Yeah.
11:41A snack?
11:42You're a snack?
11:43Oh, yeah.
11:43You're a yummy snack.
11:45We can't say bitch.
11:46And do you think...
11:47Yeah, we can.
11:48Can we say snacks?
11:48Like, she's like, hey, you are a sexy bitch.
11:51So, Bobby Joe, do you think it makes a difference whether it's a female hairdresser saying, ooh,
11:59sexy, or a male hairdresser saying, ooh, sexy?
12:03No.
12:03No, because that's what we want when we go to salon.
12:05We want to feel pretty or sexy when we leave.
12:08So that's why we go.
12:09Yeah, I concur.
12:10All right, let me grab a couple more.
12:11Bobby Joe, thanks for the call, you snack.
12:14Have a great, have a great, have a great day.
12:17You know what?
12:18I want a snack pack.
12:21Oh, like the little pudding snack packs?
12:23Yeah.
12:23Oh, so good.
12:24I want the snack packs with the vanilla and chocolate puddings that you get the whole case
12:27at Sam's Club or Costco.
12:29Gino does that to me after haircut.
12:31You're going to get some delivered now.
12:33Thank you, Bobby Joe.
12:34Have a nice day.
12:35All right, just a couple more here.
12:36Let me grab Maria in Riverview.
12:39Hi, Maria.
12:39MJ Morning Show, you're on.
12:41Hi, good morning.
12:42Yeah, I think it's ridiculous.
12:44I think that she's totally absurd.
12:47Well, got fired by the hairdresser.
12:49So you're not offended by a hairdresser saying, oh, you look sexy or sexy?
12:53Nope.
12:53No, I would think that no one would be.
12:56The fact that she was was just weird.
12:58Thanks for the call.
12:59All right, Pauline in Bradenton.
13:01Pauline, what do you think of a hairdresser saying sexy?
13:05What do you think?
13:06Good morning.
13:06I think it's absolutely ridiculous being offended by that.
13:13I have the exact same thing as Michelle.
13:16My bangs, the whole thing.
13:18And she was like, you know, you look sexy.
13:20And I was like, oh, I know.
13:25Thank you for stating the obvious.
13:26And I'm never confident, okay?
13:30That is just awkward for this client of Michelle's hairdresser to be offended by, ooh, sexy, huh?
13:37Yeah, absolutely.
13:39Absolutely.
13:40That's odd.
13:41All right.
13:41Hey, Pauline, thanks for the call.
13:43Have a great day.
13:44Michelle just texted me.
13:47She said, oh, that's your new nickname.
13:50You're my snack.
13:51Thank you, Bobby Joe.
13:52What did you say, Froggy?
13:55It's real gross.
13:56Michelle, what kind of snack would he be?
13:59Like carrot stick or something?
14:01Fiber toast.
14:02Oh, worse.
14:03Melba toast.
14:05How about, let's see, bruschetta.
14:08Ugh.
