Konami’s Exit from Console Games_ What It Means for Gamers Worldwide!
Transcript
00:00But sadly, this is only where things get worse.
00:03In 2014, Konami announced that they were getting out of the console game development market,
00:08choosing instead to focus on pachinko and slot machines.
00:12This meant that some of the biggest franchises in gaming history would effectively be put on hold.
00:18We haven't had a new Castlevania game since 2014, and as for Silent Hill and Metal Gear,
00:24well, who knows if we'll ever see new entries in those franchises again.
00:28I mean, sure, we did get a couple of remasters, but these didn't bring anything new to the table
00:33and just served as a reminder of what we all never get again.
00:37Now, I'm sure you're thinking, well, it's their loss, not ours.
00:41We still have the games.
00:42And to a certain extent, that's true, but these companies don't operate in a vacuum.
00:48Their businesses and businesses need to look out for themselves.
00:52If they feel that they aren't making enough money from developing games, then they won't develop games.
00:57And that's exactly what's happening here.
