00:00We have just issued an extreme heat warning for parts of eastern and southern England and also some parts of
00:06Wales for this coming Monday and Tuesday.
00:09More on that in a second. First, let's look at what's happening across the UK at the moment.
00:13The earlier satellite imagery shows this band of cloud, all due to a frontal system that's been lingering, waving its
00:19way across parts of the northwest through much of this week.
00:23Further south and east, we've had a lot of fine sunny weather this morning.
00:26But it's also worth highlighting that this front's not just bringing a cloud, it's also brought quite a bit of
00:31rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland and then that front's edging further south and eastward.
00:36So further heavy, persistent rain across parts of southern and eastern Scotland, feeding into parts of northern England and western
00:42Wales as well, perhaps just about clipping the southwest of England.
00:45Rainful totals not especially high, but some places could see in excess of 20 millimetres.
00:50Behind the more persistent rain, behind that front, staying relatively cloudy, few spots of rain, but towards the southeast of
00:56the UK, well, lots of sunshine here.
00:58Just one or two showers may just about clip coastal parts of Kent, but generally I think it's going to
01:03stay dry.
01:04And with that sunshine and hot air coming in from the south, temperatures in the southeast are going to be
01:09a little bit higher than on Thursday.
01:11We're looking at high 20s, even low 30s in a fair few spots.
01:15Further north and west, ever so slightly fresher air and the cloud, the rain, blustery winds perhaps, it's going to
01:21feel quite a bit fresher than this here.
01:24Later on, we are going to see that front continuing its way eastwards across the country.
01:29Worth highlighting, there could be some hefty showers through the evening and overnight across some parts of Scotland and Northern
01:34Ireland.
01:34But all of that is moving eastwards and so the rain breaks up as it goes.
01:39Most places will see a bit of rain at some point through the night, and it could be a little
01:43bit on the heavy side, but like I say, turning a bit drier through the early hours of Saturday morning.
01:48There's going to be quite a bit of cloud lingering across many parts, and most areas will still be under
01:52that warmer, hotter air for now, particularly across England, especially in the south and southeast.
01:58So here, another warm, muggy night, temperatures holding up in high teens.
02:01But further north, slightly fresher air, a bit more comfortable perhaps. Some places may just about drop into single digits.
02:08Then through Saturday, it gets off to a bit of a cloudy start for quite a few places, and there
02:13will be a bit of rain around first thing.
02:15But most of that clears through. We have high pressure buildings, so that's going to help turn things drier and
02:19also brighter with a lot of the cloud breaking up.
02:22So we're going to see a bit more sunshine for most by the afternoon, and one or two showers towards
02:27southern parts can't be ruled out.
02:29But really, the greatest shower risk will just be across northern parts of Scotland, and even here, they're going to
02:33be quite scattered, so some drier spells in between.
02:36With the brighter weather, it is still going to feel relatively warm for most, but slightly fresher air pushing in
02:42compared to today.
02:43So most notably in the southeast, temperatures will be down a couple of degrees, still getting to mid to high
02:4820s, but yes, not quite as high as they are today.
02:52And there's a bit of a breeze in some places, so yes, a slightly fresher feel.
02:56But the high pressure continues as we go into Sunday, and actually we could see the heat returning across southern
03:02parts, so greater chance of getting back into the low 30s across southern areas.
03:07And then the heat is set to get more extreme through into the early part of next week.
03:13Like I say, we have an extreme heat warning across many parts of southern and eastern England, also the southeast
03:19of Wales, for Monday and Tuesday.
03:21Temperatures are likely to get into the low, possibly mid 30s Celsius.
03:25It could be record-breakingly hot, both by day and by night, so really difficult conditions.
03:31With the hot weather, as we often see, there is the risk of some thundery showers, so do watch out
03:35for those.
03:36Of course, with the extreme heat coming our way, we will be keeping you up to date and on top
03:40of the temperatures, so make sure you're subscribed to our YouTube channel.
03:43Bye-bye.
