00:00and we're down to like so i think we have 10,000 14,000 there might be enough to eat
00:08all right we're too poor for this place
00:17thank you thank you so much we couldn't get it fixed and just a random stranger just saw us
00:22struggling on the side of the road and came and helped us seriously cambodians are the best
00:31oh this is so bumpy that's true
00:41five hours to Phnom Penh from San Reap and in a tuk tuk that's just not realistic you need to
00:48add 40%
00:49being a nomad is not a vacation it's freedom but it's also discipline
00:53it's an exchange of security for enhanced experiences it's a way of life
01:00crazy and everything seems
01:02is there some place for safety i could go
01:09run away run away run away into your escape
01:15run away run away run away you're never too far to run
01:20run away run away run away into your escape
01:25run away run away run away run away run away
01:30I'll wait
01:31Ah, ah, ah, ah
01:38Ah, ah, ah, ah
02:10I feel like I leave a piece of my heart in every place that we visit.
02:16We're never quite the same people when we leave as when we arrived.
02:23We weren't expecting to fall in love with CMREAP the way we did.
02:27Our stay ended up being much longer than we had originally intended.
02:40But it was time to head off.
02:44To start our journey around Cambodia in our tuk-tuk.
02:58When my mind gets tired of waiting, it'd be wasted time to save this.
03:05As it's around, I wanna walk away from all the changes.
03:09I need to switch up my ties now.
03:16I need to cut off my ties now.
03:20I believe in the last day of your life.
03:25Don't try to save you.
03:29I'm not afraid.
03:33I'm runny tops me in the open door.
03:39I'm taking my tears
03:43I'm taking my tears
03:45I'm taking my tears
03:47Me and this boy
03:49Never thought alone like this
03:51But I'll be ready
03:56In the past we were contagious
03:59I wish we had builders
04:03That's the trouble of love
04:05If you never know where to give up
04:08But I did a long day
04:12Wish I could see your face
04:16I would get out of the past this place
04:20With us
04:23Don't you save me
04:26I'm not a patient
04:30I'm running towards you
04:34I'm running towards you
04:39I'm running towards you
04:42I'm running towards you
04:43I'm running away
04:43I'm running towards you
04:45The end is for you
04:47Never thought alone like this
04:49But I'll be ready
04:55Never thought alone like this
05:01You never thought alone like this
05:08You, you, never thought alone like this
05:13Because I'm being out of it
05:16You, you, never thought alone like this
05:20Des psychologist
05:20You, you, never thought alone like this
05:43I'm pretty sure we missed him down somewhere.
05:46Okay.
06:06This is the one of the biggest hurdles for you.
06:09Ever since you...
06:41...that is the one of the biggest hurdles for you.
06:53I'm just gonna eat the green.
06:56Are you gonna eat the green?
06:57Yeah.
07:04It's on.
07:13I just need my shoes.
07:48Hello.
07:53Iced tea?
07:55Iced tea?
07:58They look sweet.
07:59Let´tuce dinner.
08:02I said it's too late.
08:08I forgot to eat the green.
08:12Here's a good skunk.
08:14It's not okay.
08:16Here I am.
08:18Just leave the ki models.
08:43So we're driving to Phnom Penh but it says it's like
08:49five hours to Phnom Penh from Xi'an Reap and in the tuk-tuk that's just not realistic you need
08:55to add
08:56like 40% so we decided to stop half the way halfway there
09:03at a place called
09:05Kampong Thong
09:07So we've got a hotel room for the night and we're about halfway to Kampong Thong
09:13We've been driving for about
09:16two and a bit hours
09:19It said two and a half hours on the maps but realistically it's going to be like four and a
09:23half
09:24Which is just what it is in a tuk-tuk. We just stopped off to get a drink at this
09:28local cafe and a couple of iced teas
09:31and then hopefully
09:33Should only have about an hour and a half left to drive
09:36So far the road's been really good. It's just one big highway
09:40Not many places to pull in and get something to eat or drink. That's all very local
09:46But that's okay. And I think when we get to the hotel we'll probably be able to go and get
09:51a really nice feed somewhere close by
10:00So
10:30okay we're about halfway there I just made a quick pit stop for some drinks and to use the bathroom
10:37stretch the legs a little bit I feel like it's going faster than I thought it would how are you
10:45feeling after driving yeah I was worried it was going to be double the amount of time it said it
10:51would I don't think it's that bad two and a half hours probably turn into four but that's with stops
11:28so
11:35so
11:44so
11:52so
12:00so
12:08so
12:17so
12:47made it
12:51what's this place called again
12:56the town is the place that we are
13:00why look come back where are you going
13:06campon ton
13:10come on honey
13:16hello
13:42not too bad
13:50I always get a little anxious at the beginning of a new journey
13:55even on moving days switching hotels even arriving somewhere new
14:03I think after being uncomfortable so much in our lives there's actually something comforting about it
14:12I think that if we're not uncomfortable we're not really growing
14:16eating food
14:20eating all the races
14:22eating all the races
14:25eating all the races
14:47The thing with so many like flowers and stuff.
14:56There's so many things around, I don't know what I meant to eat, you're not meant to eat
15:02that.
15:04Look at these.
15:06That's like cabbage.
15:07Yeah, that's cabbage.
15:08Yeah.
15:09And this one?
15:10That's shallots I think.
15:13Yeah, and this is like coriander, you got to put some of that stuff, maybe just not the
15:19flowers but definitely that stuff.
15:29The chicken curry had a lot of weird stuff in it, this is, what is it?
15:36I think it's blood pudding, it looks.
15:40It's like, it looks like blood pudding.
15:43It might.
15:44We might have come to somewhere that's just a little too Cambodian for us.
15:48But it's good, like it tastes good.
15:50It's just so, like the look or the texture.
15:57Okay, one of my absolute favorite things about traveling in Asia is that when you go out
16:03to a meal, generally the people that work there will help you if you have a baby so you can
16:10eat.
16:16They were just entertaining Lila while Lloyd and I ate, playing with her.
16:22And she was even being a little bit fussy just because she'd been in the tuk-tuk for a while
16:27today and was wanting to run around.
16:29But that's super common in Asia and I'm so appreciative of it.
16:35Traveling in Asia with a kid has been, yeah, just really great for that.
16:44Question five and a half.
16:46From here.
16:56Dying.
16:58Dying.
17:03I'm too busy.
17:04What is the plane, you gotta go.
17:04He's there, she's there.
17:07I'm too busy.
17:08The plane is on the plane.
17:09He's there.
17:09You're the plane.
17:09The plane is on the plane.
17:10This plane?
17:20I'm going to eat coffee, I'm going to eat coffee, I'm going to eat it.
17:37I think a big part of why we love being in different countries so much is because it's
17:44accepted to be a little weird, a little different.
17:49There's not really any pressure to conform.
17:53We're just accepted for doing things differently because we're not from there.
17:59And I really like that.
18:22I mean, we're not from there.
18:25I mean, we're not from there.
18:32I mean, we're not from there.
18:56Hello.
18:57How are you?
18:59How can I get it?
19:01Iced Americano.
19:02Love.
19:03Dicas.
19:05And ice chocolate.
19:08Nice taste.
19:20Thank you, honey.
19:46Oh
19:47That worked
19:51Come to
20:19Let's go Phnom Penh, let's go Phnom Penh, yes, yeah, yeah.
20:26Yeah, yeah.
20:42Yes, even that's better.
21:02Alcon, Alcon, thank you so much.
21:08Wow.
21:13The zipper on our tuk-tuk broke on Lila's side.
21:18We couldn't get it fixed and just a random stranger just saw us struggling on the side of the road
21:22and came and helped us.
21:24Seriously, Cambodians are the best.
22:39Okay, so we're finding that
22:47We're finding that
22:49nowhere accepts card along the way at the moment
22:53Even 7-Eleven didn't, which is really weird
22:56I don't think we've ever been to a 7-Eleven that doesn't accept credit card
23:00And even the big restaurants and stuff along the way aren't accepting
23:04So we're struggling to find somewhere that we can get proper feed from
23:09Yeah, I got out enough cash before we left
23:13Pretty much just for fuel
23:14And like the odd coffee here and there
23:17Thinking like
23:19Everywhere else would just take a card
23:22But they only take that scan app thing
23:24Which you need a Cambodian bank account to scan
23:28Or cash
23:29And we're down to like
23:31So I think we have
23:3310,000
23:3514,000
23:36There might be enough to eat
23:3814,000
23:39Should we go check and see if 14,000 is enough?
23:41Yeah, let's check
23:4414,200
23:44Okay
23:47Sort of
23:48Alright, we're too poor for this place
23:52Unfortunately
23:53Everything's like 5 or 6 dollars
23:56Oh well
23:57We'll see if we can find somewhere else to eat
24:03Driving through the Cambodian countryside in a tuk tuk
24:07Felt like something out of a movie
24:12Something I still can't believe we're actually living
24:15I still can't believe we're actually living
24:56We've definitely arrived in the city
24:59The roads have gotten way more hectic
25:02The second leg of the journey has been much more challenging
25:06Less smooth than the first half was
25:10But Lila's been an absolute trooper
25:13She's been amazing
25:14She slept for most of it
25:16So yeah, pulling into this city
25:17A lot more hectic than Sam Rae's first impressions
25:20Yes
25:20Yes
26:19All right, we made it to Phnom Penh.
26:20Holy shit, it's four o'clock.
26:23I think I said if we made it by three, that would be good.
26:27But we did stop off a couple of times for a while.
26:30I'm absolutely knackered.
26:31I don't know what it is about driving.
26:34I took to, it's just like the hyper-awareness of like getting overtaken by trucks and cars
26:42and there's a lot of dust.
26:44And then coming into Phnom Penh, there's a lot of traffic.
26:47So yeah, I'm feeling a little bit jittery.
26:51We're back to the hotel apartment.
26:54We're just going to go find this pub that looks really good to go get something to eat
26:59because we're starving.
27:00We haven't really eaten all day.
27:01We ended our long journey in Phnom Penh with a beer and buffalo wings
27:07at a small hole-in-the-wall American pub called Shakey's.
27:18Tomorrow, we start exploring a brand new city.
27:22Run away, run away, run away into your escape.
27:28Run away, run away, run away.
27:31You're never too far to run.
27:34Run away, run away, run away into your escape.
27:39Run away, run away, run away.
27:42Run away, run away, run away.
27:45Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
