01:33ended up saying yes to he did sign a pretty lucrative contract he needed to buy a couple extra seats
01:39but um i'm sure there were more ticket requests than that but that's what that's where he his line
01:44was drawn to the line so you know you really stand if you're in the 35 or not right

01:54night i was pleasantly surprised with the home run derby and i i kind of felt like we're dunked out

01:59the nba and we were dingered out in baseball there's only so many ways we can watch the ball leave

02:04yard but i thought this format change was perfect they simplified things i don't need a clock where we
02:11don't even get to see one home run land and we have a split screen for the next in the

02:15slow it down it didn't drag out the thing was done by like 10 45 but it could breathe yeah

02:23the stage philly was awesome they're booing everybody that's going up against schwarber
02:28including jordan walker who the guy made more money last night than he's going to make all year
02:34yeah a little known breakout player who stared philly fans in the face and goes six straight home runs
02:41down to his last swing to beat philly in in and quiet the noise like john i thought that was
02:48dramatic i thought it was entertaining and i thought very little of the home run derby coming
02:53into last night the only shame is that it aired on netflix right it's if a tree falls in the

02:58wasn't a huge fan of their presentation and i don't know who as i'm talking to our audience did you

03:03even watch it because if you did you were treated but if you didn't i'm wasting everybody's time
03:07the the home run derby is the one all-star performance that i feel like i want to watch
03:13every single year and i i didn't mind the format before i just i minded the presentation of it the
03:21split screen like there was just too much going on and maybe it's just because i can't focus on
03:26multiple things at one time i just need one thing to focus on but it hit me when contraris was

03:31first batter and he hits a 490 foot bomb right away and all of a sudden instead of watching him
03:38swing on one side and watching the pitch before land in the in you know wherever it landed on the
03:44other split screen you had a chance to take it all in and they're showing the path of the ball
03:48and
03:48it just that to me the presentation of that now you can say whatever you want about the announcers or
03:54whatever and i'm glad will ferrell yeah i'm glad he was limited to the the introduction the liberty
04:00belt takes pictures of him yeah okay um but i thought having the ability for the players
04:08to watch the ball land but us as fans to be able to see where that one landed was so
04:14much better it
04:15didn't drag out guys could take a breath take a beat and there was no timeouts but they were able
04:21to pass on pitches there was no limit on how many times they could look at a ball go by
04:25no and i
04:25thought great rule that it can't end on a homer which is the reason that walker was able to keep
04:29swinging down to his last one but like philly fans they they wanted they had two guys harper and
04:36schwarber they wanted their guys and they were booing everybody else including i don't know if you saw
04:42this play there was uh one of the kids in the outfield he missed the ball in center field they
04:46boot his ass like it was such a great like very philly philly did philly they lived up to their
04:53expectations and reputations and and the derby exceeded mine 248-539-9797 i'm very curious if
05:01people gave this a shot no judgment if you didn't i think the derby had kind of become background noise
05:08and then this time they made you buy a subscription like if you didn't already have netflix this wasn't
05:13an nfl game on christmas day right yeah you're not gonna do the seven day free trial just to watch
05:18the the home run derby now um and what i what i really thought was cool was philly being philly
05:24with jordan walker as he was chasing kyle schwarber they were giving him everything under the sun
05:32yep and he just he was calm cool collected he took you know did a great job of taking some

05:39ignoring what was going on around him and delivered when it mattered most the netflix presentation could
05:46have been better that's what well they didn't really show the bat hitting the ball ever they
05:54used weird camera angles that they were forcing in well they did i mean on a jordan walker's first
06:01round they showed a couple of slow-mos of the ball hitting the bat and you know you'd see the
06:05ball
06:06squish and but i thought it was and the format provided a better presentation by itself no that
06:12that part i will agree with i also felt like the announcers could have been better in the moment
06:16i don't feel like we really sold again i'm not okay i don't listen to a lot of what they

06:21all right fair enough and then i'm i am grateful that the will ferrell comedian routine was limited to
06:28just the player introductions yeah i also wish they would have shown more exit velo and a little
06:35more like the the numbers yeah and not to overly do it but they they had no idea they weren't

06:40showing like a leaderboard or a scoreboard on the screen of like if you had just tuned in 10 minutes
06:45in or if you missed something and you came back into the room who's winning what do they need like
06:51right they could have done a better job with some of the graphics and the the younger fan i think

06:56more apt to be stat heavy yeah and so not having those i think for me it didn't matter i'm

07:04would have loved to have seen the exit velo and some of those numbers because you know that they
07:07were just unbelievable but they're not real like it's not real pitching like i'll show you after

07:16baseball i don't feel like they did very much of that for most of the night and that could be

07:31to get the rhythm of hitting the home runs and i thought it was really cool that his dad was
07:35pitching to him i always love that too because sometimes it's a bullpen catcher and that's fine
07:40those guys see each other all the time but with your dad and he's throwing you the ball in the
07:43backyard and now you're doing it at a ballpark yeah i mean that was that was cool for him and
