For artist and designer Daniel Jackson, multitasking is as much a profession as fashion itself. As the co-designer of Surface 2 Air as well as co-owner of the Lower East Side destination shop, BBlessing, Jackson has strong attachments to all the quirky things that fuel his right brain. Here, he invites us into his NoLIta home where he shows us his current objects of desire.

00:20Hello, my name is Daniel Jackson. I'm a member of the service chair here in New York, and
00:27I'm also the creative director for Lessing. It's a story that we have on June Street here in
00:32Cassius, and you guys are now in my apartment.
00:52I thought I might show you guys some of the stuff that we have around here. One of the things
00:58I've actually been interested in is it's called Lords of Chaos, and essentially it's a biography
01:06about a lot of the people that were involved in the death metal and black metal scenes in
01:11Scandinavia and specifically Norway. And what's really great about this book is that from an
01:16image perspective, there's a lot of content in here that we use as sort of inspiration
01:23for some of our own graphic design treatments for other record covers and t-shirts and posters
01:29and things like that.
01:36One of the artists that was always really influential to me and to the work that I've done was Jeff
01:41Coons. He's been somebody that has been involved I think more recently in kind of more interesting
01:46projects with different companies. One of the really cool ones that I got recently was a
01:53three different skateboards. I thought that they were really great pieces just because
01:57like the skateboard deck itself is very similar you know to a canvas or something to be able
02:02to hang it on a wall but also it's a functional piece but the irony of having something like
02:08this that you're supposed to use but that most collectors never would.
02:13This is a kind of an interesting project working at Blessing and within surface air and stuff like that
02:18we come across a lot of really great brands. This is a Japanese brand called Mad Moves that
02:23we've been looking at for some time and we may be carrying in the shop itself. It's a really great
02:28menswear brand out of Japan and one of the things I thought that was really good that they did was
02:33that
02:34in addition to kind of showing their collection of things like that they put together a poster series.
