The wet-look trend is a pretty polarizing topic here in Beauty Land, but the general consensus seems to be this: When it goes bad, it goes really bad, and when it works... Well, let's just say we're still talking about Beyoncé's Grammy performance.

That in mind, we summoned hairstylist Bethany Brill and our styling assistant, Rachel, to put a universally appealing, totally wearable spin on the wet-look once and for all. And, after seeing the results, we think it's pretty safe to say they nailed it. Check it out, above.

00:08A lot of the models at Fashion Week had this really cool, grungy, surfer look going on.
00:13It was slipped back.
00:15I know what you're talking about.
00:16Yeah, you want to show me how to do it?
00:17Sure.
00:17Okay, cool.
00:18We're going to start with a side part using the peak of the eyebrow as a guide.
00:22Take the section behind your ears on each side and clip it away.
00:30Now in the front section, we're going to evenly distribute gel by the root.
00:34Take small sections starting with the back and apply gel to about an inch from the root.
00:40Pull back the next section and repeat until all of the roots are saturated with gel.
00:46Use wave gel that leaves a lasting wet look.
00:50Start on the other side the same way, adding gel layer by layer to the roots.
01:00Unclip the back section and comb through the gelled sections away from the face and on
01:07the side with more hair.
01:09You're going to comb up and back, creating a little volume in the front.
01:14Keep combing until you get a nice look.
01:17Add clips and allow to set for about 10 minutes.
01:26So this is definitely a little more daring than we usually do, but we love how it's an edgy
01:30take on a classic look.
01:31the recent video chat and updates crack around.
01:32Give me about this.
01:33See you in the next one.
