Oh, those rock stars and singer/songwriters with their devil-may-care-yet-always-on-point dressing habits. However do they do it? Is it just second nature or something they teach at Patti Smith University (which, unfortunately, does not exist)? Well, in the case of Ms. Amalie Bruun, the formula is actually pretty straightforward. As she shows us in this tour of her oh-so-chic closet, the New York-based, Danish-born musician starts with some fairly clunky kicks, adds a killer top or two, and layers with a favorite Old Navy sweater. There's a little more to it than that, of course, but for the full rundown, you're gonna have to click play. We promise, this video will be the hit of the fall.

00:13Hi, I'm Amalie Bruhn. I'm a singer and musician from Denmark, living in New York.
00:19Fall is without a doubt my favorite season. You can start layering. I think
00:24most women prefer fall fashion because we love to layer. My personal style is, I like
00:33to call it gutter couture. I'm kind of obsessed with 90s movies, New York cap
00:39driver look almost. I like to wear really clumsy elements with very chic, very
00:44fashionable stuff. This is pretty much it. You're looking at it. My Kurt Cobain
00:49sweater that I love because it's ginormous. It looks cute putting it
00:53together with smaller things such as fragile little tank top. The next look
00:58is kind of like a sweet, simple, chic look. This embellished old navy sweater. I love
01:06these kind of sweaters because you can put them together with like leather pants
01:09and then you can go out or you can just wear jeans and sneakers and it's kind of
01:14a casual but cute look. Well my next look is my favorite vintage t-shirt with a gray
01:21classic fall coat. What more do you need? I was on tour in LA, very miserable, very
01:26lonely and this t-shirt made me very happy. I call this one the 90s sitcom look. The
01:33Rachel dream with the Seinfeld shirt. Maybe let's call it the Daphne jacket. I'm not a
01:39big fan of looking too outfitty or too matchy. I think it's always a good idea to
01:45bring something that cannot be a vintage piece or your mom's t-shirt or something
01:50you wore as a teenager. So it's not like the clothes is wearing you but you're
01:54wearing the clothes.
